Hello all! So my lovely bun bun bucky is a she and she has been spayed about a month ago. I give her full freedom of the house (bunny proofed) She use to mark before we got her spayed but she is still doing it a month later after spaying. She is 6 months of age and is a joy other wise. She likes to pee mosly little bits by our fire place etc. She also likes to leave dropping near the spots as well. I have used just about everything I can think of to clease the areas but it seems shes stubborn and gos right back a day or 2 later and dose it in the exact same place. Now I read that it could be due to to much freedom to quickly? So I was wondering if I should confine her to a small section of the house until she gets it? I just feel bad because shes so use to the space already. She is a bit of a diva and gets spiteful too. She got mad once and peed on my bed ha ha. I really need advice. Thank you!!

Some rabbits still act territorial after getting fixed, and young bunnies like your Bucky are just territorial at this “teenager stage”and may calm down after a while, and some are territorial as their personality.

For girls it often takes longer than a month before their hormones die down completely. It’s true though that spayed/neutered bunnies can be territorial to an extent. Plus she is still a teenager as Stormybun says, even if she’s spayed

Oh ok. Thank you! Do you think if I restrict access to the rest of the house tell she gets more use to being potty trained is a good idea?

If she’s not litter trained and needs to know what a litter tray is for, then limiting her area can work….. If she knows very well what a litter tray is and she’s ‘simply’ marking…. then limiting her space will as you say just make her a little bit crazy… . But you could always try.

Well saddly my beautiful girl is still peeing outside her box. She uses her litter most times but she is still leaving pills everywhere and is peeing on the corner of my cats litter box. Do rabbits tend to do this lots?? I am trying to figure out what to do because its wrecking my floors

Oh dear. But Its only a week since your post. Give it more time.
Another thought. Is the tray big enough? I swapped trays the other day for Henry & he started to pee somewhere else. I didnt make the connection for a few days. Tray swapped back. Job done !
Do you recognse a pattern when she does it? Like for ex. Does she pee outside when she’s already made her litter wet?

She has a walk in litter that is quite large and she uses it also. She gose there and in the corner by her litterbox which I have blocked off now. I have been transitioning her litter box to the back of our one level home. Shes use to going there but still has her corners where she likes to leave pills all over. As well as all over the floor around her litter box which is in the same room as our cats litter boxes. I just want to know if it is just a marking thing?
