Haha, Vienna! Thank youuu. He really does match that blanket. And he rarely lays down like that unless his back is against something so I’m so glad I caught it. His ears slowwwwly drooped to the carpet, eventually. His markings have changed quite a bit this summer. Bottom of the ears are fading to white, nose marking shrinking, gray paw booties now look more like little socks. They’ll darken up and spread again come winter but I love watching them change each season.

Olaf is gorgeous (or handsome, rather). I love his ears.

Q8Bunny and ReeseBun, those are fantastic. They’re both watercolors, right? I love to use watercolor pencils, but I’m not very good at it.

WILLOW!!!! It’s going to be fun trying to make wreaths out of this. Most of it is going to have to be dried, the bunnies have never had it before so I don’t want to overdo it. I’m going to have to forage for willow some more I think

Vienna- No haven’t done any more bonding since Bindi sent me to the hospital. It’s super frustrating though because they each spend a lot of their out time hanging out or laying down next to the bars of the other’s cage. They sniff noses and are really nice to each other, like they are bonded through the bars. Why didn’t you act like that outside of the cages?????? Argh……frustrating….

LPT can we do another bunny beauty pageant? And how did Bindi send you to the hospital????

Reese Bun: With this delightful gaping wound….I had to go see if it needed stitches.  It was really deep and jagged and they wanted me to have an antibiotic shot. 

Left a nasty scar on my hand. This was meant for Sterling. I know you’re not supposed to get in between fighting bunnies because this can happen but honestly I would much rather take the bite than have my bunny hurt. And healthcare for people is free here.  

And our BB Beauty Pageants! Yes, those were lots of fun! I have a lot going on right now but try to remind me again in a little while. I would love to have another soon. Sterling can host this time.

Hahah figured as much! My dad actually has a phobia of rabbits, partially to do with that scene, partially to do with the horror film Night of the Lepus-it’s so bad it’s funny. But Sampras’ red eyes honestly scare him so much.

Mosby got too big for his carrier, so yesterday we got him a new one. I don’t think we’ll use it much, usually we put a leash on him if he needs to go anywhere, but that only works if there’s two of us. And I thought it might be good for him to have a carrier for his nonuts appointment.  Although so far he hasn’t shown any unsavory behaviors, so we’ll let him keep his bits for a while longer.

The rabbit of Caerbannog – I remember when I used to laugh at it, thinking it was so silly. That was before I owned rabbits and realized it’s actually a documentary.

Hazel– Mosby is still a kitten! I didn’t think he looked like an adult, but I didn’t realize he was that young. Adorable! Your Siamese is elegant– what a beautiful cat.

This is Catfish. He is not purebred, but he has that Siamese voice. Odette will go up to him and lower her head. Catfish will stop whatever he is doing and groom her. Its the sweetest thing. 

And this is Napster with Selkie and Saoirse. He loves Odette and she tolerates him

(In case anyone is concerned, the fish now both have their own 5.5 gallon aquarium. This was their first day home.)

Next year, when I’m settled (wherever) and there’s only me and Zou on the road (sniff ) I WILL be adopting a bunbuddy for Zou (if not sooner), a rescue dog (maybe a pair) and a bonded pair of young adult cats from rescue… their forever home!!

If only if were that “simple” to find a 2 legged lifebuddy… (no I’m not talking about Az’s Dory)…

So many pretty kitties…..I soo miss the meowing and purring in the house. We’re planning on getting another but not until our huge vet bill from Savana’s hospitalization is paid off. Hoping I can get a kitty for Christmas.

Go ahead, Azerane! At least take Mosby. Earlier today he was sitting on the table, I was petting him and he stood up as if to sniff my face. I thought “Aww, that’s so cute…” Next thing I know, he clamped his jaws around my throat. He’s done this twice before, while laying on my chest. Maybe he wants me dead? So yeah, you can have him!

Odette: Catfish is so beautiful, those eyes! And Napster too, they both look so fluffy and cuddly!  How sweet that Catfish grooms Odette. Oscar asks Lily to groom him all the time, but she just ignores him, it’s pretty sad to watch. Then I have to give him some pets so he doesn’t feel totally rejected.

LFB: Sage is getting so big, I can’t believe how fast she’s growing! And Walker is so cute. I thought dogs are supposed to hate vacuum cleaners?  Happy Birthday, Walker!

Oh, Walker!! So cute! To adorable for words! Happy birthday, Walker! My GSD hates the vacuum. Bam is interested in it, follows it around and tries to play with it. That’s why I for a brief while thought he was perhaps going deaf, but he isn’t deaf, he just likes the vacuum.

I once volunteered at an RSPCA rescue centres and on one of the kennels an adult Golden Retriever’s description was ‘Loves to be vacuumed!!

He didn’t stay long…… ! One of the volunteers gave him a forever home…

(Reason for being in a cage = marriage break-up …. I would fight to KEEP the dog rather than fight NOT to keep it… gggrrrrr)

Walker says “thank you” for the birthday wishes. All my previous dogs hated the vacuum…they would bark and carry on or run out of the room….We call the vacuum Walkers girlfriend

@Bam: Sage is developing a thing for the vacuum too…not like Walker but whether it is the big vac or the little hand held she likes to follow it around when they are on and sniffs them non stop when they are off

@GJ: Instead of “Where’s Waldo?” we can play “Where’s Pippi?”

