Life has been pretty busy around here. Started school at a bigger university which didn’t work out because I was driving 300+ miles per day to and from school. So had to drop this semester until I can move out to where the school is. Had some healthy junk that went on. And just a mess of other things.
But I wanted to return to BinkyBunny because it is my favorite forum.
Both my buns Moonshine and Gypsy and doing amazingly well. Well, I guess as amazing as can be. Moonshine will be going into surgery next week to remove a benign tumor from his stomach. It wouldn’t have been removed but it is causing him some discomfort. He goes
After his surgery and healing, I will be attempting to bond the two. Moonshine I’m not too worried about since he is crazy laid back. But Gypsy is another thing. She is very much <g class="gr_ gr_1413 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Grammar only-del replaceWithoutSep" id="1413" data-gr-id="1413">a my</g> way or no way type of bun. Bonding them is going to be ... Interesting to say the least. </p>
I no longer house them in the Bunny Adobe. They are now in pens side by side.
I also got a new little pet dude. He is an Eastern(?) Hermann’s tortoise named R2D2 (Artoo for short). No pictures of the bunnies right now until I get them situated.

HI Sonn! Good to see you ! 300 miles each day – that’s crazy !!
Vibes for (((( Moonshine )))) ![]()
Hi Sonn! Happy to see you! I’m sorry about Moonshine, lots and lots of vibes for the beautiful boy (((((Moonshine)))))
And bonding-vibes too of course!!!!
Arto is just too cute!!!
It was taking a heavy toll on me driving that far. So I had to give it up for now.
Bonding vibes are definitely going to be needed. Ha.
I think Moonshine will do well through the surgery. The vet said due to the position it shouldn’t take long and he should heal quickly.
Artoo is so adorable I almost can’t stand it. Tiny animals are my weakness. ?
Hello there, not sure I know you but welcome back
Artoo is very cute, will he always stay that small or thereabouts?
No I don’t think we are familiar with one another Azerane. I am Sonn, I was a regular on the forum for a long time but life got in the way and I had to take a long break. I have two rabbits Gypsy a dutch bunny and Moonshine an English Lop. I’ve had several other rescue bunnies that have unfortunately crossed the rainbow bridge.
Artoo is an Eastern Hermann’s tortoise (I think, he could be Western). He is just a baby about a month old. As an adult assuming he is male he will get 4-5″. Right now he is just barely larger than a US quarter.
The bunny in my avi is my first bunny Pacey (my heart bunny) who passed away a few years ago. Gypsy is in my signature this is a picture of Moonshine. I don’t have any updated pictures of them currently.

The first thing i thought about when i saw the title:
*its been a looong day, without you my friend, and ill tell you all about it when i see you again*
Moonshine is so cute! Is he an english lop?
Ha I had the same song in my head when I posted the title.
Yes Moonshine is an albino English Lop. He turned a year old in April.
He is very beautiful! I LOVE english lops! Unfortunately, I did not get an option, so I got my little sassy Ben!
I am newish, so we haven’t met. I wish your handsome Moonshine a successful and easy surgery and recovery.
Artoo has a beautiful shading on his home/shell. Hello to lovely Gypsy too.
I don’t contribute much to the conversation, but read a lot of the forums. Absolutely love sweet little Artoo (awesome name by the way). Here’s our Indy- he turned 3 this past April. He’s also a Hermann’s tortoise that we got from a breeder near Las Vegas. Enjoy the wee little stage, you’ll be amazed how quickly he grows when you look back on images.

Hi Sonn! Welcome back! I would love to pictures of Gypsy. I’m glad to see both buns are doing well and Moonshine is as photogenic as ever. What a sweetie! I do wish him well with his surgery. I’m glad the vet is very confident.
OMG, I love tortoises so freaking much! What a cutie!!! <3
I was just about to ask the most idiotic question about tortoises when I realized it was idiotic
They are adorable creatures. I follow a tiny one on insta, Sheldon the tort, but he’s the type that stays really small.
Oh come on bam – share !!!!!

