  So yesterday Olly got angry because a woman from the church came round and got very very angry because she was shouting saying he was a ‘hamster’ and the ‘hamster’ should be outside and I should be in a home because I’m visually impaired, Olly was kicking his pen and throwing stuff and growling like a dog with his hips up, he was really angry, never seen him like that before, but he was giving me his cute look and putting his hips down when he looked at me, I told the woman to go away and not to come to this house ever again and using that special language that is used by adults on very very special occasions, I wasn’t shouting, she left and I went to bed, I woke up and decided to check on Olly, I cleaned his poop area and gave him a treat, he came up to me and I noticed some dried blood on his blankets, I pointed it out to him and he sat on it as if to cover it up, he seems OK and there is no more blood coming from anywhere, eating, drinking and everything else is normal and he is calm and relaxed and given me a few kisses but I can’t see where the blood has come from, is it possible he has hurt himself in his little temper? Like scratched himself?
  
  Oh and she will not be coming in here even to apologise, my child has hurt himself because of her!!!

  Could he have broken a nail? Bam does that now and then. Vigourous scratching could do that, the nail gets caught on something and breaks. If he’s not showing any signs of pain or discomfort now (can hop around on all four feet and so on), it’s not a big deal. Will he let you feel his toes?

  He’s OK Bam, he’s not a big fan of having his feet touched, my carer has checked him over best she could, because he doesn’t like being picked up, she said that he’s in no pain (She has rabbits)
  
  He’s giving out kisses as always as if last night never happened, but my carer is reporting the woman to the church, because Olly is my assistance pet and even though it is a minor injury, it is a big thing to him, he is my child, I know people read that I spoil him, but he’s not just a pet, he’s an assistance animal, so he deserves treats and lots of attention, he decided to help me, I never trained him and he just helped me out of the blue, animals know things are wrong with their owner, he was a rescue bunny and he has done very well for himself, no woman or man will come round here screaming, especially in the presence of my child.

  Of course Olly must be “spoilt”. He’s a VIB, a Very Important Bunny. But really, all pets deserve lots of treats and attention. They give so much to us (although they do tend to keep the treats for themselves).
  
  I’m glad your carer could feel him over – if he’d had a broken toe or something, he’d have reacted with pain. Buns do break nails pretty easily, and there can be a few drops of blood.
  
  The woman had no business calling him a hamster (nothing wrong with hamsters, only Olly isn’t one) and telling you you belong in a home. So glad you told her to go.

  Reminds me of an elderly lady who came up to me years ago, when out shopping with my then 1.5 and 2.5 yr old sons. She commented on the ‘twins’ and when I politely pointed out that they weren’t twins turned quite vitriolic, telling me they were twins, she knew twins when she saw them and who was I to tell her otherwise, and all this in front of both boys.
  
  I’m sure you are just as protective of Olly as I am of my sons, so can understand how angry you are!

  I’m surprised the old lady didn’t say they were both girls Gina.Jenny, us mother’s are wrong everyone else is right, we should know that right from the time of conception.
  Speaking of sons my son is half Asian and I am so surprised how many Asians go up to him and talk in Urdu or Punjabi, sometimes Arabic and when he was little he used to say. “Shrup I’m Engwish.”
