Any Bunny in the path of the storm who are bugging out, might want to check in here and let your online buds know you’re ok.
We’re not in the path of a direct hit, but after going through 6-7 other hurricanes, I’m not taking chances. Clover and I, along with a bunch of Clovers friends are unassing this AO and headed for a more secure shelter with family. (My ex mother in laws house. I might be safer in the storm.)
Best of luck to everyone facing this storm, and I’ll check back in when it’s all over. Hope you do too. Stay safe everyone.
Stay safe, Bladesmith. I forgot you were in Florida.
I’m glad you are not in the direct path, but a storm this big will often produce tornadoes in a wide swath. Always better safe.
Please do check in and let us know you, Clover, and the rest of your family are fine.
Great thread! Please everyone who is in danger of being hit keep us posted here. Fingers crossed it’ll be over soon!!!
May the Force be with everybunny and hooman touched by this storm. (((SAFETY)))
I have BB saved on my cell, and I’ll attempt to make contact when the storm hits and after it passes. My ex, Junebug, has packed up Clover and all the show buns for a trip to the safe house. If nothing else, a house full of bunnies will be entertaining. Everyone will get turns out of their emergency transport cages, to sniff and play and binky.
And it’ll keep the kids minds off the storm.
Details to follow. Take care all.

I’ve survived too much not to find the humor in most situations. And I do kid. I still love my ex wife, and adore her family. And it’s kind of them to take me in.
Moving out now. Later gang!
Looks like we’ll ride it out at home. Things aren’t supposed to start getting bad until Friday evening. I’ll try to make a cat food run before then. I’ll keep you updated until we lose power (doesn’t seem to be a question of “if” but “when”).
Stay safe everyone!
Stay safe, Hazel.
Stay safe guys!

I agree. I was wondering if we could do something like this. Like a Hurricane Check in. So thank you for creating this post Bladesmith.
I hope all will be well and everyones preparations will keep them safe.
Welcome, all. Binkied on home this morning at daylight. Made it through the night safely, and home without incident. No damage, no loss of power. We dodged a HUGE bullet with this storm shifting eastward as it did.
Clover is pissed at having to stay in a smaller emergency transport cage, but she’ll forgive me, I’m sure.
Thanks for the concern gang. Raddit people am the bestest.
Very pleased to hear it!
I hope our other members are just as fortunate!
So glad you’re safe, Bladesmith ![]()
Glad you are safe and home, Bladesmith.
Thoughts are with RabbitPam, Hazel, Megabunny. MrBun&Daisy. Stickerbunny may be affected too? I think she may be on other side of the peninsula though. Im not sure. Im thinking of Binkles too, if she still lives in the area.
Hoping every bun n bun parent stay safe x Glad your safely through, Bladesmith
Hi, Everyone! Spike and I are safe and past the storm, or should I say it passed us late last night.
We were on the out edges of two tropical storm bands that surround the eye, which was out in the ocean. It was only about 40 miles off shore, but we are sufficiently inland that this home is very safe, and hurricane proofed to a large extent, so we were OK. It hit the north of our county harder, but we did not lose power. Separate from the storm was that our air condition chose last night to break, after a leak in the morning, so we had the ceiling fans going.
Spike was a trooper, and stayed in his xpen near me. He is Florida born, so he is a tropical bunny. Just wanted a midnight snack of pellets, which he got!
Glad you and Spike are safe, RabbitPam!
Glad everyone so far is safe! Luckily for us the path continues to show matthew veering off into the water before reaching us which will leave us with only some rain. We’ve had time to dry out from our last flood so the rain shouldn’t be too big of a deal. Makes me thankful and wanting to send more safe bunny vibes to everyone still in its path! My buns don’t seem to mind storms but they have yet to be scooped up in the middle of the night by mom and dad so I can’t say how they would do there
)))))safe buns and hoomans(((((
Thanks, Odette! MrBun&Daisy, you stay safe, OK? Sending clear skies and easterly winds blowing out to sea.
Does anyone know if Bunnytowne is still in Florida? She has Cotton. I hope she’s fine wherever she is these days.
Glad to hear you guys got through it okay. ![]()
I can’t believe we still have power! It’s been raining all day, now the wind is starting to pick up. Things will get worse during the night, hopefully it won’t flood too badly. A poor lizard snuck into the house to seek refuge, when I found it it was dangling out of Mosby’s mouth.
I figured it was dead, but after I made him drop it outside it turned out to be alive. Maybe he’ll be okay.
Everyone who’s still in the storm’s path, stay safe!
I saw on the news, the sattelite image of Hurricane Matthew looks like a skull
I have a house in florida, I hope my neighbours are safe
Glad to hear it’s all good down south, Pam and Spike!
Good to be hearing from our members affected. So glad you’re all okay.

