› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › Christmas Chat! :D
There are only 5 more Mondays until Christmas.
-screams internally-
My whole year revolves around Christmas….. I love decorating the Christmas tree, braiding my hair the night before and slipping into comfy pajamas, sipping hot cocoa, eating cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning, jamming out to Christmas music, excitedly ripping open the Christmas gifts and seeing people’s reactions to getting an awesome gift.
Oh… and CHRISTMAS BREAK! It’s nice to have a break from school to enjoy the amazinggg holidays with the fam.
So…. I now invite all Christmas crazy bunny lovers to talk about Christmas stories, Christmas traditions, Christmas tree pics, Christmas-themed bunny pics, anything that comes to mind! ![]()
ALSO…..
Who thinks BinkyBunny should add Christmas emojis for December? ![]()
(I know it’s November but….. I love Christmas…)
Let the chat commence!
I bought a Santa’s outfit for Bam yesterday, in a thrift shop. Don’t worry, you’ll get to see it =) I just have to clicker-train him into wearing it without panicking.
Awe! Sounds adorable! Keep me updated. ![]()
I always ask for gift cards on my birthday so I can spend it on Christmas presents for my friends and family! (I also save up since September doing chores
)
Aaaack!!! Not a Christmas chat!!! Although Thanksgiving is next week. It just baffles me how fast this year has gone.
I love Christmas. My hubby is kinda meh about it though. So I don’t really decorate our place much. We bought a Norfolk Pine last year for our tree and it’s survived til this year, so we will probably decorate it again. We always have pet stockings up. And I usually hang something on the front door. My mom lives in the apartment below us and we usually decorate there.
Its been randomly chilly here, so there’s been some cocoa and blanket-snuggling.
I really enjoy shopping for others. I usually go way overboard though lol.
I’m having a hard time getting in the spirit this year though. I hope it’s just early and it will kick in later. ![]()
I adore the Christmas season.
I have a very large Norfolk pine in one of the bedrooms. It’s been there for a few years. It’ll push the ceiling soon.
Also have fairy lights on every evening year round.
Decorate the first weekend in December and take stuff down the weekend before first day of spring.
Love Uggs and wooly clothes and presents and food and pumpkin spice hot beverages.
Bummed that I haven’t seen proper snow in a decade. ![]()
I could live without snow…
I don’t know. Christmas used to be fun, now it’s just stressful. I do like picking stuff out for people, but that sort of lost its charm too when I realized no one even tries to put any effort into gifts for me. Not even my husband. And I don’t mean that to sound selfish or anything. I don’t think gifts should have to cost a lot. I just feel you should put some actual thought into the gift. If you don’t want to do that, then don’t bother. When I pick out gifts, I put a lot of thought into it and try to get people things I know they will like. Is it so much to ask for that in return?
I love snow but we rarely get enough of it. But snow makes the world so pretty and inviting. I also love fairy lights. I’ll light them on my balcony on Sunday here.
We don’t buy a lot of Christmas pressies in my family. Pets and my niece get presents.
Fluffy blankies, Uggs, glüwein, gingerbread cookies, tea-lights =) I love the scent of spruce.
First snow here is supposed to be on Saturday!!! Yaaaay!
I love the lights too! My husband has seizures. So we have to make sure nothing blinks and we usually have to do certain colors (no red or white). But no matter what color, the glow is always nice. ![]()
ReeseBun, that’s such a good idea! I should do that this year. Although my dad did say I can work every Saturday at his work sweeping up floors…. but that’s just not as fun. ![]()
BrunosMama, wow…. surprised. Who doesn’t love Christmas?
Also I looked up “Norfolk Pine” and the tree just looks absolutely beautiful! When Christmas time nears, you should definitely send a pic of it. It’s not only chilly here, it’s almost below freezing point. I’ve only seen snow on Christmas once and it looked sooo amazing. Hopefully we’ll get snow this year. I haven’t shopped for anybody for Christmas yet because I never had the money, but I might sweep floors at my dad’s work for some cash so hopefully I can splurge on gifts this year. ![]()
Q8bunny, fairy lights? Sounds pretty. My mom and I usually decorate late November, because we’re early Christmas birds.
Although I’m not a fan of pumpkin spice, I’m a big fan of vanilla bean fraps, Uggs, Snuggies, braids, pajamas, Cinnamon rolls, and hot cocoa. Also, sorry about the snow.
When snows here it gets super cold and I hate it. Don’t get me wrong, the snow is beautiful, but layering clothes and freezing my face off in the snow isn’t my cup of tea (or in this case hot cocoa)…. Sorry for that last joke. It was lame. xD I’ll still go outside though and make a snowman and a few snow angels then head back inside and warm up. ![]()
P.S. I’ve been seeing your rabbit (Chewie) everywhere on BinkyBunny. She’s just adorable.
LBJ10, it can be stressful for some people, but I tend to always look on the bright side. Even without the gifts, the Christmas traditions, the tree & it’s decorations, hot cocoa, snow, family, etc…. is what keeps me in the Christmas spirit. Maybe you should have a talk with your family members about the thought they put into the gifts? Gather around and talk around a nice area… Christmas is all about gathering around with family and being grateful for what they gave you, so it’s best you talk it out with them.
Bam, cute bunny by the way!
We get very light snow during the winter, but it’s still pretty. My dog, Maggie, her birthday is on Christmas, she doesn’t get much though, because in my opinion, she’s not really a toy type of dog. She likes stuffed animals, and gets really defensive over them, but if you gave her a tennis ball, she would just stare at it. She does love dog biscuits though! One time we went to a snow cone place and got a “Pup Cup” and she kept the dog biscuit next to her for two days and if we tried to touch it, she growled at us… it was hilarious! This year I’m hoping to get my first bunny, I’m going to name her Cinder. Let me know if you wanna see pics of her and her cage…. that is if I get her. xD
Also…. I love gingerbread cookies…. now I’m craving them!
Carly’s Rabbits you basically summed up my winter! Vanilla bean fraps, Uggs, Snuggies (my favorite), pajamas, Cinnamon rolls, and hot cocoa (we call it hot chocolate here). I couldn’t tell what you meant by braids though, Pretzels or hair? lol I don’t do hair braids because my hair is too short though. About the pajama part, have you ever heard of this thing where when it is supposed to snow a lot, you wear your pajamas inside out, flush an ice cube down the toilet (lol), and put a wooden spoon underneath your pillow and it ups the chance of a snow day? I try it every time and it has never failed me! this winter we are supposed to get tonnes of snow because of lake effect so i’m excited ![]()
Ah, snow! I love winter snow. And festive lights, warm yummy drinks, and gathering with family. ![]()
I do enjoy Christmas, but honestly, I ADORE Thanksgiving. A holiday DESIGNED to have a feast… what’s better than that?!
Fall is my favorite season. A reason to wear cardigans (even though they have Chom’s fur all over them) drink too many cups of tea/coffee and read lots of good books. Winter… I could do without it, but it’s better than summer… I can’t stand hot weather!
ReeseBun, I do hair braids. xD I like to wet my hair and put it in braids and then on Christmas morning while I’m opening presents I let them loose and my hair gets wavy and I like it. ![]()
Carly: Thanks. He’s the light of my life.
I’m noticing a pattern: comforting clothes, beverages, sights, and people. I think it’s a testament to the fact that humans are intrinsically good eggs ![]()
He? Ah! Sorry I said she! Dx Still adorable. ![]()
I just love Christmas! Always have
I very much miss the smell of a real Christmas tree (pine here). But we can’t afford one, and the tree my mum gets isn’t always a pine anymore depending on what they manage to “forage” lol. So we just have a bargain fake tree I got in the post-Christmas sales a few years back. It does the job
I’d also love to have lights out the front of the house with the yard decorated, but we can’t afford that either, haha.
I’m really looking forward to all the foods that my mum makes only at Christmas.
I’m going to visit in about a week so that we can make honey biscuits (cookies) too, will be at least a half day of baking and icing them all
I can’t believe we’re already over halfway through November!
Carly: No worries. He was Lilo the girl bun when I adopted him. Until he surprised me with two interesting accessories.
Az: My mom’s spending a month here and she’s making traditional Romanian holiday foods for me. SO stoked!
Yum yum…
All this chat of Christmas food is making me excited
and hungry! I love the food my mum makes at Christmas. This is my first Christmas being married but we are going to my folks for Christmas this year anyways – I’m so excited.
Q8 what sorts of traditional Christmas foods do they have in Romania? I spent 3 weeks in Romania a few years ago and loved the food!
Lots that I don’t eat due to how rich/heavy they are, BUT she’s making a few things I never make for myself:
supa de galusti (dumpling soup)
salata de boeuf (chicken and veg salad – like a distant cousin of potato salad)
sarmale cu mamaliga (cabbage rolls with polenta)
cozonac (loaf cake)
Just because I love these foods. And my mom loves me. ![]()
PS What took you to Romania? ![]()
I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Hopefully we’ll be getting our tree soon. (we like to get it a day or two before thanksgiving, so it looks nice on thanksgiving) ![]()
Sounds so yummy Q8! I was on a team doing community work – we spent half the time in Zalau (sp) running a kid’s club and half the time in a really poor village in the mountains working with the community and doing food drops to the poorest families. We stayed with a lady in the village and she cooked us some amazing meals – i came home twice as heavy as I left! ![]()
The food there’s dangerously yummy
I’m excited! Next Friday I can officially listen to Christmas music without the hubby complaining! Lol we have a holiday music agreement – none before Thanksgiving. I’ve already got a Pandora station lined up! ![]()
Azerane – We used to decorate our old house with lights and garlands. But now we don’t do that anymore…
But we still have a lot of fun decorating the tree…. I wonder where the old box full of outside Christmas decor went…. -searches intensely-
Q8bunny – Romanian food? That sounds very healthy…. ah! I need to try new things instead of eating pumpkin pie and cinnamon rolls around the holidays. Hmm…. maybe I’ll add some… pasta? That sounds good. I have a fear of trying new things… ![]()
Theodorusrex – You got to go to Romania? Lucky! I’ve never been anywhere outside of the United States… although I do have family in Japan… maybe I can convince my family to take a trip to Tokyo? ![]()
MoxieMeadows – You ordered a tree? Cool!
We’ve had the same plastic tree for a while now… hopefully next Christmas we can get a real pine Christmas tree! 😮
BrunosMama – When I started this chat I was already listening to a Christmas music playlist… but everyone was asleep and I had headphones on…. so I was able to jam incognito. But my family wouldn’t mind either way…. we all love Christmas. xD
We always have a day set aside in December where we drive to a Christmas tree farm, pick out the best looking one, and we decorate it while eating cookies and drinking hot chocolate all day (just kidding, we just have one cookie and one cup of hot chocolate because then that wouldn’t be “toooo” much sugar![]()
)! It is always cool to see the worker take out the chain-saw when you pick the perfect Christmas tree ![]()
Carly, I know I feel so lucky to have been to quite a few countries in eastern europe. I’m from the UK though so it’s only a 2/3/4h flight for me to go anywhere in Europe! I would LOVE to go to Tokyo – definitely on my bucket list ![]()
Reese: I’m confused… are we talking about picking out a Christmas tree or reliving memories from Texas Chainsaw Massacre?
![]()
Pooor treeeees. I’m with Phoebe Bouffée !! ![]()
ReeseBun-what fun is that? When we went to the Christmas tree farm, we had to cut our own tree.
Agreed, LBJ. I remember my dad and old boyfriend laying in the snow with a handsaw one year. It was fun! Because I wasn’t cutting! Lol!
We always get a real one. We go to the tree farm, walk around for over an hour (since my sister is a perfectionist and needs the PERFECT tree >.<), then we cut it down and have to haul it up to the people to measure it so we can buy it and stuff.
I do hate the thought of cutting them down, considering how long they take to grow, but there’s nothing prettier than a real tree.
Christmas Music officially started playing on the radio station today!

