Those of you that have two bucks
Unbonded – seperate cages / pens but in same room
Do you have spraying issues / territorial marking issues?

Or does neutering at right age prevent that ?

Of my trio, two share a cage and have a cemented bond, while the third is in a different cage yet and is working on being bonded back into the group. In the neutral area that they share (bathroom), there is no spraying or territorial pooping. There was a bit of spraying in the beginning, months ago, but it died down quick after they all learned to share the room. They are bonded in that room. Now, in the living room, there are so many territory poops! I let the two out first to run around and there often isnt too many poops around and theres never any pee spots. When i put them home and let the single bun out, he poops EVERYWHERE. He will be running, stop, sniff a random object, leave a turd, then run and repeat. When he goes home, i let the pair out again (i dont pick up the poops inbetween so they can get used to sharing the living room). Blue usually leaves anywhere from 1 to 10 poops on the second go, and Bombur often leaves anywhere from 1 to 20 poops and might leave a pee spot or two. In the beginning, it was so much worse. They would all poop, pee, and spray. We have a stain up our wall where Bombur decided he wanted to mark! But, as they become more and more bonded, the less they start leaving little marks for me to clean after

Oh thank you that is a really helpful explaination So if they were caged seperately – one on one side of the open plan lounge / dining and one on the other – each with their own pens off their cages and not put into each other’s ( so they can see each other and have that company of another around but not sharing territory as such – just from across the room ) and if both are neutered at 4 months – would the risk of spraying be any higher than if I just had one bunny?
I know there is always a risk of spraying in a singleton bunny but neutering usually prevents it ( if neutered before it begins ) or reduces it greatly ( if neutered after it starts) – but I can’t find any info about whether two neutered males housed near each other would still feel the need to mark their space

They likely wont spray for territory reasons (they still might for hormonal reasons until they are neutered and have drained their hormones) until you start bonding. They might spray for territory if they can see eachother and are both instinctually territorial. Basically, it depends on the bunnys personality My Badger stopped spraying all together after being neutered. Blue never really used to spray anyway. Bombur sprayed a lot, before and after being neutered, but it started to slow as Badger is slowly being bonded into their group again.
