I’m new here to this rabbit business. I’ve never had a pet before (I’m 19) and I just got a cute 12-week-old Himalayan dwarf! I want him to have the best life possible, and I’ve been using this site as a great resource. My question is this: I want my bunny to be used to me handling him, that way it’ll be easier to clip his nails, check his teeth, check his ears, brush him, etc… so how do I go about that? He was raised as a show bunny, and is very calm (like… he’s VERY calm. I think he’s lazy, too. He never jumps or runs or anything, he’s very content and LOVES being pet).
He lets me handle him alright, but he struggles if I try to check his teeth or clip his nails–things that are obviously not ideal from his perspective. I just want to know if there’s something I should do with him every day so he gets used to me and lets me handle him in the way I need to. I also don’t want to make him uncomfortable.
Trancing is out of the question. I don’t want him to be scared, I just want to train him that he can trust me.
Thank you!