Pam, I think I’ve seen her post of BB fb page as Cotton’s House or a name like that. This could be a way to check in with her.
MrBun&Daisy, are you ok there in the peninsula?
All safe and sound here! The rain started in the afternoon yesterday and didn’t stop until late this morning but that’s about all we got. Some gusts here and there of wind. I’ve heard of many people in the area having trees down and completely uprooted from the ground being so saturated but luckily only minor damages so far. The buns didn’t like the sound of limbs falling on the house do they spent a good bit of time in their burrow box. Luckily about 2 weeks ago we had someone come take the major dead limbs out of the trees so no real damage was done.
The forecast seems to officially show it moving off the coast, hopefully it won’t double back down to florida!
Good to hear!
I am glad you are all ok! That limb trim was good timing, for certain.
MrBun&Daisy, I’m glad everything went okay!
After two days, we finally got power back last night!
We didn’t get flooded much at all, we’ve had regular thunder storms that caused more flooding than this. Other than one big tree that came down and ripped off the power cable a couple of houses down, we didn’t have much damage in our immediate vicinity. At first we figured the storm just wasn’t as bad as expected, but after driving around the neighborhood we realized that we just got very lucky. Tons of giant trees were down all over, crushing cars and boats, we saw one house that got completely demolished by a tree. For us, the worst came after the storm. No power for two days was annoying, we had to throw out a good bit of food, but considering the damage we saw they fixed it faster than expected. Yesterday I went out to get some water and cat food, BIG mistake. There is one road with Tractor Supply at the end, and two fast food restaurants to the sides. Tons of people were trying to get food there, and even more people were on their way to TS to get generators. It took me an hour just to get into their parking lot. Once I got there, I was thinking “Finally, this is it!!” Thirty seconds later I rounded a corner and was faced with parked cars blocking my way, people were just parking randomly where ever there was room. So then I was literally stuck. After a while a nice lady came over and helped me get out (not totally selflessly, as I was blocking her truck
, but I was still very grateful). So then I finally made my way inside, and what do you know, they didn’t have the cat food. So then I left, and made my way to Walmart. One entrance was closed, the other had a line of people wrapping all along the building, I turned around and left. Managed to grab some water at a different store, and was on my way back home. After a while, traffic slowed to a crawl, there was a police check point. After what seemed like forever, I got to the front, and they told me I wasn’t allowed back in until several hours later. They were trying to keep the evacuees out. I tried to tell him that we didn’t evacuate, I just went out to get some water, but he wasn’t hearing it. Sure would have been nice if someone had put up a sign, saying “If you decide to leave this area, you won’t be allowed back in until…”. Nope, they had happily waved me through on my way out.
Made my way to a second check point, the officer there was very nice and let me through after I explained my situation. So, after 4 flipping hours, I finally got back home. Rant over. ![]()
Still, we got very lucky, lots of people have/had it much worse.
Ugh Hazel! 4 hours just for water!
Sounds as the worst of it came after you last posted. So good to hear your power (and normalacy?) has been restored.
Hazel, so glad you were ok!
I’m glad you are all safe, Hazel. The things we do for cat food (and would do again!).
We had the checkpoints last flood and because it was a flash flood, people didn’t have time to get provisions. I understand why they do checkpoints, but they’re really scary when you’re out of water and food.
