I have a year old male bunny. The past couple days he follows me around trying to hump me like crazy. He only tries to hump me, not anyone else. I was thinking of giving him a toy or something to hump in his cage, and I’m hoping that’ll make him calm down on me. Would giving him the opportunity to hump whenever he wants to in his cage possibly create a bad obsession?

Dear Sarah, the first question is, Is your bunny neutralised?

Just before i neutered my bunny, he had a couple of rough episodes where he couldn’t control himself, and he was humping my hand. It was realy hard for him.

If he is not neutered, that would be the right thing to do, because rabbits hormons can realy make their life hard. Best of luck!

I’d say it’s about time for the snips, tbh.

One of our bridge buns hit puberty late in life when he was 6 and he wouldn’t let up for a long time after. We really regretted not getting him the snips when he was young, because it wasn’t the best state for him either. Your bun’s only a year old so a neuter would probably help a lot.

He will likely continue to hump you even after youve given him a toy to hump. He will likely continue this until youve gotten him neutered

An unneutered rabbit can feel a lot of frustration, and it’s really best to relieve him of that frustration by having him neutered.

Yea scooter would hump me like there’s no tomorrow before I got him fixed. His nails were sharp too so he’d scratch me up. But now when I play with him he just runs around and hops happily because there’s really no more urge. He tried to do it the other day but he climbed up and didn’t do much cuz I think he realized the drive was gone haha.

I’d get him fixed, best thing for both you and your rabbit.