Vienna, this might be one of the stupidest questions ever posed: Do tortoises slough their shell when they grow, like crabs do?
Nice to meet you
Life has a habit of doing that sometimes. Moonshine is just gorgeous! My, what big ears you have!
E. lops are just stunning. I’ve always wondered, do they step/trip on their ears at all? I would be concerned there would be likelihood of injury.
Bam – this is probably your answer – this tortoise/turtle lives on and is OK and is now used apparently with children and adults to educate them about pollution and litter.
I ALWAYS cut plastic rings like the below drinks can packs or water bottle tops (the ring bit that is left on the bottleneck when you unscrew the bottle top) before putting them in the bin. I saw a program with a pigeon (ring around neck, unable to eat) on an industrial landfill site when I was younger and it’s remained with me.
Guess this little chap was lucky ![]()

Indy is adorable!
I’m going to try to get pictures of both buns soon after Moonshine heals up.
No tortoises don’t she’d their whole she’ll when growing. But the do she’d their scutes when new ones grow underneath. ?
Moonshine used to trip on his ears constantly when he was a baby. Now he only does it when running really fast. But he loves standing on his ears. I don’t understand it but it’s what he does.
My neighbor has a rescue Red Eat Slider who was tangled in those plastic rings.
She has a pretty severe ‘waistline’ as well. Luckily it hasn’t had any effect on her health.

Yep, they shed the outer layers and new layers grow in underneath as the turtle or tortoise grows. When you think about it, the concept is similar to a snake. Except a snake sheds the outer layer all in one go. I would find paper thin scute sheds every once in awhile when I worked at my old job, but they usually just flaked off in tiny pieces.
Vienna – There is a turtle like that at a nature center in Missouri. Her name is Peanut. So sad, but she is there as an educational tool. This is what happens when people litter. I think I might have that exact same picture in a presentation I use for elementary kids.
Hey, Sonn!!!!! Always nice to see you pop in! Sorry you are having trouble with your university situation.
Squee @ Artoo!!! Cute!!!!
Big (((Vibes))) for Moonshine!!!
Nice to meet you, Sonn. That commute did sound killer.
Artoo is seven kinds of cute.
And those ears on Moonshine! Oh my! lol
Lots of (((smooth sailing))) for him and his tummy.
LBJ, thank you!! I had no idea! I thought if they sloughed off their shells there’d be tortoise shells all over the place and there wouldn’t be a ban on trading with tortoise shells (there is such a ban in the EU). But I never would’ve figured they shed the outer layers!
Sonn, I’m very sorry for hi-jacking your thread. I blame Artoo! (No, I don’t, of course.)

With those ears, he’d win any windsurfing competition! LOL. Once they billow out with wind, there’ll be no stopping him !! ![]()
Hi Sonn ! *waves*
Coming to this a bit late but want to offer some {{{vibes}}} for Moonshine also. Hope it goes as well as you’re expecting.
Artoo is too cute! I love the name also. It even looks cute.
Hi Sonn!! It’s a bit delayed, but happy to see you pop on! Artoo (my phone wants to correct artoo to ratio lol) is absolutely adorable! Best of luck bonding Gypsy and Moonshine. I know she’s a little high strung. ![]()
Hi!!!!!
Artoo is giving me a bit of trouble. He has worms and I can’t get his tiny mouth to open to treat him and he refuses to eat! *hmph*
The vet says his name almost sounds like a cut sneeze.
Moonshine goes in at 8am tomorrow morning. I am a bit nervous but I trust the vet.
Gypsy high strung? NAAAAAHHHH….. I compare Gypsy to a tightrope. It’s taut and stable until it snaps. Lol.
Hmm I wonder if I put Moonshine in front of a fan if he could pass as a hair model with his ears flapping in the wind???
Bruno your signature pic is giving me life.
Moonshine’s surgery went well. He was kept overnight and I picked him up yesterday evening.
He was super groggy and very very grumpy. He is still a bit thumpy at me and HATES his pain medication. And hiding anything in food with Moonshine is a 50/50 chance. Plus I don’t think he appreciates how sleepy it makes him.
Great to know Moonshines surgery went well! Hopefully he will take his medecation ![]()
Aww, poor baby. I’m glad things went well.
Hmm, treating turtles for worms. I think we used a pencil as something to bite.
