It’s finally September! Is anyone else as excited for Autumn as I am?
How is it September already? I love autumn but I will miss the good weather too, although we often get some summery weather here in Ireland in September. September is going to be a busy month for me I have 2 conferences to go to with my PhD.

)
Oh God, it’s September already?! Thesis has to be done soon *hyperventilates* Oh, September also means all pretty fall colours
That makes me happier! *Looks at pretty colours and ignores thesis for a bit*
Yaaay! Chewie says “Thank you, aunty Vienna.” ![]()
Good luck for your thesis, BubbleJo! You can do this!
There’s no autumn in Indonesia, but we’re seeing a slight increase of rain and humidity. Bad news for our hay
Chito would flat out refuse to eat hay that’s not ‘crispy’ and I understand why but….i don’t want to waste them ;_;
Anyhoo, happy September, everybunny!
What about Bindi and Sterling?
September? Nooooooooooooooo!
5 days until school starts! Yaaay! Today is open house
Wow, school starts late for you ReeseBun.
Sept, 6th is late?
Yes. Public schools here started on Aug 15.
Public school for elementary kids started yesterday, and High School started today. Although it’s not uncommon to start as late as September 3rd. When we lived down south, school generally started the first week of August, and in rare cases mid August. Different states have different school schedules. It’s strange, I know.
Schools don’t get out until mid to end June though (depending on the amount of snow days).
I’m exited for school!! I’m gonna be on this chat a lot because I don’t have anything better to do for the last 5 days of summer ![]()
Same! I’m on most of the time, because there is nothing to do at this house
Exactly, except for playing with Ben
But Ben gets angry with me when I bother him too much so he is usually let alone during the day exept for feeding time, which is three times a day, and sleepy time, which is where I lay down in his cage and sleep for a bit with him until he falls asleep, than I slowly get out.
awwww! Ben sounds so cute!
Your bunnies are so cute too! Who can resist their little faces!
ah finally fall is here !!!
can finally stop with the fans lol. only bad thing i keep getting reminded October is around the corner cause of my 32nd birthday,, ![]()
im like let me enjoy September first plssssssssss!![]()

IT’S SPRING!!! Spring, Spring, Spring!! I am so excited.
Warm weather, sunny days and bird survey season are here! The lead up to Christmas is always extremely busy which I hate, but I love the weather!
I’m… Dreaming… of a green, grassy Christmas! Just like the ones in Australia!
AUTUMN. Cool weather, fuzzy sweaters, hot chocolate, hearty soups. Summer’s heat and longer daylight had made Olaf less eager to snuggle so I’m a little selfish in my excitement now that he’s interested in hanging out again. *sits alone* Please love meeee.
Autumn: Lots and lots of apples and pears, the trees are heavy with fruit this year. I’m planning on making hot chilly jelly and rowanberry/apple jelly.
Mushroom-picking: I love mushroom-hunting in the woods. My dog does too, minus the mushrooms (she can’t hunt anything at all, but she keeps her hopes up).
The downside of autumn is the short evenings.
I love Autumn. My friends and I do bonfires once the weather gets cool enough and drink mulled wine and talk late into the night. Some of my favorite memories are around those autumn fires.
Plus, I love sweaters! Its like wearing your favorite blanket to work! That sounds terrible, I know.
Hot spiced apple cider and maple doughnuts are the autumn thing here! Spicy pumpkin soup is my favorite fall soup
I love fall bonfires, when we put blankets on the ground (safe distance from the fire) and look at the stars and meteors. Reese likes it too
Spicy pumpkin soup and maple donuts sound amazing and I love hot apple cider. I can’t wait for Odette to see her first pumpkin.
How cool that that Reese isn’t frightened by the bonfire. That sounds like a perfect night with the stars and meteor showers.
I hate fall. Mostly because it just doesn’t exist here half the time. LOL I will be really warm and then really cold. Sometimes there’s a roller coaster happening when there are huge dramatic swings within a week. I hate it. You’re wearing shorts one day and then bringing the coats out the next. =\
You hate fall??? I think it is the best season! I love the cold weather.
It can be 70s, even 80s one day, and in the 30s or 40s the next. Hate it.
I’m excited for Fall, but we have the same problem, LBJ. It’s easy to use the a/C and heater in the same day. It’s hard to know how to dress lol.
I love fall too – we just don’t get one here. Not properly autumnish, anyways. We just get the turnaround night – when a cool breeze kicks in signaling the end of the heat. Everyone waits for that night. After that, it’s nice weather until it flips to hot again in mid-spring.
Can you imagine how amazing palm trees would look if their fronds turned colours in autumn? Like giant torches everywhere…
But I do put on a show of solidarity and wear Uggs and sweaters and scarves and beanies and gloves to work. And drink mulled wine in the evenings. ![]()
Love it when the leaves change colors, it’s so beautiful.
That moment of confusion when you receive a St Patrick’s Day card in September… I opened the mailbox this afternoon to find a lovely green envelope addressed to us from Hubby’s parents in the USA. Turns out it was a St Patrick’s Day card that they mailed on Feb 26th which only just arrived over 6 months later. I can’t help but wonder where it’s been all this time. Is the international post sent via canoe now?
Also, it’s FRIDAY!!!! ![]()
Azerane, maybe the international postal gods reasoned like St Patricks Day is in early spring and that’d correspond roughly to September in Aussie? The canoe-theory sounds more likely though.
I forgot to say Chewie, Bindi and Sterling yesterday =(
I’ve always thought it must be so bizzare having Christmas in Summer Azerane & other Aussies – but I’m sure you probably think it’s weird that we have it in winter
Christmas is all about snow and being cozied up to a warm fire and christmas jumpers and mulled wine to me!
None of the christmas songs count in australia
Except for Six White Boomers, Aussie Jingle Bells and Aussie 12 Days of Christmas
But you are right, most of them really don’t count, haha.
Each more cringeworthy than the last
I do have a soft spot for Six White Boomers, lol.

