  Hello I just joined this site since I’m a first time bunny owner, and pretty lost sometimes haha. Anyway, we’ve had our Charlie and CeCe for about 6 months (they’re about 7-8 months old now). Just a few weeks ago we took them to the vet for a physical before we set their spaying surgery date. While there we learned that our two lovely lady buns were actually both boys! I know male bunnies usually fight if they’re not neutered, but we figured since they usually get along well and groom each other, cuddle, etc, it would be fine, especially since we’re getting them fixed. Sometimes CeCe would try and bite/sniff Charlie’s back end and chase Charlie around. Charlie gets really freaked out and it makes quite a racket. Well, they just got the surgery done two days ago and it’s gotten worse. It’s to the point where whenever Charlie tries to jump out of the cage, CeCe chases him back in. I’m worried one of them will get injured especially since they just had surgery. Does anyone know how to solve this? Will CeCe settle down eventually when all his hormones are finally gone?

  Separate them asap.
  
  It’s normal for hormonally driven behaviors to escalate just after a neuter. It’s known as a post-neuter craze. It settles after 2-8 weeks, 2 weeks being more of the norm.
  
  They should not be together now because they can seriously hurt each other, and if they do, it will be very difficult, if at all possible, to re-bond them after the hormones have settled.

  They should be separated until their hormones have settled and then you’ll need to bond them. Separate them before either gets seriously hurt, for obvious reasons but also bonding will likely be easier if they haven’t fought.

  Just as a follow up, we were going to separate them, but that same day there was no fighting and ever since then everything has been fine at first Charlie was still wary of when CeCe was behind him, but now they’re perfectly fine together again and snuggle and groom each other just like before. Thanks for the advice though, it would have definitely been needed if things didn’t calm down so quickly

  Unless you’re there to supervise them 24/7, you should separate them just in case. If a fight breaks out while you’re not there, you could come back to one (or both) very injured bunnies. If not worse.

  I agree, I would separate them because with hormonal mammals, ANYTHING can happen.