ReeseBun-what fun is that? When we went to the Christmas tree farm, we had to cut our own tree.
My thoughts exactly. I always loved going to the farm to get one as well, getting to pick it out before cutting it down. Except for the one year where it turned into a nightmare horror story on the drive home when a huntsman spider crawled off the tree near us three kids, lol.
The trouble with real trees here is they don’t last long once they’re cut. Probably partly to do with it being summer, but I’m not sure pines last as long as the conifers anyway. We only used to ever get our tree a few days before Christmas, which made it even more exciting. My mum liked to make sure that the tree lasted for the 12 days of Christmas (Christmas Day is the first day). Usually after a couple of weeks the needles would start to drop like crazy, then mum wanted it out of the house, haha. We never had a fake tree, until I moved out of home a couple years ago, then I couldn’t afford to get a real tree every year myself, but still get to enjoy a real tree at my mum’s place ![]()
Christmas has changed a little for me since hubby and I have been together. Because his family opens presents on the morning of Christmas Day, but because my family is Lutheran, it’s traditional to open presents on Christmas Eve after going to Church and having supper. So now we do a bit of both
Plus it also depends when we go to my mum’s, not sure what day that will be this year.
Growing up, we always had a real tree. Our place had a long driveway lined with Pine trees, so we just picked out a branch of those. Mum would always say to “get a small one”. And they always looked small when Dad cut it down. Then we’d wash it and put it up inside and it always ended up touching the ceiling.
I think we got our tree the weekend before Christmas day.
I grew up on a farm and in Australia, the Christmas season coincides with harvest time and bushfire season. I remember one year a kids, we had some Disney Christmas music on in November and we were running around singing loudly in our kitchen. Dad walked in all dirty, hot and tired and quickly told us off! As an adult I can fully understand how grating that must have been for him. Busiest time of year that had to be timed perfectly to get the majority of the our income. So that stress along with being physically tired then walking into a house of rowdy kids… Yep, I would have been short tempered too if I was in his shoes too!
One year, when we as adults had all gathered at the farm for Christmas, there was a fire callout right as we sat down to eat. So my Dad and brother that are volunteers went out to that for several hours.
My brother now lives there and last year, a month before Christmas, there was a bad fire in the region. It was a scary day not knowing the status of the farm and how my brother and father were. The fire did sweep through and they lost some of their crops and fences and the house was threatened. Luckily, it wasn’t taken out like so many other homes where. So Christmas day was exactly 1 month later and we were counting our blessings and very grateful to be able to gather together.
These days we either go to where my parents now live or at one of my siblings places.
I haven’t done much in the way of decorating the last couple of years. It’s probably time to go through my stuff and make an effort. It does help get one in the mood for Christmas.
Im noticing more christmas lights being put up in peoples yards when I go for walks. The shops were already stocking Christmas stuff before Halloween. Then fully decked out the malls not long after.
I rebeled and started listening to my Pandora Christmas Station way before it was time.
I am currently working on a Christmas themed drawing for my art class, it features a bun looking out a snowy window. It just gets me so pumped!
Cold weather means…..let the Cookie legs commence!!!! Lol ![]()
Cookie legs?? ![]()
Our family opens presents Christmas Eve too… always has. Growing up, my parents would get us that year’s Disney VHS and we’d all snuggle on the couch after presents in our jammies and watch it together with cups of hot cocoa.
And we do Saint Nicholas on December 6 (which is also when I choose to have my birthday celebration… August is such a sad and lonely month for me…).
I’ve totally got my Michael Buble Christmas album playing right now. Up next: Joshua Bell’s one. ![]()
A family I knew growing up always celebrated St Nicholas’ day a lot too. I think they would bake their Christmas cookies on that day also.
In Sweden the 24th is the big day. Big dinner with family, Santa comes in the evening.
My sister in law wanted children so they’d do Christmas stuff together
Like bake gingerbread cookies and make tree ornaments and snow lanterns. That’s one of the best reasons I know for wanting to have children ![]()
Or bunnies… ![]()
No no nooooo !! It’s too early for all this festive talk. Bah humbug.
It’s like a firework set off too early – by the time Christmas comes it’s all too familiar and ‘had enough already’ of Carols, not ‘exciting’ as it could be and has fizzled out…
Bahhhhhh humbug.
![]()
Think we found the Grinch – oops, I meant Vienna.
That’s very true, though, Vienna.
We open our presents in the family Christmas morning. ![]()
In Portugal the most important celebration is also Christmas eve. We have cod for dinner and a ton of desserts, and after we open gifts. I’m not a Christmas person (bah humbug) but I’m excited to go home this year. My goddaughter is 9 and it should be a very fun Christmas at that age!
Its the first SNOW!!! Woot woot! It is snowing very hard for a first snow because of a low pressure front that is coming across us. It is snowing way harder than it looks like in the pictures! ![]()
![]()
…..let the Cookie legs commence!!!!
Is that the equivalent of Cookie hips and cookie tummies ??
Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas, the getting together, the pressies, the snow falling on Christmas morning (yeah right), the Christmas / Boxing day long walk followed by left over turkey sandwiches.
I just think the Christmas period should begin no earlier than 1st Dec, and I’d prefer a short, passionate and packed full Christmas period rather than the commercial, marketing, shopping one, which just seems to drag on when the decorations start being in shops mid Oct !!!
Bahhhhhh humbug… ![]()
I fleetingly thought cookie legs might mean BM bakes trays of gingerbread legs. You know, for Gingy from Shrek.
Didn’t know there was such a thing as cookie hips or tummies etc. This would be the same as a sugar belly, yes?
I’m with you on Christmas starting in at least December VB.
Lol!!! No, I meant *Wookie* legs. I didn’t realise my phone changed it!!!
Hmmm, now I’m envisioning leg shaped cookies.
Didn’t know there was such a thing as cookie hips or tummies etc.
Neither did I!! Just trying to imagine out what BM was talking about…
lol
I meant *Wookie* legs
I am NONE the wiser LOL ![]()
Lol Vienna. When the weather gets cold, I quit shaving my legs, what’s the point since I’m always in jeans. So I told my husband it’s Wookie leg season, or Sasquatch legs.
Then in spring, I tell him it’s time for the first mowing of the season lol
Reesebun (and everyone who has had a real tree) – You guys are lucky to at least have had a real tree once. We’ve never had one because even though they’re very pretty and natural compared to a real tree, they can get very messy and they don’t last that long… compared to the fact that we’ve had the same (fake) tree for my whole life (I think)… xD
Hopper – I love Christmas music. I don’t care who judges me… I’ll listen to it anytime… Speaking of which…. *Blares Jingle Bells* Also, if you can you should show the bunny drawing in the thread! I’d love to see it. :p
BrunosMama – Cookie legs? For me…. more like cinnamon roll legs… Also the fact that your phone auto-corrected it to cookie is so funny. xD
Q8Bunny – We had this tradition where my mom would hide a pickle ornament in the tree, and my brother and I would look for it, and whoever found it first got a surprise! A year or so ago someone found it first (I don’t remember who) but we both ended up getting our own ornaments.
Your cozy Christmas tradition sounds nice. :p Also, is it bad that I’ve never heard of Saint Nicholas’ Day?
Bam – So you live in Sweden? 😮 Also that sounds nice. My family wakes up around 9, we bake cinnamon rolls and open presents. It’s nice.
(P.S. I love family Christmases too.)
Vienna – I know it’s a bit early, but I never get old of Christmas. As soon as Halloween is over, I start thinking about Christmas. Also starting the 26th, I’m going to make a Thanksgiving thread where you can share pics of Thanksgiving food and talk about Thanksgiving stuff… unless someone else makes a thread, then I’ll just post a pic of my pumpkin pie, which is all I really eat around Thanksgiving.
Reesebun – Snow? Lucky!
Haven’t gotten snow here yet… sadly.
Here are some pics:

Ooooo, it was nice packing snow too. Cute snowman!
I think we’re due to get the snow tomorrow.
Snow! How beautiful
I never have had a white Christmas. I was in Germany for Christmas one year, but they had a warm winter ![]()
I hate snow… You’re lucky Azerane.
I don’t really mind the snow, as long as I don’t have to go out in it.
But I do miss hiking and such. I don’t do any winter sports.
I do hope we have a white Christmas this year though. We didn’t last year, and it was a real bummer.
BM– I hate shaving lol, it takes forever.
But I have irrational fears like ripping my pants and having to borrow somebody’s pants, and all that they’ll have is shorts or skirts and then everyone will see my Sasquatch legs lol.
So I usually keep them “groomed”
I do hate the stressful parts of Christmas though, like shopping for people. I never know what to get people. Also, I stink at wrapping gifts. I usually get frustrated and it looks like a 4 year old did it (okay that’s an insult to 4 year olds, they could probably do better than me ha ha) ![]()
Oh Wookie legs. Lol! That reminds me of a sub teacher we had in school. She kept her legs natural. She had a surname like Furnel, I think it was, so of course the boys started called her Miss Funnel, and it caught on.
Im all for people having their skin however they darn well please. Furry or not, inked or not, pierced or not. *shrugs*
Ooh that snow! So refreshing to look at that pic when it’s currently 95F here today.
Do you think ReeseBun’s ice cube trick would work here?
Chewie’s nervous after all this talk about eating Wookie legs and what not ![]()
Yesterday we broke out the annual Christmas chex mix recipe! Making chex mix is a Christmas tradition for our family and we make huge tins of it and I lasts us until Christmas! I am eating some while I type right now ![]()
I’ve had 2 HOT (sunny
) Christmases in my life…..
Couldn’t quite get my head around it. For me Christmas has to be cold and crispy, sitting around a fire and taking a brisk walk in the snow….
(But prawns on the barbeee on the beach was pretty cool too
)
Oooooooooohhh, ‘wookie’ legs !!!!!!
Moxie – your ideas on that may well change as you get older…
.. (Now I’m not saying that BM is old….. Noooooo sir’eeee!! Just that she’s (we’re) not as young as you…..
)
Lol Vienna….When I turned 25, I freaked out because I was ” a quarter century old”.
But yes, being older has its perks. Like having Wookie legs in winter. ![]()
I love the way we used to decorate our house at Christmas- we were never big for decorations and never bothered with a tree(we did when we were smaller but we always had some rescue animal around christmas that would destroy the tree in seconds so we gave up!)
but we all love lights, so we used to leave fairy lights all along the ground (floor lighting is a lovely effect) And we have lamps and tea lights that light the halls and front-door. Not really “Christmassy” but it always made the house feel warm.
Sadly, our lagomorph lodgers have ruined the tradition!
I love Christmas decor, especially lights. They just give off such a gentle, soft glow it makes me calm and happy just to think about it!
Dface, I’ve never even thought of floor lighting – and now it’s too late, because of my lagomorph addiction =D
But I’ve just bought new fairy lights for the living room, and arranged them in two tea-light lanterns and and yes, it’s beautiful. Fairy lights on the balcony went up last Sunday and now I’m just waiting for the really cold snowy winter we were promised.
I bet we won’t get that, but it’s early days yet – I keep telling myself.
I am getting lights to put around my window seat and, depending on the amount of lights that aren’t half dead, try the floor lights.
I am so sad, last weekend it was so pretty with snow but the sun melted half of it today
At least it is still chilly, there is still a chance!
I am really hoping for a white Christmas, but the weather forecast for the next month doesn’t look promising ![]()
Does anyone else make stockings for their buns? I go completely crazy… the bunnies look like they enjoy them… but i guess its more fun for me and the kids to go shopping and diy their toys together.
Today I’m heading to my mum’s place and we’re making honey biscuits. A Christmas tradition. Chances are I’ll eat half the dough before it gets made into biscuits, then we’ll bake them, and ice them as well
Should be a good day.
Ooooh yes Az,I’d forgotten as a child i used to eat all the dough before mum could get it in the oven!!!!
Yum Yum haven’t done it for years!!!
I love getting gifts for the pets
We don’t have Christmas stockings here, but if we had, I’m sure Bam would chew right through them to get to his pressies ![]()
We have small stockings with each pets name. A whopping 13 stockings! We usually hang them in front of the tree.
We have stockings, but I don’t know if I want to put them out this year. If the sight of Cash’s socks makes me cry, I don’t know if I could look at her stocking.
We do get presents for the animals and family members’ animals.
Well, I definitely ate way too much biscuit dough, and biscuits, and icing
Yum, yum, yum!!
I don’t have stockings for the pets, but I would like to give them each a Christmas present.
That’s my plan for next weekend: finding Chewie’s present ![]()
I’m thinking of getting Bam puppy pee pads for Christmas. So we can cuddle on the sofa over the holidays. I tried again the other day, but he just had to go. So I have to spend my evenings on the sofa behind X-pen like grids while the bunny roams the apartment =/
Not really funny and yet I LOLed as I imagined you in a sofa habitat surrounded by a bunny pen ![]()
Q8, it’s a nice habitat, though. And the SO is being nice and fetches me things so I don’t have to get up too often =) I do miss my little velvet bun there with me though.
Now you guys have got me really looking for Christmas pressies for Bam and Effi. Peepads, a hay house, a grass bed for Bam, new squeaky ball and an Orbiloc safety light for Effi – so many must-haves!
We got our Christmas tree! I will post a pic after we decorate it.
ReeseBun, can’t wait to see it =)
I need to figure out where to put our tree before I can even consider putting it up (plus it’s not December yet). The space that was available for a Christmas Tree, has for some reason been taken up by a rather large bird cage
No idea where the tree is going this year, haha.
Az, you could get a small tree and set it on top of Dory’s cage ![]()
Just kidding, I realize she may not appreciate this lol ![]()
Lol, for her to destroy when she comes out
That being said, she may land on and destroy our actual tree too, haha.
Here’s some of the honey biscuits my mum and I made yesterday. We have an ice cream container full. It’s probably less than 1/5th of what we baked. We didn’t have time to ice them all.