What about Bindi and Sterling?![]()
Nope, sorry guys – it was all about Chewie this month. I promised him.![]()
I love autumn cause it means winter is coming! I basically only live in winter XD I’m a child of darkness, cold and hot cocoa.
Hopefully autumn will pass by quickly, cause it’s not even begun and I already have a crap-ton of stuff to do! Yday I got to know my deadline to present my research to the national congress of spinal injury is on Sept 9 and not Oct 15 as they first told me AND I have a pretty bad cold (so can’t sleep properly).
Argh! And it’s still 30°C
Guys! Today we found out our teachers and I got a horrible one!
![]()
Aww, Benthebunny, I wouldn’t be too worried. I remember learning I was going to be in the mean teacher’s class one year when I was in school. She turned out to be the best teacher ever! Don’t let others’ experiences cloud your judgement. Go in with an open mind and make your own assessment after you’ve been in the class for awhile. ![]()
But Vienna, Chewie isn’t a white rabbit. His color is distinctly dandelion fluff. ![]()
The only thing I hate about fall is how busy it is. Yesterday I got up at 6:30, did school work for an hour, did one of my cleaning jobs from 7:30-1:00, got home in time to grab a granola bar and change before I walked to somebody’s house to pick up their child from the bus and watch the child until 5:00, walked home in time to grab another granola bar (lol) and leave for my next babysitting job which lasted until 8:15. I then did school until 11 pm.
I couldn’t sleep for some reason last night, I was very restless. I’m so tired. I’ve been studying and doing school all day. uhg.
My favorite season was Autumn/Fall….unfortunately we don’t get it like we used to when I was a kid.
I loved the crisp mornings, comfortable days and cool nights, the colorful tree line, no more air conditioning!! Opening up the windows and letting in that fresh air!
Anyway…over the last few years I have been noticing that our 4 seasons aren’t much like I remember growing up….I remember mom packing up the summer closet and putting out the winter clothes…..dad cutting wood and stacking it by the fire place for the cooler nights that were coming.
Now you have to leave all season clothes in the closet because you may get a week of beautiful fall weather and then a couple of days of Summer heat….
This past winter we had a week with snow on the ground and then a week later we hit 65 degrees for a couple of days….then another winter storm rolls in!
I wish I could live in permanent Fall weather!!!!!
When I get home from school, I have to watch a little girl until 6:00
I think some of us may be in for a late Summer. I see a 95°F/35°C day at the end of our ten day forecast.
LBJ – excellent advice for BTB, it was exactly what I was going to write !! (It was! Truly!)
Our adv. maths teacher was the same. A very strict, frightening, elderlyish man who marched down the corridors shouting DON’T RUN!!
But he played on his reputation and in the first lesson (with us trembling in our Doc Martins) he explained that he didn’t mind if we didn’t understand (just ask) or didn’t get the answer right, what he couldn’t stand was laziness and his time being wasted – so as long as we showed a page worth of calculations, even if wrong, things would be OK. And do you know they were !!
Oh Mr Collins – I only had him for a year, but respect lives on !!
What a nice story Vienna! And thanks!
Ugh. I’m so depressed. I was crying earlier because I saw Cash’s socks sitting by the back door. It’s been 2 months. The socks hadn’t moved. But I saw them there and I broke down into tears. ![]()

