  Hello,
  
  I have a question to ask about my rabbit Oreo.He lives in a big spacious shed which also has a double hutch inside.I have realised that at night time he doesent eat much hay at all because he has a big house of his own to explore.Also he does different things to do at night and in the morning when I go to see him he’s barely eaten any hay.
  
  I feel like I should keep him in his hutch which could increase his intake in hay.I have done this before and it has worked but then i do let him out to play in his shed or to go outside to graze.But the thing is my rabbit really does not like being in his hutch for a long time.Do you think I am going to have to let him get used to it or do you have any other suggestions? He will eat more hay in his hutch which is very important but how can I make his hutch more appealing to him and not so boring?

  How much hay does he eat during the day? My two barely eat during the night but they pig out throughout the day.

  In the morning he eats around a handful.

  Have you tried different types of hay? It might just be a case of finding one he thinks is really yummy and that’ll get him to munch a little more.

  I’ve tried meadow hay which he is eating at the moment.I give him Timothy hay once in a while but its not good quality as it is all yellow and no green colour at all but he prefers it a little more but i worry it could cause dogestion problems.
  
  I am planning on buying good quality Timothy hay called burgess excel timoyhy hay.It’s got good reviews but does anyone have experience with this hay as I want to know if it is definetly suitable.

  My rabbits didn’t like the Burgess Excel Timothy Hay with Dandelion and Marigold. I didn’t think it looked all that great either. Alfalfa King Timothy Hay is a good quality Timothy hay. You could also try oat hay or even oat grass. My bunnies love Friendly Green Oat Readigrass.

  My rabbits LOVED the Standlee timothy hay, you can purchase these online for around $50 for 50lb. However if you have ANY local stores near you that sell hay, I would get it there. Hay is VERY cheap when bought locally, but because it weighs so much it costs a fortune online (shipping costs). If you have Tractor Supply Co. near you look there, or any place that may sell equine feed.

  It varies from brand to brand. Alfalfa King Timothy Hay is around £9 for a 1.8kg compressed bag. I get the Friendly Green Oat Readigrass online from http://www.thehayexperts.co.uk and it costs £4.74 for a 1kg bag. I’ve not seen oat hay in my local pets at home

  I think the alfalfa king Timothy hay is a out of of my price range but I will get a different brand of Timothy hay or oat grass hay for definite and I’ll keep you updated.