Lovely bisquits! We make ginger bread bisquits here but we pipe the icing and don’t use sprinkles – most g.b bisquits don’t have icing though. My mother was against icing on gingerbread bisquits when I was young, so one Christmas me and my brother snook up after our parents had gone to bed and put white and pink and green icing on the bisquits. And it was so pretty and Christmassy!
Those are not bisquits I’ve made, but that’s more or less how they’re supposed to look.
My mum did try piping some icing on, but got frustrated quickly and gave up, lol.
I did some Christmas shopping after work today. I fully intended to finish getting my husband’s gift in addition to siblings and mum etc. Instead, I got gifts for all my nieces and nephews! Why can’t adults be as easy to shop for as children ![]()
Chewie really is one our forum’s prettiest buns, literally every pic of him is insanely cute ^_^
Looking forward to Christmas as well, but first we celebrate Sinterklaas on the 5th. We roll from one holiday into the next. Sinterklaas is such a special family holiday, and a milestone in Dutch culture. Like many other Dutch I’m a traditionalist in this: no Christmas decorations until Sinterklaas has left the country. After all the Sinterklaas fun we always put the Christmas tree up on the 6th, looking forward to it ![]()
I’d never heard of Sinterklaas before, it’s really nice to hear about Christmas-traditions! We celebrate Lucia here on Dec 13. Lucia is a girl dressed in a white gown and she has a candle-light crown on her head and an entourage of girls in white gowns and candles in their hands, and Santa’s helpers and boys with really silly cone hats decorated with gold stars. They sing. We eat saffron bread.
That sounds very beautiful Bam, I’ve also never heard of it. Is it some kind of light-festival for the dark days? Or church inspired? From which country is this tradition?
I’ll open another topic about holiday traditions from around the world, this is really great to read!
Lucia was a Catholic saint from Sicily. We don’t really have saints since we’re not a Catholic country. The tradition has probably a lot more to do with the darkness in December.
-SCREAMS-
Yay! I love christmas to!
I just got my bun bun this year and Im so excited for her first christmas with me!!!
I spoiled her so much, I got her lots of toys, a new bag of treats, and a new sleeping mat ( she has had her old one for 2 years!
)
Christmas is my absiloute favirote holiday glad we can relate.
I really love the smell of timothy hay, which I give to Ace ( ace is my bun buns name. ).
I plan to just hang out with my bun and enjoy the smell of fresh timothy hay. My bun is a cuddley one so im gonna cuddle with her also ;3
On the none bun related topic I am so excited to wake up and get into christmas! This Thursday is the first day of December. You know what that means! CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN CALANDAR!
I get so excited every day for the countdown calandar. Its just so satifiying to wake up and know its one less day till the greatest holiday ever made! ( atleast in my opinion ).
As for hot coa coa I dont think its gonna be that much this year. Where I am its not ever that cold so hot coa coa is hard to enjoy.
This year we got a small christmas tree for the pets aswell.
Haha sorry for this SUUUPPPPERRR DUUUUUPPPEERR LONNNNGNGGGG reply
.
Have a very mery christmas Carly!
It’s been heavily overcast for over a week now, but the clouds simply won’t deliver on the promise of rain! Grey gloomy weather MUST be accompanied by rain, or else it’s a total copout – it’s bad enough there won’t be any serious snow as December approaches.
I DEMAND a good old flood so I can stay home with my snugglebug and drink hot fluids.
24 day left! (not that I’m counting down or anything)
And 6 until St Nicholas Day! Squee!!
And 10 until my mom arrives to meet her grandbun! ![]()

Oh no Ax! What a surprise! He sounds rather proud of himself though. ![]()
Our little Pine tree survived from last Christmas, so he got lights again this year. ![]()

…and the stockings were hung by the Xbox with care….(and in case you were curious, yes, that’s Patrick Stewart standing beside our TV lol)

I am ridiculously in love with Captain Picard ![]()
So am I! So my sisters bf got him for me for Christmas a couple years ago! ![]()
![]()
All those little stockings!!! That is so adorable.
I love Christmas!
We have yet to put up our tree. ![]()
Specially done for you and me, Q8 ![]()

I just bought a bunch of stuff on Amazon. Just need to get some gift cards and I will be pretty much done with shopping. Meanwhile, I keep dropping hints here and there for my husband… :p
OhIloveIloveIlove!
Yoohoo! Captain! Oh, Captain! I’ve been a really good girl this year ![]()
Captain Picard!
BM, those wittle stockings! That’s so adorable I’m lost for words!
Haha, yes!
I think I remember seeing that last year, it’s too funny ![]()
Ha ha very good. I’ll send that to my dad. A closet Trekkie !!! ![]()
Yah… old fave ![]()
I’m so impatient! There is normally snow on the ground from early November and through March, but this year there has only been one case of snow staying on the ground in late November! I really hope this is going to be a white Christmas.![]()
ReeseBun – What’s the matter with you? LOL The thought of snow makes me cringe. I still don’t know how well my new car will do on it. People say they can get around just fine, but they probably don’t live somewhere where they don’t plow the residential streets. My whole neighborhood won’t be plowed this year because they changed the bus routes. There used to be a bus that came through here so they at least plowed the path it too through the neighborhood. Now we won’t even have that. *sigh*
LBJ, can’t you have studded tires? I know they’re prohibited in some places though. But they really make life a lot easier when there’s snow.
ReeseBun, I envy you. Snow is beautiful and useful. Effi (dog) can pull her pink plastic sledge, I’ve sewn a Nome-harness for her. She looks terribly cute pulling a sledge.
Other useful things about snow is you can build snow-lanterns. You can walk on frozen lakes.
What’s a snow lantern, Bam? ![]()
This is a snow lantern:
I can see how it’s not a big item in Kuwait, but you must have them in Canada?
So pretty!
Nope, though, never seen them before…
No, we can’t have studded tires.
LBJ, then I can fully understand why you don’t want snow ![]()
Well it snowed today. It wasn’t supposed to snow. But it snowed. It wasn’t sticking to the main streets, but it was sticking to the street in my neighborhood so I was a bit nervous driving home just now. My car has that “no traction” warning thing and it lets off the brakes automatically if it feels itself sliding. It scared the crap out of me. ![]()
Yikes, clever car!
Are you allowed to use tire chains?
Be safe on those snowy roads!
We just finished putting up the Christmas tree
I was going to wait a little longer, but I figured we’re going to carols by candlelight next week anyway so Christmas will then truly be in full swing. The bunnies don’t care, although Dory seems very entertained by it and the Christmas music ![]()

