I’ve had my girl Amber (Holland Lop) for about two years. After she had a bout with stasis last year I decided to get her a friend so that she wouldn’t be alone as much.

I adopted a great rabbit from the shelter (Max), an American rabbit who’s a bit bigger than her.

They were caged separately and I let them go on dates. The dates were going very well and they were flopping together, she was grooming, etc. So I let them move in together.

Now it’s a bit of a mess. Both rabbits seem to want to be dominant and they haven’t gotten it out of their system yet. Max has tried mounting Amber and always failed. Amber has mounted Max, especially when he’s eating or drinking, and he doesn’t seem to care or notice really (He just keeps doing what he was doing in the first place).

There’s pushing and shoving when I provide greens or affection..

There’s no fighting, but I’m not sure if I should move them back to separate cages at this point or just hope they work through it.

Any advice would be appreciated!
