My soon-to-be-5-months- boy Bloo used to be a litter angel. When we got him he was a real natural at using the box — you’d never see stray poops anywhere and you could let him run the house freely and need only one litter box and be fine. But now he seems to be getting worse. You’ll see stray runners in front of his cage every day, maybe 10 at most on any given day, and we sometimes find he has peed on the floor / walls throughout the night (for example this morning I woke to find pee on his litter pan and overflowing to the floor).

My question I guess is why? The only theory I have so far is that he does this as a sign of protest because his litter box is too dirty, but surely 2 days without changing isn’t the worst thing in the world?

Side note: does anyone have pics and descriptions of what healthy poops / pee looks like? I’m assuming bronzey-red urine residue is normal just because he seems to be completely healthy but I’d like to have a reference to keep for later on anyway.
