She has been holding hay like this in her mouth and tossing things around. I separated her from the male when she had her first litter but I think I did it to late. If she is what do I need to do so she can be comfy. I am worried for my hunny girl.

If she is, don’t panic, because Mum knows best, she might even be thinking she is going to have babies and might not what we call a Phantom pregnancy (False pregnancy.) you could give her some comfy fleece blankets.

She may be pregnant, or she may be having a false pregnancy. Both can result in rabbits building a nest. Keep providing her with plenty of hay, you will also need to add in a nest box, it can be something as simple as a plastic storage container, put some hay in it and she should hopefully chose to build a nest there. Some does build a nest quite early, some only build a nest the day that they are going to kindle.
How many pellets are you feeding her? If she is pregnant she may need a little bit of an increase of pellets or veggies to help keep her fit and healthy.

Since talk of intentional breeding (I know yours wasn’t intentional) isn’t part of this forum, not many of us have much/if any experience with pregnant does or kits etc. However there are a few resources here which may be of more help than what I or other members can suggest.

okay, i will make the cage bigger to add a decent size nesting box. Thank you for all the advice. I want her to be comfy and give her all she needs. And I am half scared at the same time

Once it reaches about 35+ days from when you removed the male, you can be sure that she is not pregnant because gestation is 28-31 days.

hmmm well she had the babies on dec 2 we removed the male that night when we came home. (when she had them unsure because we both thought they wer males) so I think its day 29 right now

Right, well I suppose you’ll know soon enough. You weren’t to know until she had the first litter since you were told they were both males. Are the other babies eating solid foods well? Once the new litter is born, I think you will have to separate them from mum and the new babies.

Yes they are. Should i do it now or after she has the litter??

Hmm, what I am reading seems to suggest that the previous litter should be removed before the doe gives birth, I suspect in case she gets defensive about her new litter. The main trouble being of course that the previous litter may not be properly weaned yet and there is a risk of digestive issues as they continue to grow. I know that sometimes when a doe isn’t feeding a litter, that she can be held in a lap with kits held underneath to suckle, and I wonder if perhaps you could still do that with her previous litter once every couple of days just to supplement their feeding, but I’m not sure if it would overwork the mum.

I’ve just made a post for you in another forum I’m a member of, they have a breeding section there so will have much more knowledgeable people than I. Here’s the link to see any responses: http://www.rabbitsonline.net/showthread.php?t=87070

                                      Hi Bambii

I saw the pic you shared on the other forum of how you have set things up for the new babies.
It looks good. Is there fur coverung them also?

You will have to take the older kits out from the cage though. It is far too much stress on Blake.

If you can, transfer some of her regular droppings and any extra cecal droppings you find to where the older kits are kept. They will occasionally eat regular fecal droppings and this is another way they can get good bacteria into their gut to keep it balanced. I saw Potamus eat some of her mums poos occasionally.
