Hey everyone, I’m new here and I have a question that I hope you guys can help me with.
My bunny, Thumper, started sneezing a few times in a row yesterday, and I noticed that she has some discharge/mucus on her nose. So I brought her to the vet. The vet said that it’s probably irritation/allergies and that the discharge is due to the irritation. She gave me some antihistamines, and said to give Thumper this for 2-3 days. If sneezing persists, to give antibiotics for 2 weeks (for upper respiratory infection I think) just in case, as Thumper is only 5 months old and her immune system is still pretty weak.
So now it’s been 2 days, and Thumper definitely got better, I don’t see anymore discharge from her nose, but she still sneezes like once every hour on average. I’m thinking it may be due to hay dust, since she does sneeze occasionally before as well.
My question is: Should I err on the safe side of caution and just give her the antibiotics anyway? Since she is still sneezing?
Also, I notice that one of her eyes got a bit of eye crust (discharge?). I think it’s just eye crust, and I don’t think it’s conjunctivitis, but I know conjunctivitis is another sign of upper respiratory infection.
Thank you!
