I have been told that Rabbits are illegal in Ontario. Does anyone know if this is true?

I didn’t have anything come up on a quick google search, I did find that there are a number of cities that have bans on selling rabbits and there are laws on awning/raising wild rabbits. But I don’t know anything for sure, I live in the states

I Google searched it aswell and came up with nothing. Must have just been gossip. I appreciate the reply!

I have not heard of that. There are several Canadian members though, I’m sure they would know.

No. It’s not true. Bunny shelters and adoptive parents and bunny vets aplenty

Thanks so much! Glad to know I can have my little girl, and not worry about that!

Currently living in Ontario and to my knowledge totally legal. There are rabbit farms and vets that specialize in buns.

Perhaps what you heard was as Jessica said; more to do with the sale of rabbits in pet shops? A lot of areas are moving to ban this. It encourages people to buy from registered breeders or adopting from rescue.

By the way, you might like this site if not discovered it before.

I just know because I’m from there and have friends with buns, friends who volunteer at bun shelters, and have started the paperwork to repatriate my bun
