  Please help! I’m trying to do my best here, but I’m running out of ideas.
  
  I rescued a rabbit in late May who is suspected to be an easter dump or worse a breeder dump. She was emaciated and overheating so I took her in, checked the local shelters and rescues to see if she was still wanted, and got nothing. So I kept her, got her checked up, etc… and she got a clean bill of health, minus needing some weight gain. No one realized she was pregnant. I originally had homes for all three kits within days of them being born, but one of the people (who of COURSE was taking two of the bunnies) had an issue with housing and now can’t take the two. I don’t want to burden a rescue with two more bunnies, but I also cannot keep them. I really do want to find good homes for them. I’ve posted in places I think might get some interest – including my job. I’ve asked at the vet’s. I’ve even talked to some rescues at Pet Smart and some employees there who seem to know what they’re doing.
  
  I’ve tried contacting local rescues, but because of a 300+ rabbit hoard that JUST got found a couple weeks ago, they’re all super busy and super full, so getting help from them has been … well, like pulling teeth. And I can’t blame them. But in the meantime, I feel like I’m losing this battle.
  
  Any ideas on how to do this without surrendering my bunnies? I want to make sure they go somewhere GOOD. (and yes, for those who saw the post under the diet section, these are the babies of the rabbit who just got spayed)

  You might contact your local breeders. When I decided to adopt, I didn’t know there were rabbit rescues. I called the breeders.
  
  They might have people who have likewise called looking for pets. They probably also know the local fosters that might not be official rescues.
  
  I would be cautious because this is when people buy 4h bunnies. Which, I am sure there are people here who have done 4H, but I mean cautious that the intent is pet quality and not the types of stuff we don’t talk about here.
  
  I don’t know if you have a Petfinder and I don’t know if they have bunnies, but its worth trying. They foster until the pet gets a forever home from what I understand. I know our local Petfinder foster parents are given vet vouchers and discounts, so their animals are well take care of.
  
  Also, if your vet has a bulletin board, you could make mini fliers and ask to put them up. You’d still have to screen, but people who are at a vet hopefully have the right intention for pets.
  
  Other than that, all I know to do is keep at social media. Maybe send some private messages to friends you trust and ask if they’ll do a post or share your post to extend the base.
  
  I know these aren’t the most clear cut options, but I wish you success in finding happy, good homes for your babies. I hope your sweet girl is feeling better today too.

  One more thing– this weekend is national adoption weekend at PetSmart. You might go speak to the manager again and ask if you can bring a xpen to a quiet place in the store. You’d still want to screen as well as possible, but if they’ll let you, its an option.
  
  Your bunnies are at the perfect age for a pet store adoption, but its just so terribly unpredictable and difficult to screen. But, I’m throwing it out there.

  I’ll check into pet smart. The one by me does adoption weekends every weekend, but for a “National” one, they’d be out there. They do it every sunday, so I could happily bring them – but I think you have to be affiliated with a rescue. I’ll talk to the people at Pet Smart. And if anyone here knows anyone in NJ…? *raises a hand* Willing to drive these cuties anywhere if it means adoption.
  
  But yeah. I’ll push the PetSmart route. They seem to be doing GOOD by their animals and their employees are great. I’ll look into 4H too.

  I’m sorry, Archer, I wasn’t very clear in my response. I wasn’t suggesting to adopt out as a 4H rabbit. I’m opposed to 4H live animal shows even in pet divisions. I meant to be cautious because people are buying rabbits for 4H right now.
  
  (I apologize if that offends any 4Hrs. I’m sure you take exceptional care of your bunnies. Just a personal opinion on my part).
  
  I wonder if you could get your local rabbit rescue to vouch for you so you could go the PetSmart route.

  Gotcha on the 4H thing, and sorry for the delay in posting. There was a downturn in my father’s behavior (alzheimers and vascular dementia) and we had to deal with that, so I’ve been super busy.
  
  I just contacted Hug A Bunny rabbit rescue and hopefully they’ll get back to me. I have NOT had much luck with the rescues responding…
  
  In addition, I’ve now been given an ultimatum – bunnies out by Thanksgiving or I find a new home for me AND the buns. *sigh* this is not looking good, and I’m seriously stressed about it all.

  I am sorry to hear your dad has had a rough time, Archer.
  
  You have enough to worry about without an ultimatum. Whoever issued that is not being terribly fair.
  
  That said, I hope the rescues come through quickly. With your father’s health, this is a special consideration. I wish someone would stop and take the time to listen and help you find a home. Its so little out of one person’s day to help someone else. Keep at them. Someone will know what to do.
