        Hi everyone

We have a 5 month old (approx) buck who we’re getting neutered in the coming weeks. Lately we’ve noticed he’s become a bit more reclusive and isnt as social, so we’re thinking about getting him a friend to keep him company during the day. We did some research and saw that you’re supposed to keep new pairs in separate cages before starting to bond them. We’re a bit short on room as it is, so my question is:  if we spray down our current bunny’s crate and rearrange everything inside, would it be possible to put a partition down the middle and have the two buns split the crate until they’re both neutered and bonded? Or would it be better to just buy a separate cage and make do?

        Thanks!

No. You would need two different cages/pens for over a month (atleast 2+). You risk them fighting, which can cause harm to a rabbit, or even death if you are not there to stop it. Rabbits can also fight through the bars (one of my rabbits recently bite a chunk of skin out of one of my other rabbits) so that is why you cant just split the pen down the middle either, unless you keep it blocked off so they cannot see one another or reach one another
