Hey guys! I went to go see my little dwarf bunny at the breeders house yesterday and he was super gorgeous. However, so were all of his siblings and my mum also ended up falling in love with one, oops!
The breeder told us she had already had all her females reserved or was keeping them for future breeding so we ended up reserving 2 males as the one my mum liked was also a boy. I was slightly worried as I’ve always wanted a girl and a boy as in the past I have had 2 boys together who really got along well until one day they had a fight bad enough to actually kill one of them which left me devastated and I said from then on I would prevent this from happening. I told my mum this before hand so she spoke to the breeder who was very honest, she said the fact they are from the same litter probably wont make any difference and if they do start fighting to just separate them or do bonding sessions.
However, I would really really like to prevent any fights from happening. The breeder told me that the agouti rabbit I’m wanting is most likely to be the boss as the otter is quite quiet and passive, however they’re only 6 weeks old so I am aware this could change as they reach maturity. I was just wondering, what is the best thing for me to do? They are currently living together and she said they are all fine together at this stage and she did show me some of her older males who were living together happily and have been for a long time. I’m prepared to do absolutely everything in order to help them get along as they get older but I’m unsure of whats best. Should I have them both neutered? Should I keep them together on their own or is it better to have a trio? (I’ve seen YouTubers have 2 boys and a girl) Do I separate them as soon as I see tension?
I will be getting them on the 4th of December as that is when they will be ready so I’ve got until then to sort everything. Any advice or personal experiences will really help. Thank you!