Jingle Bells
Batman smells
Robin flew away
Father Christmas
Lost his britches

Not been posting, life been manic, but the new uni term is around the corner, and things should go quiet. too quiet, no doubt…
Snickers and jenny are not co-operating with bonding. Currently, Pippi is spending outside time with Snickers and Mini, and indoor time with jenny, so he stays bonded to all three. Why swap cuddly toys, when you’ve a Pippi bun to swap!
Ahhhh less. He just a coooool bun isn’t he? es. Enjoy the manic while it lasts.. ![]()
Jersey – Her socks were just sitting there “looking” at me.
Those are some very strange versions. LOL It goes:
Jingle Bells
Batman smells
Robin laid an egg
The Batmobile lost a wheel
And the Joker got away!
:p
I’m exhausted. We went to the zoo today. Wonderful weather, but with it being a holiday weekend the place was packed. We had to wait forever just to buy tickets. A lot of the buildings were crowded so we skipped some things. That’s okay, we’ve seen that stuff a million times. We were really just there to see the new elephants. Then we went downtown to have a late lunch. We walked around the lake there. Finally, we went to the outlet mall on the way home. My husband got a waterproof rain jacket from the North Face store for $60 (regularly $200). Then he got some shorts from the Under Armor store. Notice I didn’t buy anything for me. It was all for him.
Dance starts on Wednesday.
And I need to learn how to post a video of me playing the Ukulele for you guys. ![]()

Have had an awesome weekend
My dad’s visiting from interstate so he stayed at our place last night, was super nice to see him and we’ll be seeing him again next weekend. Then this morning I conducted my first bird surveys for the season, and boy did I hit the jackpot. My very first site not only had amazing views of gorgeous rolling hills, but I saw a bird that not only have I never seen before, but is a rarity for the state. So that was pretty exciting. Unfortunately since I was doing official surveys, I didn’t have my camera because I can’t carry it while using a clipboard and keeping track of time, but I managed to make a detailed sketch etc. I knew what it was right away, but when observing rare birds, they take observations more seriously if you have detailed field notes or sketches that you made at the time. So even though because the ground and all the vegetation was wet I ended up with squishy wet socks for over 3 hours, it was well worth it.
But wait, there’s more! On the way home, I passed by a willow tree overhanging the edge of a dirt road, so I pulled over, jumped out and grabbed some of that for the bunnies. I’m thinking I might only give them a little of it fresh, then perhaps try and weave the rest into wreaths and dry in the oven or something, I’m not sure yet. Any ideas on dealing with that?
Azerane, It sounds like a really great weekend, except the wet socks
I’ve dried willow leaves and willow wreaths, it always turns out very well. You can hang the wreaths in a closet or sth so they dry in a dark place. My only problem with willow is acquiring enough of it ![]()
If you’re confident they haven’t been treated with anything, you can weave them into rings and dry them as Bam suggested.
Yes I always check the health of a tree before collecting. The only reason anyone treats a willow tree here is to kill it. It was on private property but overhanging the road, they had multiple very healthy trees and no indication of anything bad.
Thanks for the tips bam ![]()
Multiple very healthy trees? Well then why on EARTH would you not have stuffed your car FULL of it !!?????? ![]()
Because the rest of them weren’t accessible unless I just walked onto their property ![]()
Well I had a “windfall” today – unfortuntely not the financial kind, but just as good !!
A WHOLE huge branch of a willow tree had fallen down in the windy rainstorms of this morning next to the canal and so I ran (well walked, like I was doing a wobbly-kneed, swingy-hip movement walking race) back home to get a bag and secateurs and left a naked branch by the waterside !!
YUM! YUM! exclamed Zou when I arrived home!!!
Just got back from cinoche (cinema) “Nocturama”.
DO NOT spend 2 hrs watching it…. trust me !! It does SO annoy me when my time is wasted like that !!
So had to go have a Chinese with my other disappointed friends to make up for it….. ![]()

