Behavior towards cats hint how bonding with another rabbit will be like?

  I have a female rabbit who LOVES my cat. Ever since I got her, she would run up to my cat when he was by her playpen. When I let her put of her playpen, she always tries to go next to my cat. When my cat is on the bed with me, she will jump onto my bed and snuggle up to him. She is also very curious with my family’s dogs. When I let her run around outside, she runs up to the dogs. My cat is now warming up to my rabbit and is now learning that he can’t play with my rabbit like he play with other cats. However, this one time my rabbit somehow escaped her playpen (fixed the problem) and I walk in to the rabbit jumping over my cat with my cat freaking out. She was not hurt in any sort and when I let her out she charged towards my cat (not aggressively) and I had to hold her back since my cat got in a funky mood.
  
  I’m just curious if this means that bonding a mate with her will be easier on her part? Or is it different with a 2 rabbits? Obviously the other rabbit may not have the same behavior. A reason I want to get her a companion is because of her behavior towards other pets. It makes me feel that she really wants a friend she doesn’t haven’t be supervised with all the time (after they are bonded of course).
  
  NOTE: My rabbit is very closely supervised when with my cat and the dogs. I do not let her out her playpen with any other animal unless I’m in a foot’s reach of her.

  I was nervous getting my bun a mate. But I put Thumper in a small cage (since he was a baby and younger than Honey) I let honey go around the small cage and smell it, then I opened the cage (after I saw they weren’t going to attack each other) and then honey went and kissed Thumpers head and it’s been bliss since! I would say he will stop paying as much attention to the cat once he has a friend. But be cautious when getting a mate. How old is you bun? I would say contact your local rabbit rescues, they will let you bring your bun in to find him a mate in an environment that isn’t already “claimed” by your current rabbit. That will help a lot too. I think you’ll be fine, a lot of sources do a good job at freaking you out with all the possibilities that could happen, which don’t get me wrong it’s very good info to know so you know what to do in the worst case situation. But, don’t let it scare you from getting another bun. I think they are much happier with one of their own kind!

  How a bunny reacts with rabbit A and rabbit B can be very different so I don’t think his behaviour with a cat is any indication.

  My rabbit is 9-10 months old. The rescue I found has a rabbit they have in mind. The rescue does foster to adopt. Meaning that I have to foster the rabbit for 90 days before I can adopt it as mine. During that time the bunny I foster can not get fostered or adopted by anyone else. If the rabbit isn’t a good match, they will find me another. They come over to my house and give a presentation and help me setup the play area. I bought another play pen and plan on using a dog craft for the rabbits home base. And plan on using a baby gate as a block.
