Not sure if this is the right place to post. I need help with my Bratty bunny. Diesel is a 5 month old Flemish. I swear his goal is to do everything he has been told not to. He jumps on the coffee table, dining room table, my bed, he searches and steals things. The problem is not that he is a young bunny that doesn’t know better as he will always “check” or “peek” around corners to see if I am watching first!! When he steals things he knows he shouldn’t have you will suddenly see him booking it to a hideout with the item. (You don’t even have to know he has anything. He gives himself up by suddenly fleeing the area). I have cleaned his pen only to find a secret stash of showed up toys, lipstick tubes, chocolate wrappers! Anything!! I used to try all the proper methods of rabbit training but have ended up using timeouts after a warning. It was actually the only thing that worked for awhile. But now he is just getting sneakier lol. What do I do without keeping him locked up or having to spend every moment bunny sitting him? I am a single mom of 3 boys and between us all….. Diesel is a FULL time 24/7 job. And yes even though he is constantly on the go all day and into trouble or playing tag with the cat. He is usually up half the night havinga tempertantrun being locked up. He wakes me up about 3 times a night from another room. His pen is 4 feet x 7 feet.

He sounds like a normal young bunny to me. Is he neutered yet?

No, I wish. He has been circling and marking since he was three months old. That is the reason he is not allowed on the bed or couch. But I can not get a vet to agree to do it till he is 6 months old. ?

Hahha your rabbit stashes things?! That’s extremely interesting I have never heard of rabbits doing that. Since it is a young bunny, you probably have to get it fixed this behavior makes it seem that he is not neutered yet.

Some things they outgrow and other things are fixed with neutering. I think once he’s neutered, a lot of the behaviors you are seeing will diminish. Others, like simply being a cheeky little bunny, will diminish over time as he gets older.

I have had a few rabbits and grew up with them as well. I don’t recall any of them being like this lol. But I have never had a Flemish giant either. Perhaps he’s a little too smart for his own good. I really hope once he’s old enough to be fixed that he chills out a bit. I’m just concerned that I won’t be able to undo some of these learned things by then. He’s already figured out how to push chairs so he can get onto the dining room table.. he’s very clever but I can’t find anything that he will actually play with or that he will play with you. Except for playing tag with his best friend the cat.

Oh I feel your pain! Amelia knows how to try my last nerve like no other. She too is a thief, anything I touch she wants. She loves stealing cough drops, jumping on the dinning room table, nibbling on my orchids, and stealing corn chips and plastic bags. She has dog buddy to play tag with. But in all honesty she has settled in the 3 weeks since she was spayed, cuddling has become very important, much to the dismay of the tiny dog
