Sometimes I think Luna isn’t being stimulated enough and becomes bored easily and when this happens she usually gets curious and starts getting into trouble. I try playing with her and the toys I have for her but she shows no interest in them. Her toys are balls in various sizes and material and a wooden chew toy hanging in her cage. The only time she shows interest in her toys is when she is chewing the ball made of hay or simply moving them out of her way. Do I not have the right toys? Are there other ways to stimulate a rabbit? She enjoys sprinting in short bursts but that only keeps her entertained for like a minute and when she starts getting bored she gets super curious and starts sniffing around where she doesn’t need to be. I just don’t want her to get into a sticky situation while “exploring” plus I just hate thinking she’s bored.

Exploring and being curious is normal bunny behavior. Youll want to bunny proof the area she is allowed in and/or get her a large xpen that she can roam around in safely

Bunnies love cardboard boxes. Put a couple of cardboard boxes upside down and cut little doors and windows. My bunnies use them as hidey houses and enjoy “bunstucting” them to their preferred style.

One of mine loves throwing an empty plastic bottle around (bottle cap removed and also the little neck collar safety ring….) removing bottle if he starts making holes in it (which to this point he hasn’t yet !)

It’s an empty water bottle so it makes a crazy crackling noise when thrown or crushed… LOL

It’s through trial and error that you will find what stimulates your bun

I make little toys out of toilet roll cardboard cores. I usually cut a hole in the middle, stuff the roll with hay (he likes to yank the hay through the hole in the middle of the roll). Sometimes I’ll wrap up a treat in hay and stuff it in. Then he spends a good 30-40 min trying to get to the treat lol.

I’d also suggest putting these types of toys in multiple places in your rabbit’s play area. If it is all in one spot, your rabbit might get bored and go check out what furniture they can chew. I put a couple of cardboard trays (only an inch or two deep) filled with shredded paper and cardboard around the room. Olaf likes to hop in and nibble on the papers for a while. Hay tunnels or cat tunnels can also be fun if your rabbit likes running through them. It’s all about diversity. Mix up where you leave the toys and rotate them out so she won’t get too used to them over time.

Amelia is great at finding “trouble” while exploring. My house is pretty well bunny proofed so there isn’t anything I’m actually worried about, but she loves to’ steal’ plastic bags. She loves super crinkly grocery bags, she steals ziplock bags, and page protectors with a few sheets of paper are the best thing ever! Oh and she has stolen the cap off of a bottle that she carries everywhere in my studio. For her its just the act of stealing something that was mine. It’s a game for her and i intentionally set things up for her to steal.

I’m sure you will figure out Luna’s version of play
