Sometime ago I had problems with someone and they had to leave the house, this person has no internet or PC where he is now, so we are safe, the police said to keep this persons things until someone can collect them and not get rid of anything, but this person has a sofa and it is moldy, it is a health risk, I want to throw it out, I’m going to show my doctor and Olly’s vet these pictures and ask them to sign the letter that the pictures will be on, to say yes and it needs to be disposed of, what do you people think? I would show you the back, but it even made me ill, I used to be a nurse and seen many things, the white that looks like dust is mold.
Olly does have allergies, if you think it should be disposed of, can you just type ‘yes’? When it comes to putting the letter together if I can just put at the bottom for example Number of people from a rabbit forum, and put 7 or 4 or what ever but not mention the site or your names is that OK?

YES. I think that is a health risk to you and your bunny
Yes.
You are welcome to use my vote. But, please make sure the police agree too since they were the ones who asked you to keep it. I’m glad you and Olly are safe.
Yes it’s unhealthy. Laws vary by state though. In some places, it doesn’t matter if something really should be thrown out. If they were paying rent, you may not be allowed to get rid of it.
Oh wait, you’re not in the US. I have no clue what your laws are.
I’m in the UK and they paid no rent, or gave money towards food or gas and electricity.

Rotfl….LBJ. I imagined the ‘penny dropping’…
Lol, I do get asked by people if I’m American, they say I look American, how can someone LOOK American?
Surely there is a time limit on these sorts of things…. And I presume you don’t want Mr X to know where you are…. So can you not contact him through the police or a solicitor and give him a deadline to collect stuff from neutral territory…. Or else it gets thrown out…..??
You can’t hang on to it indefinitely…. ![]()

I get told that I don’t look American
Which doesn’t make sense to me at all since the US has people from everywhere.
This might help even though this is not technically a lodger situation:
Protocol for possessions left behind
Given him a deadline before and the police have come back to me saying that sending a text to him saying he has 4 weeks is harassment, its not.
The text said. Hello can one of your friends come and get your things, the other room is full of your stuff and I want to use my other room, I am disabled as you know, it is getting cold and the room I’m in has no heating, also my boiler is switched off because your things are in front of the cupboard where the boiler is and have no hot water to wash the pots and have to boil the kettle which is very unsafe, then I get a message back saying Yes if I pay for a van, then about a day or so later police come to my door saying I have been harassing him, most of what he has is cardboard boxes full of broken boxes and plastic bags and this sofa and he did make up a list saying he wanted the dish washer a stereo system, 2 electric guitars and stuff that has never been in my place, I have sent a letter over to his place with his friend but the police say I have to keep his stuff and not dispose of it, I know this is not a police matter, but they come and see me.
Solicitors are not cheap.

Thank you, I’ll go read it![]()
Oh and he was a lodger not a move in partner or anything like that, said he was only going to stay a few days and when I came back from the shops a big van was outside and he was taking boxes into my flat Apartment) then packed his job in and did nothing but say bad things and even upset Little Olly.
I will call my fiend tomorrow and see what he says, he knows about this person and his gang and knows the law.
I’m in the U.S. so I’m not sure how things work in your area, but I would still assume that there are rules and laws everywhere for this sort of thing, your best bet is to talk to the police, not this person, don’t associate with them in any way, it may make things worse, even see if the police themselves can hold onto their things for you, that way it’s no longer your problem, definitely get a note of some kind from a professional stating that the couch may be a health issue because that may help you to get rid of their things more quickly, and it sounds to me that if the police are involved in anyway, then it is in fact a police matter, be a squeaky wheel, but in a polite manner, sometimes that’s the only way to get things done! Good luck!!
Yes.. It needs to go. Do you have an outside area you can move it to and cover with a tarp ? Somewhere he can access it later without entering your home.
Oh, also invoice him for storage. By rights he should still be paying rent whilst his possessions occupy the room. Also check for probono legal assistance. Most countries have some form of funded or subsidised legal aid.
Citizens Advice Bureau..!!!!!,!,. Good one Roberta !!!! And YES storage costs!!!! Genius !!!!!

Law schools often have a phone line where you can ask law students about legal things for free.
