Okay, so over the course of the week I have been building a new cage for Remy (with the much appreciated help of my dad). This project took a total of about $120 (which is about the same if not cheaper than store bought cages, is actually a good size for them, and is so much fun and worth it to make.) I’m gonna be going into the process, but I’m gonna have pictures at the bottom
To start, I went to the hardwood store and bought two pieces of 2×4 pine plywood, 2 pieces of pine trim, a piece of pine for the ramp, a piece of long poplar wood for the grips on the ramp, and 16 vinyl stick-on tiles. This project took 36 storage grids, and about 150 8″ zip ties. This cage is 2 grids wide, 4 long, and 3 high.
I started by putting the trim on the wood with screws, then sticking down all the tiles on the bottom layer. When that was done, I assembled the actual grid structure. I put the ramp together after words. I cut a hole in the second layer wood where the ramp would go. After tiling the second layer, I used a door hinge to attach the ramp to it.
Pictures aren’t working for me so let’s try again??
