Minty is a 3-year old lionhead mix that we’ve cared for since she weaned at 8 weeks old. She is an indoor-only rabbit and she comes out of her cage daily to run, binky, and nap in her favorite spot on the bottom shelf of the bookcase.
Lately, anytime I’ve left the cage open for her to hop out on her own (like she always does), hours have gone by and she shows no interest in coming out for her daily routine. It’s been 3 days now, and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this sudden change in behavior. She is eating, pottying, chewing on toys, and bathing like normal. I reached in the cage several times and gave her a full body rubdown which she thoroughly enjoyed, but still- she does not want to jump out and do her runaround.
The only difference lately is that we are in the middle of a cold snap where temperatures have been in the teens. Even though she is indoors, the house is noticeably colder. Is it normal for cold weather to affect a bunny like this? Everything I’ve read online seems to suggest that cold weather will actually excite a bunny, and cause them to become more playful.
This is my first post here, so thanks for your patience as I learn the ropes. Any insight, experience, or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
