One of our current residents – Kale – has been having a few issues as of late.
The first, is callouses on the bottom of one foot. Just on one. He has solid flooring, so I can’t be blaming wires, but I don’t know what else it could be. There’s no sores, and he doesn’t seem bothered by it at all, but I’m concerned. Should I point this out to a vet? Or is this something to handle at home, instead?
The second started more recently. A few months ago, Kale had diarrhea after having kale, romaine, and spinach for his daily vegetables. Ever since then, he hasn’t been able to tolerate vegetables at all. The only thing he could have without having diarrhea was a carrot once a week. But now, he can’t even tolerate this – it gave him diarrhea. Otherwise, his stools are very healthy. I know some rabbits don’t tolerate vegetables, so I wasn’t very worried about this at first, but if he can’t even tolerate a single baby carrot…is this something to be worried about?
Lastly, and most recent, starting only a few days ago, is a urination thing. His urine is now all over his stomach and the bottom of his tail. We’ve moved him so he’s housed near a doe, but not directly with her, as he is not neutered. Could this be him spraying due to puberty and hormones, or is it something else entirely? This one has been the most concerning thing of all to me, and I think a vet visit is in order, but I thought I’d ask here before scheduling an appointment.