@Vienna: I understand the frustration….I too used to volunteer at a rescue…the reasons people would put down for surrendering their pets…I had to bite my tongue so as not to get thrown in jail!!!!! (I got married…we had a child…..it barks too much….it sheds too much….it got too big….oh…and my favorite…I changed my mind) ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????!!!!! All of these things could have been fixed or avoided….animals I understand….people just piss me off

A while ago I had a friend that broke up with her fiance. They had this sweet, gorgeous, water dog that she “loved”. He’s a flight attendant, so he was ok with taking the dog when he was home. She was supposed to take care of him when he wasn’t. The dog ended up with his parents because the new boyfriend’s dog didn’t get along with him. What about working on it? Ugh. I can’t believe people think that animals could be disposable like that… wasn’t too friendly with her after that, that’s for sure.

I am a mother and a pet slave….so I mean no disrespect to parents or children I don’t want this to be taken the wrong way…..

In my opinion animals/pets are a big responsibility…and this is where the controversial part comes in…I believe that pet/animals are a bigger responsibility then children….now before anyone gets upset let me explain.

With our children, we decide to have them, we love them, we teach them and we are responsible for them….however children over time grow and learn to be self sufficient, learn to care for themselves, in no time at all they are feeding, cleaning, dressing themselves…they will one day get a job and provide for themselves. But at no time is it acceptable to say they are too loud, they are too messy, they got too big, they have attitude problems and so on then chuck them into the nearest cage or hand them over to any body willing to take them off your hands. (although there are some that do this)

Our pets….we decide to get them, we love them, we teach/train them and we are responsible for them…..For the length of their lives….there is no in a couple of years they will be able to do this themselves….they will rely on you for love, nurturing, food, cleaning of them and their space, healthcare and so on…for the length of their lives…..Unfortunately it is ok to decide on a whim that the cat, dog, bunny, bird in the window is adorable take it home and then realize you are in way over your head or the cuteness has worn off and “throw it away” so to speak….things like he got too big, too noisy, shedding, behavioral problems, health issues…these are all a possibility…but if you do you research you can make sure you get a pet that fits your criteria and any problems developed along the way again can be researched and rectified.  

Getting a pet…like having a child is not a decision to make lightly…but so many do….

Ok…I am done ranting on like a lunatic. I apologize to you all for this if it in any way upset you.

No offense taken here. I agree. Animals depend completely on their humans. We should never take that role lightly.

Odette was a lifeline after a really painful year. She has brought so much light into our world. And, every single animal has that ability. I wish they all had that opportunity to be loved and doted on.

I think Odette kind of likes us too Not right now though. Right now, she is really mad that I took her blanket to wash it.

How beautiful Jersey!

Breintje is super cuddly today. We’ve all spent the weekend at my parents-in-law, and we took him with us because he doesn’t really seem to mind travelling. However, he can’t run free in their home. He can only be in the yard under supervision, and he has to be caged for the rest of the time whilst we are there. They have a cage in the garage, and he always gets depressed when he has to spend a weekend there. He really doesn’t like to be alone for a while. This morning he wouldn’t eat, he just sat there curled up tightly, wanting only to be petted. His ears were a bit cold, and he didn’t feel well. I carried him around in my vest for a while, the vest zippered up snugly so he was supported on all sides. A tight little ball sitting warmly pressed to my body, only his head sticking out. He laid his head on my chest, and sat there clicking softly.

Ever since we got home this afternoon he’s been super cuddly, especially this evening. He also started to eat again, he was very hungry. I was sitting on the couch doing some embroidery, and he keeps jumping up to get attention. Just look at him getting his pettings: stretched out, eyes closed and clicking… And to think that there are so many buns who spend nearly all of their lives alone in a cage in the garage… Breaks my heart to think about that 

Zippered up in a vest… What a great way to warm them up! I hope {{{Breintje}}} is back to his normal self soon, Ellie.

Breintje is a lovely bun I hate it that there are lonely buns who sit in a cage all alone all day long. It makes me so sad. In a way I’ve tried to compensate by giving my buns as much attention and company and cuddlle-sessions as I’ve could. It doesn’t help the other buns though.

Bunnies can really reach into a person’s heart.

Chester would like to thank you all for the extra pets. He would also like to inform you that he has taken over the shelf on the coffee table. Next step: world domination!

Yes, the vest is a special item here in the house. It makes you comfortable during scary vet visits and keeps you warm when you’re not feeling well. It’s also great to calm down after a massive fright. He also likes it when I talk to him then, and walk around or bob up and down a bit. I sometimes tie a shawl around my waist so he doesn’t slide out below. It looks a bit like carrying a baby then, and I’ve gotten strange looks from my friends who are new parents. Meh, no diapers and broken nights for me, but I don’t mind a bit of fur or the occasional chewing. We’re a perfectly happy family like this. ^_^

Awww, Chester looks so regal up there. He has a new spot to check on everyone there, how cute!

