Daisy and Ruby, my two precious girls, seem to be very picky and particular about their diets. They’ve been eating Oxbow hay and premium pellets (that are apparently made locally in my state), their poops are good and everything, but they will not touch vegetables or fruit!
They are both around 8-9 months old. We (boyfriend and I) tried out romaine lettuce first, ripping it up, even leaving a whole leaf in front of them, but they both snubbed the heck out of it. Next we tried celery. I cut it up into tiny, crescent-shaped pieces and placed it into tiny bowls for each of them (no more than 1/4 cup or so as the bunnies are destructive and will knock over any and all food bowls) but no dice. Ruby, my mini rex, did at least nibble on it, but she quickly lost interest.
And tonight, just about an hour ago, we tried strawberries, figuring maybe they’re just mad at us for giving them fiber and good stuff rather than sugary treats, right? Haha. They didn’t even smell it though, and after we diced it up and made it look all pretty and easy to eat.
Basically, these bunnies are driving me insane lately, snubbing everything we try, even toys! Am I doing something wrong? Should I just mix everything together and make a sort of salad? Is there a vegetable/fruit that’s irresistible to all rabbits that I don’t know about? Any help’s appreciated!