Az – which side of Oz are you? Same as Jersey or not?![]()
She is! She mentioned in Q&A thread that she’s in South Australia. Same as me. ![]()
@Azerane, as Bam said, just pop willow in a dark place (keeps leaves from going black) with a bit of air flow around it if want to dry some. It won’t take long. I put it in my shed, hanging up if I get lots. Then put in cardboard box after. You can easily dry in in open cardboard box also if there isn’t a ton of it.
It’s great seeing the new seasons growth coming in. Happy bunnies! The weeping willow around he seems to get rust but its good for a lot of weeks when it’s new growth. There is another non weeping type i pick that seems to be more resistant to the rust. The council has cut out some of my fave tree.
Im hoping they haven’t been back to take it all out.
Yes, we’re in the same place
And hooray for willow hauls! I made mine into varying sized wreaths. I tried drying some in the oven which worked well but was a mistake because the smell was very strong
the others are slowly drying in front of the heater.
ETA jersey’s post wasn’t there when I started.
I am so excited because I finally Crysta-proofed the decking and backyard fences, and she had her first run of the whole backyard today
She did a high binky for the first time, so I was so chuffed! It was so much work to clear out and modify the backyard, but I was like the Energiser Bunny today. Thor had not had a full run of the backyard for a year (since we got Crysta), so he got a bit tubby, and I was feeling terrible about it as he always kept the weight off, pre-bond. Maybe love just made him too happy? :p I am looking forward to seeing him slim down a bit because our house is so limiting for him, and he was so used to race-tracking at high speed. As weird as this sounds, it was my dream to have two bunnies enjoy the backyard in safety, and now I’ve actually achieved this. The only thing is, it takes me 15 mins to herd Thor back into my arms. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can get him quicker? I don’t chase him but I do herd him to a smaller area where I can block it off and pick him up. Is there a better way to do this or is this pretty much standard rabbit-getting technique?
Get him trained so that hutch time is treat or pellet time. Get him used to a familiar sound such as the crinkling or shaking of the bag that will send him running to come get his dinner or treats.
Exciting day today, my dad goes a bit crazy sometimes. We don’t see him very often, so when he stayed over Saturday night he randomly decided to buy us a new tv. I was a bit surprised but obviously very thankful. There’s plenty of other things that would have been more useful, but it’s nice all the same. Extremely generous of him but he just gets that way sometimes when he decides to buy something for someone, he gets his mind set on it. So today we picked up the tv and hubby is just getting it all set up. About to turn it on for the first time ![]()
Maybe it was a belated BD present?
I was just thinking “yay for bunnies, new box!” haha. But i forgot, tv’s these days don’t have much of a box.
@L4B, I miss being able to do this for my rabbits. Although, these days they’d act more freaked out then anything when outside. Except Rumball. Back when I only had Jersey and Rumball, I use to let them roam the yard. I could whistle at the back door and Jersey would come to that. She knew she would get a treat. And Rumball would catch on and follow her. He’s a lop so didn’t hear as well as her.
Are you just needing them to hop inside or do they need to go to a specific room?
If I were rich I’d live in the Northern hemisphere from April to September and the rest of the year in Aussie. Just imagine. I have to play the Euro Lotto. Does anyone have a fresh poop-count for me?
23 LOL
Thank you Vienna! Only 6 more needed!
The box is pretty slim, I had already thought of that
Not a BDay present, just my dad suddenly deciding to spend lots of money. He’s not a very family person so I think it’s just his way of saying that he cares.
I found 6 poops outside the box! ![]()