Jersey – Nope, against city ordinance. Yet they don’t plow the streets either, so…
Azerane – That’s such a pretty tree! Do the buns like it?
LBJ, how weird. In the EU there are quite high fines if you don’t have tire chains in the car, and use them when there’s a need. It’s just to avoid traffic chaos. But studded tires are prohibited in most countries.
Azerane, that’s a beautiful tree! Wouldn’t Dory like to sit where the star is now?
There’s an idea bam! Az, if you could put a horizontal perch in place of the star when Dory is out, would she avoid the rest of the tree?
Thanks everyone. The bunnies seem completely indifferent to the tree, which I suppose is a good thing.
I can’t even imagine the chaos Dory will cause when we let her out next.
I’m sure she would love to sit where the star is and play with all the ornaments. I doubt she will avoid the rest of the tree if there is a perch on top. What I’m expecting is for her to try and land on the star, and for it to fall off when she does so, lol. It will certainly be interesting.
Please film it, Azerane!
She’ll have so much fun
![]()
Fun is a synonym for chaos right?
Will do my best to film it!
So pretty, Az!
![]()
We might get the Christmas tree today… will only take up a few hours due to some very indecisive family.
Bam – They don’t want people using them because they damage the streets. They are just supposed to plow, but with budget cuts they haven’t been doing a very good job. The residential streets are largely untouched. Oh well, at least it was warm enough for the snow to melt today. Once we get further into winter, it will snow and then be very cold for a week afterward and the snow won’t melt. Everything just gets packed down and is a sheet of ice. Delightful!
BunnyFriends – Are you going to a tree farm? Good luck! LOL
Well, I thought I was almost done. My mother in law asked if I could pick out some earrings for her. I had bought some for her years ago and she liked them. Pressure is on!
Nah, you’ll do great! ![]()
Studded tires and tire chains do damage streets and are bad for the environment. We can use them here because the whole country would stop if we couldn’t, and that would be bad for economy and a million other things.
Picking out earrings for your mother in law sounds a bit scary, but as we know you have excellent taste in cars and sofas, so you’ll of course do great.
I’m currently clicker-training Bam to accept his Santa’s outfit. My SO was afraid he’d trip on it because it is a bit long. Sometimes I wonder what goes on in his head. My plan is to put that coat and hat on Bam very briefly, to take a couple of pix. He’s not supposed to actually wear it all through Christmas =D
Az. How tidy is your bun area!?!? Mine is a nightmare. Fluff, hay, bits here and there…. Can’t keep anything tidy for 10 mins…. so ive given up trying….
heres hoping that with bonded buns not requiring cages it will be easier….
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa (breathe Vienna, breathe!)
@Vienna. To be fair, I gave it a deep clean the day before setting up the tree.
It’s usually full of fluff and hay.
Aww, thanks. It isnt that I don’t know what she likes, I just worry I won’t be able to find it. I was looking last night at one store and didn’t find much. There were a couple of maybes, but I felt they were too small. She likes larger studs that cover her earlobes.
In the north of France (why only the north??) we eat little baby Jesus’es! yup, no shame !! LOL ![]()
They are made from brioche with big chunks of sugar in them (omg, when you crunch into one!! you can see some on the top) and if you squint when looking at the photo and allow yourself a HUGE imagination, you can see (yes, you can!) a little baby Jesus in swaddling clothes ! Sorry, I just can’t tell you which way up he should be! LOL ![]()
We get a huge one (check out the mug next to it!) from work each Christmas (and a bottle of Champagne
) and I can confirm that neither last very long
![]()
This year we got 6 little baby Baby Jesus’es too !!!
(Of which there are 2 less than an hour ago
burp )

Now I’m hungry ![]()
Oh shame
I’m not !!!!
![]()
They sound really nice, Vienna. I’ll be baking “lussebullar” tomorrow. It’s saffron bread with raisins. To celebrate Lucia.
Oh that looks delicious Bam! They look quite a lot like “Brezeln”, a treat that my grandma used to make for easter. She was born in Germany.
We used this pic of Butternut on our Christmas cards this year. ![]()
.jpg)
BM, she’s adorable! I’m not sure she thinks so herself, but she would if she could see herself.
Hmmm. Maybe I should show her the picture lol. She definitely has a barely tolerating this look. ![]()

We used this pic of Butternut on our Christmas cards this year.
I’m sorry, I just had to. I just watched that episode of GoT
Hehehe, that pairs so well with that quote. Yes, Butternut looks very brooding in that pic ^_^
Here in NL there’s this brilliant Christmas commercial from an online store. It makes references to the song “Flappie” from the Dutch comedian Youp van het Hek. It’s a Christmas song turned disturbing meant to shock people, and every Dutch person knows it. It’s about a little boy whose rabbit Flappie is missing on Christmas, and he’s looking all around the house for him. At dinner it turns out that his dad has butchered the rabbit to cook for dinner. So the next day the little boy serves his family his dad for dinner. Yay, holiday cheer! Ahem…
Anyway, here’s the commercial, might by a bit too exciting for little bunbuns.
Ah! Guys! I’m soooooo sorry that I haven’t posted on this chat in so long! D:
All your buns, Christmas trees, and Christmas treats look awesome!
I’m going to be posting a pic of my Christmas tree soon! We’ve had it “done” for quite awhile but it’s kinda not completely finished because it doesn’t have a star or angel on it. ![]()
I’m starting another Christmas topic soon (I know I’m an insane Christmas freak) but it’ll be different this time. xD It’s going to be a “What’s the favorite gift you’ve received this year?” and “What’s the favorite gift you’ve gifted this year?” chat.
Is that a good idea?
It’ll be up by like 11ish or 10ish (on Christmas day) idk. Might post it early because we celebrate Christmas at like 9 AM. ![]()
Hi Carly
It’s a very nice idea! This thread is a lot of fun still though!
Is anyone else struggling to focus in work this week?!
I just wish it was Christmas already – I’m a PhD student and our lab/offices close for 11 days over the holidays so I’m SO excited for a break. Having said that though I will probably be reading loads and working on data while I’m off
the PhD is always lurking in the background even over the holidays!
Im definitely looking forward to the Christmas break, I’m really dragging a leg going off to work. BUT, it also means I won’t have pay for 2-3 weeks. ![]()
Do you not get paid for your holiday time jerseygirl?!
No, because Im only casually employed. I do have some days of child minding lined up so I’ll get a little bit of money from that at least.
Aww, Butternut is so adorable
Definitely struggling to focus this week Theo, but I think mainly because I’m more tired than usual.
That sucks about the lack of pay JG, that’s the main problem with casual work. By the way, love your current avatar pic ![]()
That does suck, Jersey =( I hope you’ll have the merriest of merry Christmases though, now when you have time to enjoy it.
Butternut is really too adorable, and in no way do I wish to imply that she has anything in common with the horrible Cersei Lannister.
Yeah, I can’t focus alright, but it’s not really because of Christmas. :p
This is so horrible! Instead of two weeks of Christmas vacation, now we only have one! So now we still have a whole week left after this one!
I’m in all next week as well, but I can’t complain. There are many workers, especially retail etc who only get a day or 2 for Christmas which is really hard.
I’m in a Bah Humbug! mood today anyhow.
My winter break starts December 23rd. Two days before Christmas…. Sigh. ![]()
Christmas day falls on a Sunday so in France that means “tough poo”, national holiday lost.
So to have Monday off (uk nat hol) I have to take holiday… yay…. (but compared to those who don’t have any paid holiday,
I guess I can’t complain) ![]()
Vienna, I like our system better! I get three days off over Christmas, because it falls on a Sunday the public holiday gets pushed forward to the Monday, and because Monday is also a holiday (Boxing Day/Proclomation Day) that gets pushed to the Tuesday. So there’s two public holidays.
No lost public holidays here! The same thing happens with New Years Day the week after. If I wasn’t working Saturday 24th, I’d have a four day weekend. ![]()
How nice that they push the national holiday forward
We don’t have that. When it’s on a Sunday it’s “lost”.
Yep, my holiday is that Monday. Legally, they have to give you a holiday here.
Carly’s rabbits, mine is too this year! I don’t know why the schools changed it, but I do not like it. ![]()
Okay, need some help! I was only going to get 2 pairs. I have 5 pairs (ordered on online, figured I’d return them). So… which ones do you guys like best?
Hey guys!! Long time no talk!! All is well here…been working really hard to “bond” Walker and Sage….anyway just wanted to wish everybody a Safe and Happy Holiday Season….

