Hello! I have 5 bunnies and have frequented this website for a long time when I have questions. I finally decided to make an account. My bunnies are Stewart (Stew), Beans, Noodles, Sweet Pea,and Pork chop… no I am not going to eat them.
Anyway Pea was spayed yesterday morning and all of yesterday she was completely out of it and wouldn’t move at all. Today she is exponentially better and is eating and pooping pretty normally but I have noticed she isn’t eating her cecotropes. I am assuming that this is temporary because it is hard for her to reach with a sore belly. The vet said that because she’s so little he had a hard time finding the organs so it was a little more invasive than normal. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how long it is OK for her to be without the nutrients they offer. Her poops are smaller and darker than normal but I expect that to change soon since she’s eating today.
        Thank you!

I think you’re probably right, it likely due to her not wan ting to move much. Is she in some pain medication?

You could move them to put in front of her. Some rabbits will come eat them after, but many snub them once they’ve hit the floor. Worth a try. I don’t think you need worry though if she doesn’t eat them for a few days.

Thank you! I asked the vet and she said the same thing but pea wouldn’t eat them when I tried giving them to her. She’s on pain meds. She had her last dose tonight. Hopefully it will just be for a couple days