JG, I wish my bunnies would come when I whistled. You’ve hit the nail on the head – they need to go to a specific room. I have to carry them through the hallway, living room and kitchen to reach the backyard
Not too fun when you need to give them daily exercise. I don’t want to pick them up too much so I plan to open up their entire pen 4 days a week to give them full access to the other half of their room, and the other 3 days I will carry them outside. Thor hates to go inside after experiencing the backyard. He knows all my luring tricks ![]()
I just always feel bad for him because he trusts me a lot, except for when I pick him up multiple days in a row. He always forgives me and lets me snuggle next to his face when I put him down again, but he is a little displaced
if our kitchen were big enough and my hubby, more accommodating, my bunnies would live in the kitchen for sure! I was uncertain if I would be overdoing it with taking them outside cos my bunnies can’t be free range house bunnies…
Instead of carrying in arms you could put into transport carrier to take them out. That’s how Podge & co ‘travel’ to outside time…
Zou always gets her treat on my lap (me on floor) so she thinks “Yay! Lap. Treats!’, So make sure you give the ‘wow factor’ treats ONLY in the cage and with a rustle or word which is ONLY associated with that treat… I have a word and it works for her to come to me…. If she’s really hungry, she comes like a bolt like a cartoon animal who can’t brake fast enough when she reaches destination and skids past….
![]()
Boy, Wooly must be really mad at me from yesterday. I don’t think the numbers on the lotto go up that high!
bam: 21 ![]()
Have any of you watched “Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell”? We just finished it. At first I thought it was a bit slow, but I ended up enjoying it. And “Stranger Things” has been renewed for a second season!
There’s so much stuff coming up that we need to watch, both on Netflix and tv.
In other news, while I was doing some yard work yesterday, a frog came up and peed on my foot. I wasn’t even getting very close to him, he just hopped over and squirted me! What a jerk… ![]()

Zou sounds like Thor! I know exactly what you mean.
Yes, I used the carrier yesterday. It’s totally fine when we’re inside and Thor hears the bag rustle. He knows where to go (inside the cage) and the drill. He’s like clockwork. It’s more that it takes about 15mins to get him at the end of playtime. We don’t have a massive yard, but he knows that treats outdoors means “you’re going inside”. I was hoping to minimise stress that it might give to Thor, because he wants to stay outside, and I can’t observe for more than a couple of hours, you know?
I will try again with the rustling of bags. He is a lop cross, so he may not hear me, but maybe if he hears it instead of seeing me with it, it might help.

I was just walking by, but maybe that’s what he was worried about.
He was probably saying “Get the heck away from my leaves!!!”
LBJ: Yeah it was a frog, a big one too. Sort of blue with dark spots, very pretty. At that moment I didn’t appreciate that, though… ![]()
Don’t know why all the critters around our house are so confrontational, every time we walk out the door the lizards on the railing bop their heads at us like they’re all that. And the other day, we found a little garden snake at the bottom of the stairs, I tried shooing him to a safer spot, and boy did he let me know to mind my own business! The smallest snakes have the biggest attitudes (kind of like bunnies). ![]()

Guys, the scariest thing happened to me today!
So me, my mom and brothers went to go see a movie at a drive in, the radio is on, were all having a good time, and the radio stops. The car is off. My mom tries to turn the car on. The cars interior lights start flashing and the car is making a clicking noise. The car was totally freaking out and would not turn off. So we are waiting at the movie theater for someone to come with a booster. The next movie that plays is a not that apropriate for my brothers age. Great, now we have to wait in the car where there is that stomach turning clicking noise. It was not the noise that scared us, it was the cause of the noise. So we are waiting in the car for about an hour, each click making my stomach knot tighten even more. The most nervewracking thing I had to do was tell everyone it was okay, even though I knew somthing was wrong. Now I am at home, just got back safe. Someone came with a booster, and my oldest brother was thanking the guy with the booster so much I would not be suprised if he went up to him and kissed him. But right now, what I am concerned about is the CHECK-ENGINE light is on. My dad has to check that tomorrow ![]()
I hope the repair is easy and inexpensive, Benthebunny. I know that awful feeling well.
I’m jealous you have drive ins though! We have a place that projects movies on a rooftop terrace screen, but not the same! Still very cool.
L4B – brilliant philosophy – made me LOL…. ![]()