LuvFurBabies, that’s a beautiful picture! They are so pretty both of them! I too have a bunny and a GSD. They’re not bonded, they just coexist, but the dog does tend to steal bunny’s veg so I have to keep an eye. Have a wonderful, safe and happy holiday season you too =)
LBJ, I like the Robert Lee Morris best and next best the Worthington, but I’m not very good at these things.
Finally got our tree up. ![]()
LBJ I like the top two the best I think
especially the vera bradley ones. Although the Robert Lee Morris ones are nice too – what colour is the stone in them?
LFB !!!!!!!!!!!! yayyyyyyyyyy !!! Great to hear from you !!!!
LBJ – sooo difficult as they are really a personal decision… they are all nice but it dépends if they’re for every day wear (silver, goes with naything) special nights out (red, then you wear red) and so on…. but they are all pretty neutral….. go with your gut feeling..
– which ones would you think about alot if you sent them back ?? LOL and that’s your answer.. ![]()
Hey Vienna!!! I’m still alive and so are the “kids” very busy Holiday Season!!! As you can see from the photo Walker and Sage are doing very well!!!
I love this time of year!!!
LBJ the Robert Lee Morris ones are my fav.
Theo – It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the stones are a translucent grey-ish color. The almost look metallic, if that makes sense. I think they’re pretty.
I should also note that she likes bigger earrings, but not really big. And studs.
My vote is for the Vera Bradley and Worthington ones. ![]()

Very sweet, reesebun. ![]()
Awww, just when you thought Reese couldn’t get any cuter!
So! 5 days to go !!! Everybun got their pressies all bought and wrapped and hidden !!
All parents ready for the explosion of excitement ?? It’s all about the kids really isn’t it? (*)
(*) and the pressies ![]()
ReeseBun – Reese is so cutely photogenic
Vienna – Just finished wrapping my last gift last night! Just in time too as Oreo (my cat) and Luna have been trying to beat down the door everyday to the room where all the wrappings and goodies are.
She loves to pose for the camera most of the time…
Thanks Luna, but only if you catch me at the right time!
LOL
I don’t have any gifts wrapped yet. I just haven’t had time. =\
Reese is just stunning.
Reese is a cutie pie. ![]()
All my shopping is done and wrapped and under the tree. My husband still has gifts for me to be shipped and wrapping to do. So I’m sure five minutes before we open gifts, he will wrap them lol
Tomorrow night we are going Christmas caroling with some people from church then everyone is stopping at my mom’s for cocoa and cookies.
I love caroling, but that means I’ll be dashing about, cleaning her apartment tomorrow
(I should point out she’s poorly, so my sister and I keep house and cook for her.)
Tonight my husband and I are doing our (fairly new) tradition of watching a Christmas movie and sharing a shrimp ring. Tonight’s movie is the Grumpy Cat Christmas movie. Yay! ![]()
Not all gifts made and wrapped yet
wish me luck at getting them all done before Christmas, haha!![]()
![]()
Yep, I’m turning into a grinch already. LOL
We were at the hardware store and we were only buying 2 little things. We get in line behind this guy that just has some plywood since everyone else has carts filled with stuff. We figured it wouldn’t take him too long to checkout. Well, he gets up to the cashier and she starts ringing in the plywood. Suddenly these kids appear out of nowhere that are apparently his. Okay, they were probably messing around and then realized their dad was checking out. Then a woman comes up, I’m assuming his wife. She goes in front of, not only us, but two other people in line behind us with a cart FILLED TO THE BRIM with all of this stuff. The older boy looked back towards all of us waiting in line and he said “we have all of this too”. I think the stares must have been piercing from all of us, including myself. And I said aloud, “we only have 2 things”… sort of in a huff. LOL The woman apparently took the hint and went to the back of the line. Sorry, I don’t care if your husband is checking out, you can’t cut in line with a cart full of stuff like that.
Yep, I’m a grinch. :p
You’re not a grinch, LBJ. People shouldnt cut in line like that.
I’m hoping to decorate the bunnies’ cage tomorrow. I’m thinking some willow garland, and I kept a branch of willow as it was so that I can use it as a tree for them. I already changed their fleece today to some more Christmas appropriate colours/designs. Not sure if I’ll do much with the rest of their cage, maybe a couple of Christmas bon bons with forage or treats inside. I like the snowflakes I hung up last year for Bandit but I just don’t have that kind of time this year.
As I’m typing this, I’m also wondering how the bunny poop got next to the couch, more than 2 meters from the bunny play zone. ![]()
ETA: ONLY 5 DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!! *flails* ![]()
Nope, you’re not a grinch LBJ, that was just plain rude of them.
In these situations I always tell myself: “Some people are like slinkies: utterly dumb and useless, but they do bring a smile to your face when they fall down the stairs.”
Ahem… *whistles and walks away slowly*
Eek!! So excited for Christmas now. Just waiting on their cardboard castle turning up – Spoilt bunnies
AxGizmo – Those bags are awesome! Did you make them yourself or custom order?

Ooooh my bunnies have a cardboard castle – they love it!
AxGizmo – those bags are adorable!! Where did you get them? It’s too late for this year but I’d love it for next year!
Well, I sure felt like one. Nothing gets my blood boiling more than having to wait in line forever, especially when you only have a couple of things.
AxGizmo- those are super adorable!
I saw these gorgeous knitted style stockings at Target this year, with a letter stitched on to them. They were lovely and wanted to get one for the bunnies and Dory, but they didn’t have any of the letter of their names left.
It’s going to be very hot here this Christmas, don’t think we’ve had one this hot in a while. Christmas Eve, 37C; Christmas Day, 40C; Boxing Day, 40C. The air conditioner is definitely going to be running all weekend ![]()

Phew! Here I am complaining about 21C weather
Don’t know how you aussies do it!
I am woefully unprepared for Christmas. It’s the first year my partner and I are holding Christmas day at our house for friends who aren’t going away for the holidays, and it’s much more work (and money!) than expected. We’ve gotten everything sorted for Buffy at least! Groceries still need to be done, and with a few people saying last minute that they’ll be coming to our place, we’re scrambling around trying to let little gifts so that no one feels left out. It should be worth it though!
Well, I managed to make rocks for cookies. =\ I needed them for a party after work tomorrow. I don’t have time to make more.
Sorry to hear that LBJ, have you thrown them away already? Some cookies soften overnight, they might be tasty tomorrow.
That is very true, Ellie, but it mostly happens to cookies that you don’t want to go soft =)
Don’t throw them out anyway, LBJ. You can crush them and mix them with icecream for you and hubby =)
Christmas should be interesting, if the temperature reaches what they’re forecasting, it will supposedly be the hottest Christmas here in over 70 years. Air con will more than likely be on 24/7.
It looks like we’ll be getting the normal 5 C rain/mist Christmas we always seem to get here =)
I’ve bought all my gifts now, and that’s a relief.
I got them from Ebay – Item number: 391588042695.
Cardboard castle arrived today, cant wait to put it together tonight!
Well we are definitely going to have a white Christmas here lol. We have like a foot and a half of snow, and snowbanks higher than my waist!
I hope everybody’s Christmas plans/preparations are going well! ![]()
I threw them away. They tasted like they were burned.
I did find the perfect white elephant gift for tonight though. It’s even Christmas themed!
Forecast is now 50sF for Christmas day, with a 50% chance of thunderstorms. WTH? O_o
For some reason, there is going to be a hot christmas everywhere! Here, on saturday it is supposed to be up to 38 degrees farenheit!!! ![]()
Christmas forecast here is 37F – no complaints since it’s been hanging around 18F or below.
Wow Luna, our weather is almost the same
Is Bunny Town in Michigan?
Luna…..
Bam…. what a brilliant idea, I’ll have to do that next cake bake! I have pressies to get but first i have to work out what I’ve already got and their recipients…. “noooow, who did i buy that for?!” and who is the ever elusive missed pressie ‘OUPS’ person….
Moxie!!! Photos are requested please. Photos !!!!!
Ax !!!!! See above. Moxies request please…… Photos !!!!
Reese, I LOVE that avatar artistry of Reese
My fridge freezer has just gone KAPUT !!!! Roll. On. 2017…. ![]()
My biggest Christmas essential got delivered tonight
30 kg of hay
Pippi said that’ll do him fine, what about buying some for everybun else though ![]()
bad timing VB, I hope it wasn’t full of Christmas food ![]()
No…. luckily. It could have been worse.
Neighbours helped out on stocking freezer stuff and Ikea helped out by providing big plastic box to put outside as a temporary fridge ?
Christmas is a family affair and unless everyone wants food poisoning it is never at my tiny abode….. I’m crossing back on Xmas eve
![]()
That s-cks, Vienna =( But it’s of course a bit less bothersome this time of year than it would’ve been in, say, July.
I’ll try within the next couple of days Vienna!
We are going to be getting a warmish Christmas too (The high is supposed to be 32 F [ 0 C] and the low is supposed to be 7 F [-13.8889 C]) haha xD I don’t mind though, the temp has been like -10 F (-23.333 C) lately. All of our water was frozen all day yesterday because it was so cold, so that was a pain in the butt lol
![]()
I can safely say we won’t be having a “warm Christmas” you speak of, it’s going to be a Too Darn Hot Christmas. 40C or 104F for you Imperialists.
We’re gathering at my brothers place for lunch. They put in a pool earlier this year so there is that option to cool off.
p.s. I want a Reese Bun for Christmas. Thanks Santa! ![]()
40 C sounds pretty lovely to me but I know it isn’t really. I was in Sevilla once when it was 43 C. It wasn’t pleasant.

