Hi guys! I haven’t been on for months! But i have some bad news…
Sammy is very sick I believe she has Stastis. Since i have to go to school my mother is taking her to the vet. I prepared her a list of questions the vet may ask abd everything!
        Name:Samantha
        Age:8
        Breed: french lop
        Gender:F
Symptoms:lethargy, loss of appetite, not peeing, not pooping.
*I believe she has GI stastis*
        Time of notice:yesterday 7:30 pm
Last time she ate: monday night. (Romaine lettuce, cilantro and a small amount of kale)
*I seperated her and her cagemate to see if she peed or pooped. I changed the litter in the box to white shredded paper. I did not notice any new droppings. This morning she was very limp and had stomach gurgling sounds. I massaged her stomach for about 20 minutes.*

Thats what i prepared. Im really scared and i hope we can get through this without operating!
Last night and this morning I massaged her stomach and let Theo sniff and pet her then seperated them again to monitor her ped and poop. I’ll keep everyone updated!

I’m sorry to hear Sammy isn’t well. Many healing-vibes for her (((((Sammy)))))

A vet can do a lot of things before surgery is considered. They can give subcutaneous fluids, sometimes with vitamin B12. The can take X-rays to see if there’s a blockage or just gas in the intestines. If there’s no blockage, they can give one or more motility drug/s (metclopramide (“Reglan”), cisapride, ranitidine (“Zantac”). They can also warm the bunny up if she’s cold, they often become cold when they haven’t eaten.

          We’ll appreciate updates very much!

                        Hey guys update….
Sammy passed away. The vet tried to do everything they could but within minutes of her getting there she passed away. They said they were not going to charge us and told me I dod my best to take care of her and it was very surprising for someone of my age. Im just really scared for Theo. They told me that there are multiple rabbits there that are ready for adoption and I should bring theo for a visit soon. I am not sure what to do. Theo has been down aswell. Any tips would be really helpful.

Oh, Im so sorry you lost Sammy.

Yes, you did all you could and more. So sudden, I feel for you and Theo.

Sammy didnt pass in his presence but perhaps he had a sense of what was coming. You never know.

Spend time with him while he deals with this loss before thinking about another companion for him.

Others no doubt will have other suggestions. xxx

Are you worried Theo is sick too or he reacting to her having been unwell and now absent?
If it’s just his missing her, spend as much time as you can with him the next few days.

Adopting a new rabbit is certainly a good idea if he is too depressed, but give him some time first, I think. He might just need adjust to Sammy not being there but could return to being more like his usual self shortly.

Thanks for the tips! He isnt showing signs of sickness just sadness. My vet said she thinks its a good idea to introduce a new cagemate. I just spent about 2 hours with him now so he doesnt feel lonely. I just wanted some second opinions from users aswell.

Let everything chill for a bit. Maybe in a bit some speed dates would be a good idea.

That’s so sad Give Theo time to grieve, and give him lots of love and attention. It might be too soon to get another rabbit right away, Theo needs time to come to terms with it as much as you do. Go give him a big kiss and a treat
