  Hi everyone,
  me again Charlie is keeping me on my toes this week
  
  today when I came home he kept shaking his head (ears) back and fourth. He does it sometimes, but kept doing it over and over like something was in it. Also was scratching at his ear with his foot. He’s a lop and I know they can be more prone to earwax build up and things like mites. He hasn’t been around any other animals, and to my knowledge that’s where mites can come from?
  
  I was researching online and started reading about pasturella. Someone on a different forum had mentioned that if the rabbit was shaking their head and had a wet nose it might be pasturella? I have noticed that his nose is more wet today – not discharge, but just wet on the surface. I don’t think he has pasturella but it’s freaked me out a little bit.
  
  I’m going away for 5 days on Tuesday so am just a little nervous leaving him not in 100% perfect health. I want to try to get him into the vet for a wellness appointment before I go but am not sure if I’ll have any luck.
  
  One more question – does anybody’s rabbits not poop all day long? I cleaned his room today including a fresh litter box and when I came home later in the day noticed that he had peed but not pooped at all. I’m not sure that he ate while I was gone but ate his pellets, lettuce, and hay tonight just fine. He has since pooped, but I’m just not sure if it’s abnormal for bunnies to not go all day.

  My bunnies poo all throughout the day – by about lunch time there is a good ‘handful’ of poops and that quantity seems to stay that way until the evening where suddenly they’ll be tons and tons lol. So they poop more in the evening but they still poop all day.

  You could ask your vet to just write you a prescripotion for Revolution (selamectin) or sell you a package if they sell meds. It can be used empirically to treat suspected mites and other parasitic critters on bunnies. It’s bunny safe and a spot-on preparation, so you don’t give it as an injection. If there are mites in the ears they will die, if there are none, at least you’ve ruled out that reason for shaking his head.
  
  Buns tend to have moist noses because they only breathe through their noses. the degree of dampness around the nose varies with the bun’s activity level and the ambient humidity and also the ambient temperature. Pasteurella tends to cause thickish white snot.
  
  Bunnies can poop very little during the day if they’re inactive, as most adult buns are during the day. Then when the bunny starts to move around and eat as they tend to do in the evening, you get poop.
