hay was running low and I had to leave for the long weekend, and my dad was taking care of him for that time. once the hay ran out he didn’t go  out to buy more until a few days later. so, basically, he’s been eating pellets for a couple days straight and now he won’t eat his hay. what do I do? do I just put him back on his regular diet or… ?

Maybe you should try encouraging him by putting treats or whatever he likes in it. It may encourage him to eat the hay too. Hope this helps!

I also heard that Oxbow hay stacks are good too. They have dried carrots and camomile and stuff.

You may need to cut back a little on the pellets to make sure that he eats his hay. Or try some different varieties or brands of hay.

I would cut back on pellets. Maybe buy some other flavors of hay to encourage him to get back in the habit?

That happened to my bun too!  It may be he was just out of his normal routine.  I gave him limited amount of pellets, and fruit flavored hay (Kaytee Brand), and then eased him back into his Oxbow (plain/organic) hay.  It seemed to work for me, but hope your bun’s doing well!

                  All the best,

                  Kaitlyn

I would try a different kind of hay and cut back on the pellets until he starts eating it again.

Is he back to eating his hay now?