He does look as if he’s pondering the World Peace and will come out with some interesting and profound information.

So this is where Bindi spends most of his out-time which makes me feel pretty bad about how I gave up bonding them. It was just too much stress on me and I was worried about the stress on Bindi. I hope they are happy just having a neighbour. They get along great like this. I’ll have to move Sterling’s pen soon or build him a condo because I need to move him away from the heater (it’s getting cold here….brrr))) so he will be closer to Bindi full time. 

They’re so cute, LPT! Both of them! And they seem happy this way, too.

Got some new pics of Chom too… He’s bigger now (maybe 4.5 pounds or so?? I haven’t weighed him since he was neutered!) and so friendly. Bit more mischievous though! His birthday’s coming up… November 20th… well, maybe not coming up. But in about three months it will be!

Patton has only been home for less than a day, and we haven’t had any binkies yet. BUT- we’ve had plenty of scampering and even a pounce!

Or do I misunderstand?? I thought a binky was just a jump and twist in the air. Is scampering considered a binky?

I consider any leap in the air to be a binky. Odette does these half binkies sometimes.

Patton looks post binky there to me. Either that or he’s about to attack Since he is so good-natured, I’ll go with post binky.

Chester looks like he’s giving the “you’re dead to me unless you give me treats” look

Patton sounds like he’s settling in super well. Scampering can be a form of binkies, there may not be a flick of the legs but zooming back and forth while quickly changing direction is a form of binky, commonly called bunny 500’s. Traditional binkies do involve a jump, twist and kick of the legs, but there’s not always twisting, or kicking. Sometimes it’s a subtle head flick, or a little fluffy butt shake mid hop.

Azerane, Apollo’s pix reminded me of a pic one of my brother’s friends once sent me. Found it on my phone!

No, her ears aren’t always like that. She has pretty well full control of them, but when she has more important things to do (like eat salad) this is how they sit when she’s not controlling them at all. Most times they sit more like this:

Slow day here today, I exercised yesterday for the first time in heaven knows how long. A friend of mine takes aquafit classes at the rehabilitation centre close to my house. They have a hot therapy pool (32 °C) for people with chronic diseases. It was so good to be in the water, I immediately loosened up. Today I can really feel that I exercised yesterday, I’m stiff from head to toe. Oh well, just means I need to exercise more often ^_^ 

Breintje seems to be picking up the mood, the’s been lazy like this all day.

I had wondered that 

Not a bunny, but I thought some of you may (or may not, who knows) appreciate this photo anyway. Yesterday I was outside with Dory when this collared sparrowhawk flew into the gum tree in our backyard. It was a very noisy couple of hours because the other birds did not stop squawking about it being there. Needless to say, Dory wasn’t terribly happy being outside at that time, but I wasn’t able to bring her in until hubby got home to help. Funny thing though, she LOVES the pokemon tv series, she always chats away if it’s on (I think she likes all the silly sounds) so I played some on my phone for her and sat it on the cage which made her relax a little.

ETA: I forgot to add this photo! I made a play mat for Apollo and Luna today. They seem to like it, mostly they’ve just been eating the hay so far which is amazing given that any time I’ve given them one of the willow rings I’ve made, it’s gone in 60 seconds.

Love the mat Azerane. I really like the idea of securing chew toys somehow. I think it is much more appealing for rabbits. 

Good discovery with the Pokemon sounds.  Maybe you’ll be able to use those to calm down the squawking.

@JG Fortunately Dory’s squawking as soon as I get home seems to have mysteriously gone away. I’m not complaining, it was just every single time, and then all of a sudden, it just stopped. Thank goodness.

Yes, it’s a double tray. The top tray is a sieve tray. She’s sitting on wood pellets, I could use the tray without pellets on the top layer, but I like to have a thin layer there so they’re not just sitting on poops.

Hmmmm, cunning plan !

I haven’t seen that over here… I wonder if it would work if i drilled loads of holes in her current tray and stacked it in another same size…. It would leave one cm between the top one and the bottom… atleast she wouldn’t sit on a damp newspaper (unless the paper shreddings)…

Guess who was in a cuddly mood today? (And still in the last phase of the moult?)

We had one of our favourite desserts today, and Breintje went completely wild from the smell. Traditional Dutch stuff: vanilla vla with rum-soaked raisins. Vla is a thin custard pudding with the consistency and smoothness of a thick yoghurt, it can be served either hot or cold. My boyfriend Bas likes his vla hot, and while he was eating it Breintje was all over him trying to find out where that delicious smell came from. When he finally managed to steal a little lick, he decided that vla wasn’t so interesting after all. We did give him a non-alcoholic raisin as a treat though 

Adorable! Breintje, I’d have begged for a run-soaked raisin too. I just wouldn’t be convincing or cute like that!

Brientje is so darn CUTE!! Carrots just aren’t gonna do it anymore.

I caught Patton doing something new with his legs while hanging out in the bathroom this morning. Never seen a bunny shovel out his hind legs like this before.