I do! Southeastern – metro detroit area.
I live a bit south of Grand rapids
Nearly Christmas time! I just went to my local cheap store and bought toys for the pets. Ogg will be getting a cat toy designed to be destroyed. It’s made of carboard which is basically in a spiral with a ball in the middle. Seeing as Ogg chews things but doesn’t ever eat them this should be perfect for her. ![]()
ReeseBun – yikes well I guess I’ll have to tell Luna she won’t be able to use cups on the end of a string to talk with Reese lol (2.5 hours distance). Though its nice to know there’s another Michiganderbun
Bianca – I hope Ogg enjoys it! I too have perused the cat toy aisle as inspiration for new bun toys…well and also for toys for my cat.
So do I. She is still grieving a bit for Weatherwax, so she isn’t as playful as normal right now, and it is also just really hot, but I think she will love it in the future. She loves toys she can destroy. Mind you, if I put it just out of her reach and tell her “no” a few times, she would want it even more! ![]()
My buns had a cardboard cat scratcher before. They liked it. ![]()
Ok…….
TA-DA!!!!

LBJ – if that turtle rolls to move then I want it! lol
It’s a caterpillar. You can fold it over into itself to make different shapes. And yes, the wheels turn.
LBJ10, that is awesome. I bet your bunny will love it.
Im sure they would. But I think my niece will like it more. ![]()
Christmas is in two days! ![]()
Still bummed that there are no Christmas emoticons… but that doesn’t matter because I’m still in the Christmas spirit. xD
Who’s in favor of me doing a “What I Got For Christmas” video?
I’ve already planned what I’m going to wear on Christmas and how my hair is going to look.
(I’m going to wear a baggy t-shirt and these cute leggings my mom got me, and I’m going to braid my hair on Christmas Eve night so I don’t have to make my hair look nice in the morning.
)
I also found this channel on On Demand on the TV and it’s a “Yule Log 2016” show thing, and it’s basically just a burning log with Christmas music so I’ll be playing that on the TV on Christmas.
Also I still have 2 more lessons to do before I’m on Christmas break. My Christmas break officially started yesterday but I was slacking so I ended up having to do some work today because I’m online schooled. xD
Oh my gosh guys, I have to share the CUTEST thing Buffy just did!
It’s Christmas eve here, so my boyfriend and I have been preparing for celebrations. We have a lot of friends in the LGBT community who don’t have supportive families and a lot of friends who have family out of town they can’t get to this year, so we’re having Christmas at our place for anyone who doesn’t have a place to go.
Today I swept the floors, which is always something that intrigues Buffy. She loves chasing the broom, throwing around the brush, and sitting in the dustpan. Today she finally clicked on to what I was doing, so she went to her box of blankets, pulled out a scarf, ran over to me, and started sweeping the scarf over the floor next to me with her paws. It was adorable! Of course, by “helping” she just got more hay everywhere, but how can you care when your bunny is doing something that cute?
(We also have a watermelon in the fridge getting slowly infused with vodka, and presents… on the bookshelf, because Buffy is curious about how to unwrap things that are on the floor)
LBJ, that’s pretty cool!
Carly’s rabbits, I think a video would be happily received here. If you are under 18, just be sure your parents are okay with it and don’t show your face (Showing the back of your head so we can see the braids would be fine.
). Also, take care not to film anything that identifies your full name or where you live.
Gwennie and the Buffster, that is cute! I wonder if she will show your guest the new trick or be shy and hide away?
That is a lovely thing you and the bf are doing for your friends. I think it’s incredibly sad when someone is ostracized from their own family. It’s great when anyone facing that in their life have supportive friends and communities. It’s a “chosen family” really.
Thanks Jerseygirl! <3 Buffy usually loves company and licks/climbs on all our visitors. She gets distressed when the neighbors have parties and pines at the window to see all the people. She's not shy at all! She seems to know something exciting is happening tomorrow, because she's been especially bouncy over the last couple of days. I think all the boxes, wrapping paper tubes, and wrapping paper are more of a hit than her actual presents will be!
I’m a huge advocate for “chosen families”. Sometimes the people who support and love you the most aren’t related by blood, and our little family of me, my boyfriend, and the Buffster have more than enough love to give to special people in our lives!
Pics from the link are showing up really big for me – not sure why! Sorry in advance if they are hard to view.
I forgot I had these pics on my phone!
Pudding assembly the other day at Mum’s with help of my nieces and nephew. The tray is is sitting on is about 60cm diameter, so it makes the pudding appear smaller in a way. There were 3 made this size. I think they weigh about 3kgs.
The decadent mix. It doesn’t look too appetising but it smells nice.
The fabric clipped togther before being tied and boiled for 6 hrs.
Gwennie. Sounds heaps of fun at yours for tomorrow !!!
I’d pop by and have a lick of that water melon ? if you lived closer….
Its a crying shame that some people’s minds are SO closed to ANY other ways of thinking than THEIR own, that they can’t see the hurt it causes to ones they (are supposed to) love by refusing to open their eyes and their hearts. And thereby hurting themselves in return.
Just talk together, calmly. Listening and trying to understand the other person’s point of view and if not understanding, then accepting.
Stoopid, stubborn hoomans.
Hooray for understanding families, friends and soulmates ❤️ ?
Bam wishes all of you a very merry Christmas!
Bam in his grandma’s arms. He had his complete Santa’s outfit on at first, but he somehow managed to squirm out of it.![]()
![]()
That’s great Gwennie! I’m glad you’re able to do that.
Ugh, the Christmas drama has already begun around here. I really wish it wasn’t like this every year, but it is. This time my mom is upset about something my brother said/did. =\
Merry Christmas from Blue, Bombur, and Badger! ![]()
Merry Christmas!
LBJ10, sorry to hear your Christmas isn’t going well. Holidays with the family can be stressful!
Buffy is all tuckered out from her big day of binkies and presents. Here she is snuggling her ice packs. Too sweet <3

