I’m not exactly sure what category this topic should be under, so I guess I’ll put it here.
For over 2 years, I had the best rabbit I could ever hope to have. Her name was Frodo, and she was only about 2 and 1/2 years old. I won her at a fair, so I’m unsure of any preexisting health problems. She has never shown any signs of being ill and always seemed to be a really happy and healthy bun. Yesterday, at around 10 AM, she let out a small squeak like noise. A few family members, including me, went to her cage to see what was wrong. The worst thing I could’ve ever imagined was right in front of me. She was spread out and lying on her side- dying. It happened so quickly, and no one knows what could’ve happened to her.
The only thing that I could think of is the living situation we’re in. My family has been living in an RV for the past two months due to losing a house, and we’re just stuck in here while we’re searching for another house. It’s quite cramped in here, and she was having to live in a smaller cage than she was used to. The cage was still big enough for her to stand, bounce around in, and lay down comfortably. She was out of her cage to roam the RV the majority of the time. I’m thinking that the stress of it all could’ve caused something to happen? Not even two months ago, our beloved dog died due to a heart attack caused by the moving RV. Maybe something similar happened to Frodo?
She’s always had an unlimited amount of hay and fresh water. We gave her romaine lettuce and carrots a lot as a snack. We never gave her anything toxic.
Luckily, the owners at the campground we’re currently residing at let us hold a proper burial for Frodo. Anything that could possibly help me figure out what happened to her is welcomed and much appreciated.
