Hi-
So I’m currently staying at my grandparent’s, and of course I brought my rabbit with me. At home honey has my entire living room to run around in, which she loves, she’s always exploring. Unfortunately this isnt possible at my grandparents so she’s in a very large run. I would ask if she was aloud time out to roam freely, but non of the rooms are safe and, I already feel I’ve cause enough inconvenience as it is.
My grandparents live on a huge apple farm. It’s very shut off from the world, very quiet and I know that there are no dangers of dogs or birds of prey in the area. I was thinking to satisfy her need to explore that I could take her out side in the orchards. Either in a very large pen (not quite sure if this will allow her to really ‘explore’ though) or on a harness (please note: I’ve researched harness a lot, she has a stretchyfabric vest harness, with a very long lead (about 12m) so that if she gets spooked and needs to run away I have plenty of time to react). The only thing I’m conserned about are that there are lots of wild bunnies that live in orchards. They’re not usually about during the day (to scared of all the humans) but are very active at night & late evening. She won’t have direct contact with any of the rabbits but will be in the same area as them. None of the rabbits appear to have mixy or look in any way ill. Honey is up to date with all her vaccines. The only thing I was concerned about was ticks.
Is there anything she can catch from being in the same area as the rabbits but no direct contact?
