First time poster here, Please be gentle with me haha!

Does anyone think the highgrove hutch with the run attached would be okay for two small bunnies?

Will also be getting the cage and pen cover to protect my little ones!

        Thank you!

The construction on the hutch and run look solid to me. The run is a nice space too.

Will this be their home or a supervised run? If this is their home, could they burrow out of that open grass floor? That would be my main concern.

            Thank you!

Half grass and half pavement so that they can’t burrow out of it, it’s more like a large patch for them to much on

Also they’re only 10 weeks should I be worried about the size? They are a bonded pair but will also have an indoor run for bad weather and such?

So they’ll be indoor/outdoor basically depending on weather.

I have only had single bunnies. I’ve never had a bonded pair. But, I’ll bump this for you.

You might add dimensions for the hutch and run in your post. I found the hutch via a search on the name, but I don’t know which of the runs you chose.

Also, if you check the second sticky topic on the forum “outdoor housing questions” there are sites that are more familiar with outdoor housing. Most of us– though not all– have indoor bunnies. But still, hopefully someone here can better answer your question

Hi Newbunny Welcome to the BB forum. Do you have any pics of your babies to post? We’re all crazy about Lagomorphs here (bunnies).

The hutch looks cute. Have you seen those chicken/ rabbit coops with wheelbarrow-type handles and wheels? I would look for something that’s easy to relocate from grass to concrete because you don’t want your rabbit escaping like Odette mentioned. Rabbits are efficient and talented diggers!

If you’re asking if the hutch is big enough for two bunnies to live and exercise in, I’ve found that no cage or pen is sufficient for rabbits to spend all their time in. If you could give your rabbits an hour or 2 or 3 to exercise daily in a rabbit-proof space (inside is good, outside, you need to be a little more careful), that would be ideal. Rabbits get awfully bored and destructive when they don’t get their “wiggles” out, as we say in childcare. Also, you want to be careful that there are no cats or predators in your area that will scare, injure, or kill your rabbits (sorry to be so direct – I don’t want to frighten you or anything).

Do you have a plan to spay/ neuter them when their hormones kick in? For this reason, I would buy an extra pen to (temporarily) keep your bunnies separate as a backup. They can fight and this can make keeping them together permanently very difficult, especially if they injure each other in a fight. They’re young now and probably love each other to pieces, but that can all change in an instant. Just read up lots (if you haven’t already), cos we have a lot of info on the forum here. And have a backup plan.

The space with the run attached seems ok, will they always have access to it? If not the hutch is too small for my taste, not very deep and especially in height. The internal height is only 37.5cm, which doesn’t provide much room for standing up tall.

At 10 weeks old, they will not be properly bonded. Young rabbits commonly get along, but since they haven’t reached puberty yet, they don’t have hormones getting in the way. So you need to be prepared to separate them from 12 weeks of age firstly so they don’t breed, and secondly to prevent fighting until you can get them desexed.

You could also look into chicken coops/runs, often they’re larger, well suited to rabbits and sometimes cheaper as well. You’ll likely get something with a bit more height and very comparable in size if not bigger.
