  Typically, my bunny sleeps in my room with me. She does not stay in a cage, she has most of the floor of my room to run about. I have noticed that nights where I am out of town and a roommate takes care of her, she tends to be very destructive of carpet and anything else that can be ripped or chewed. This only happens when I have not been there overnight, and occasionally during the day when I am working. I am assuming this may come from not liking/being anxious about being alone.
  
  Here’s my dilemma:
  
  I want to get her a buddy someday (hopefully soon) but I am wondering if this will be double trouble and double damage. Or, would her having a friend, assuming they bond, take away some of the anxiety of being alone and result in less destruction?
  
  She has plenty of chew toys. I make sure she doesn’t have access to base boards and carpets but she is a clever bun and somehow always gets her way!! Gotta love her for it
  
  Thanks for any insight you guys may be able to give!

  Hey there, it really depends. Adopting another rabbit may well end up in double trouble, even when you are home! However it could also keep her company while you’re not around. That being said, if it’s not the reason she’s being destructive, it won’t fix the problem either. Bandit was most naughty when I wasn’t around because he knew he could get away with doing those things as opposed to when I was around.

  It was double the trouble for me. Eve was never very destructive, but when I brought Theo in I learned pretty quick that I just got lucky with Eve! Theo’s definitely just a destructo bunny, with or without a friend. I am very glad I got him though; I’m sure Eve is much happier now that she has a bonded friend, especially since I haven’t been able to interact with them much at all since it’s finals week. My roommates getting them out for me just isn’t the same for them.
  I’ve heard that having a second bun helps keep the destruction to a minimum… if that’s true, I don’t even wanna know what Theo was like without a friend:p
