Hi! I’ve been on this forum before but I lost my password and my email password so I had to make a new account.
I’ve been trying to rescue as many rabbits as possible and bringing them inside. Needless to say, I am pretty experienced with rabbits (owned one in the past), so I do know the basics and the behaviours of rabbits.
However, my father threw away my storage grids I used for my rabbit’s cage and it’: been pretty difficult trying to catch them. Unfortunately I won’t even be able to replace it
I’m looking for tips on capturing them more efficiently. I won’t be keeping them, they will be going to my local shelter! Some rabbits in my area are pretty brave and let me sit beside them.
So far, I’ve caught 3. What would attract them? I tried apples but some rabbits don’t seem to enjoy it… I try to bring celery and cucumber for water, some sort of lettuce or kale, and some carrots. I also have some oats (not much smell though). Banana is a good one, but I’ve also met a few rabbits who doesn’t like banana.
I’ve tried netting as well, but most are afraid of the net (as expected). I try to bond with them a bit, so that they let me pet them. I usually have a small hamster cage ready, and when they are calm, I scoop them up and put them into the cage. I’ve found most sucess with this, but it does scare me a little because I hate picking them up. Are there any other methods people use that are quite sucessful?
Anyway, any tips, advice, or feedback will be greatly appreciated !
This is the previous rabbit I rescued, he was such a sweetheart
Also, if people can suggest some bait I can use, that’d be great. What is your rabbit’s favourite treat?