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !!!!!!!!
It is 10am. I’ve just got up in pjs and mum and dad are both in different rooms of the house watching recorded tv !!!!!!! LOL !!!!!!!!!
@Bam: that really is a look that says “I’m doing this because I love you and it’s Christmas” !!!!!!! LOL
(And even bam has his own emoji when i write his name… ? ) ![]()
Merry Christmas everyone!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.
I’m upstairs on a PC.
Hear my in-laws fight all day, hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.
If they make my boyfriend cry again,
We’ll be home within the day!
Blugh… Some people will get muzzles from Sinterklaas next year. More peace and quiet next Christmas…
It’s 6 in the morning and I am not allowed to wake up my parents until 7! I can’t wait to see them open up the presents I got them
Lol ReeseBun. Maybe the dog will have to *accidently* wake them.
I’m sorry some of you are experiencing tension at family gatherings. That is sad. : ( Fingers crossed things improve!
I feel so very grateful for my family.
Lol but before I wake them, I have to take care of the dog (potty and breakfast, and sometimes if I’m lucky the dog somehow figures out how to open up my parents bedroom door and jumps all over them) and make cappuccinos for everyone with the new espresso bar that my dad got for his early Christmas present (it came in the mail with no cover box and he saw it, so my mom just decided to give it to him lol)
Haha! I read that like the dog has to make everyone cappuccinos. Lol!
Did you get any snow after all?
Oh yeah! I forgot to say that we got a foot and a half mid december but by now it compacted down to about a half a foot
Well, it wouldn’t be Christmas is family members weren’t fighting. I just don’t like being put in the middle of things.
We have plans to go to my in-laws this evening. Rain is coming. Ok, not just rain. A severe thunderstorm with rain and hail. =\ It should be here right when we’re supposed to leave. I’m cooking a roast because my mother-in-law’s oven is broken. So the roast will be done at a certain time and, well, that’s when the storm is supposed to get here. *sigh* It is fast moving, so I’m hoping it will blow through here quickly so we can leave. Nothing is worse than trying to drive somewhere in the rain/wind/hail.
We’ll be getting a storm here as well, tomorrow evening. We tend to get storms in Dec/Jan.
Don’t drive in a storm, LBJ. Trees can fall over cars. No doubt you know that, but still.
I. Am. Full. Up. And. Ready. To. EXPLODE !!!!!!!!
With turkey (and ALL the trimmings!!!) and cups of tea on top……. ? ? ?
Good Xmas day all round. Most pressies a success. (Phew)
Still miss my pup terribly, especially on days like Xmas day and boxing day, where walks are obligatory and very used to sneaking cut off bits of turkey to a patient mouth waiting 6 inches from my knee. Luckily my brother has 2 lovely cats so i got my furball cuddle quota ![]()
I hope everyone had/is having a lovely Christmas. We went to my mum’s yesterday and ate way too much, of course. Presents were successful which is always good, but I think the food was more successful, lol. All those special things that my mum only makes on Christmas. We also now have a large chunk of ham in the fridge ![]()
That’s true sadly LBJ.. Some people just can’t put their ego on hold and be civil for two days. My BF’s older brother is a loud guy who wants to a manager. Anyone with less ambition is a loser according to him, and of course this must be pointed out at any occasion. He can’t stop picking on his little brother, or starting fights with him. It’s horrible and it upsets everyone. And I have to comfort my BF all the time, because he’s so soft-hearted that he takes it very personally. Sorry for my rants btw, it’s also very stressful for me and such a shame for their parents. Anyway, be safe LBJ! Hope that your dinner will be a success ^_^
Awww Vienna, missing your pets is just the worst. Hopefully you’ll get lots of kitty love.
Our evening was also cheered up by kitty love. We both had completely gone through our reserves of “social skills”, so we took a flashlight and took a nice walk in the dark through the fields around the village. It was beautiful and we saw a lot of stars.
On the way back we were surprised by extremely loud mewing, and a cat walked up to us. Turns out it was the same cat who spontaneously accompanied us for a walk last year. He/she probably remembered that we were very friendly then and had good petting skills. The cat accompanied us nearly all the way home, wanting to stop for pettings every now and then. Yay, animals are awesome!
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa!!! ![]()
Made some treats for Chomondeley, he will receive them later tonight…![]()
Anyone else made gifts for their rabbit?? I didn’t know what else to make/get, so I just went with a safe one- his favorite treats. (He’s very picky.)
Hope everyone had a great day!
Aww, I’m sorry Ellie. There hasn’t been anything too serious yet, but it doesn’t sound like that is the case with you.
Yeah, tomorrow is the big day. I’m hoping everything will just be the usual awkward tension and everyone avoid the subject.
Oh, and we did make it there with the roast, carrots, potatoes, and asparagus intact. Just in case anyone was wondering.
The rain came and then it was gone. We left after the nastiest part had passed. I hope everyone else had a good holiday and I hope the weather didn’t interfere with anyone’s plans.
Hi. I’m new to the Binky Bunny website, I just registered yesterday. I’m still figuring out lots of stuff, and still messing up quite a bit… I posted a reply five times by accident. Anyways, just hoping some of you might give me some pointers. I am kinda shy to this kind of stuff but I really enjoy this website! Thanks for your help!
Hi and welcome Mari and Lili bunny! If you happen to double-post, we leaders will delete the extras when we see them, so never mind that!
LBJ, so glad you made the trip safely
Ellie, that’s a real jerk of a brother in law! It’s hard to shake off criticism when it comes from a very close family-member, however unfair and rude that criticism may be, so I can very well understand that it must hurt Bas. I’m glad he has you and Breintje!
Bam. Sorry, had to laugh… (or else you made me laugh on purpose.).. your post has double posted… !!!
(I’ll mp a FL to delete it !!! LOL ?
)
Vienna, that made me laugh too
Deleted it now. I’m in the car, we’re transporting a boat to a safe place because of the big storm that’s about to descend on us tonight. Did it hit you badly in the U.K.? They said you had it 2 days ago.
Welcome Mari and Lilo! Don’t worry about the multiple posts. It happens to many of us all the time!
@bam, well done for getting Bam into the suit and hat! His expression is typical bunny disapproval but funny all the same.
@Ellie, my guess is your BIL is frustrated at not having made manager yet and taking out his frustration on others. That’s no excuse for treating people poorly though. If he picked on his younger brother when growing up, he might be reverting to old ways. Family members can be easy targets and “safe” targets, meaning they (the antagonist) think they can get away with it-to a degree. Is this the same BIL you knitted the Sinterklaas underwear for?! If so, I think he should have them confiscated!
I hope Bas can see the issue is probably not truly with him. It’s good he has you there for support and you were able to go out and enjoy yourselves.
Bam. My family is in the South East and no storms seen….. thanks for asking. Lovely blue skies and yeah a bit of a wind, but nothing drastic.
(And, btw, you must be in a REEEEEALLY big car……. !!!!!)
Ellie, i think it could be nice if someone said gently and very seriously (as to make an impact, rather than during an argument for ex.) to BIL that his comments to Bas hurt him very much and ‘we’ (the BB members incl
) would prefer it if he refrained from making comments like that.
Sometimes that works, the said attacker too blind to realise the effects their words have.
I’ll give you an ex. A friend of mine once said how very hurt they felt when (well meaning) family members said something like ‘not pregnant’… that old gem… unbeknownst to the family the couple were trying very hard to fall pregnant, even to IVF level, but instead of saying so, they preferred just to smile it off and say, “no its not the right time yet.”….
Now I know that it may not be the business of the well meaning relatives to know this, but knowing the family, i know that if the couple had said “we are trying very hard, we would love to be pregnant and please don’t keep asking because it hurts each time you do”, the family would have understood and let things lie…… ( i remember this story each time i’m tempted to ask seomthing like that….
Anyhoo, maybe BIL is a big bully, but its worth a try and maybe he might see through his comments…… ![]()
Thank you so much for making me feel welcome! ![]()
Vienna, the boat was on a trailer behind the car =) It all went without a problem, thankfully. The storm is due at around 1 pm. I’m glad your family wasn’t exposed to it.
Christmas is nearly over. Bam is happily muching on apple twigs.
Bam ? (!). I just love it that you get my humour !!!!!!!! Lmao !!!!
Vienna, I just love it that Bam has his own emoji on your Ipad =)
Thank you for your kind words everyone
Sadly my BIL has been a bully since childhood, and my BF is always on the receiving end. Their dad does his best to keep him in check, but that also leads to heated arguments.
Bas told him often during Christmas that he’s ruining it for everyone, especially for their mom. Nothing seems to help. We’ll see what we’ll do next year. Bas even said that he’s thinking of only visiting his parents on the second day of Christmas, when his brother has left. Not an ideal solution either, but he’s so sick of being harrassed and belittled all the time.
Sounds a good idea for all round Ellie…. find something wonderful to do on 25th (stay in bed all day, all 3 of you!!!!) and then see parents the following day…. in calm and tranquility… ![]()
Or suggest to your BIL what a great thing it would be for (him! ) to go on holiday over the festive period. Sun, sea and satisfied inlaws….