I’m back!
I was dying! No wifi for over a week (ISP went belly up and good luck getting a contract with another ISP when you’ve got less than three months left before civil ID expires).
The only thing I missed more than Skyping with my mom: BINKY BUNNY!!!
Now what did I miss?
(I bet you guys didn’t even notice I was gone, huh? Mean old barracudas…) ![]()
You missed my car freaking out ![]()
Q8 – Nah, you didn’t miss much. Except maybe you being dubbed a linguistics nerd, apparently. LOL
Oooh! Merci beaucoup! ![]()
Tomorrow is my first day of college! Im exited and nervous
Ben, that sounds SO exiting! I hope you’ll have lots of fun and make many new friends and learn lots and lots of stuff
Q8, we’ve missed you! I’m collecting numbers for the Euro lotto, so if Chewie has bestowed any stray poops upon you, please tell me how many ![]()
LOL Funny you should mention it: he just gifted me with a gorgeous little mini pile of 7 gleaming fresh poops.
Ben: SO exciting! ![]()
L4B – no, the piggie was an white and rust coloured one… he was a Zou version of a guinea pig… huuuuuge
Ben – very exciting – make every day count ! Even if it’s in bed relaxing.
Q-iiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeee !! Well do you know I was thinking it strange that there was no reply to my “Q8 !! Come defend yourself” plea !!
And that’s exactly what I was talking about a little while ago, we could disappear off this planet (and BB’s planet) and we have no way of checking if it was a conscious decision, or a “whoops” moment….
I mean what school (establishment) am I going to call in Kuwait to ask if there is a linguistics nerd there with a dandelion fluffball hidden under her coat, who downloads far more things that are legally allowed, has questionably (not)firm upper arms and has slight OCD, oh and has a kermit car??!!! Hmmmm???!!!
– and check that you are OK ? (phew!)
LOL
The dandelion fluffball sends kisses but can’t come say hi because he’s watching Star Wars TFA again.

General Zod (Thor) & Crysta (Princess Leia) left me 37 the other day. I put new hay on the ground in a paper bag and they lost their toilet habits ![]()
@Q8 – everybun knows that when you blow a dandelion, the seeds fly off and kiss everyone on the wind… so no need to be nearby to get a Chewie nudge !! ![]()
L4B: LOL!
Those are hilarious!!! And totally fitting!
Btb: Don’t worry, the check engine light in our truck is always on…
Seriously though, I’m glad you got home okay. Hopefully it’s nothing serious, maybe just a bad battery like LBJ said.
I got my first summons for jury duty. ![]()
I haven’t become a real life adult yet – no jury duty so far! Lol, hopefully it’ll get dismissed before the court date. ![]()
Thank you hazel. In Canada where i am it is 7:37 pm, in two hours i need to go to bed early for school
But im exited for college ![]()

For anyone who’s interested, I figured out the Thor/ Run time issue. Well, at least I think I did.
MY BUNNY IS TRYING TO TRAIN ME.
That is the conclusion to the matter. Would an angry rabbit do this after you patiently followed him round the backyard to bring him inside?:
I think not. Thor will let me near him when he knows I’m not going to bring him inside. But otherwise, forget it.
He is just too smart.
L4B, what a lovely shiny coat he has! Of course he’s trying to train you. Buns are always tring to train their humans. They often succeed. When they don’t succeed it’s because hoomins are stoopid.
Old article, but I found a dodo.com article about binkies that has Bandit in it. I wasn’t asked of course, but I suppose I don’t mind. He’s number 18. The back-and-forth binky: https://www.thedodo.com/rabbits–bunnies-jumping-binkies-1145623697.html

I see what you mean! Thanks for the compliment, Bam
His coat is one of my favourite things to faceplant into. When I walked into the shelter, his shiny black coat was what caught my eye and it is the softest fur I have ever felt. I was so worried I was making Thor’s life tough by carrying him outside that I didn’t think to ask myself if there was a difference in behaviour before and after playtime. He and I have a really good bunny-human bond, so all I really had to do was trust it and not stress so much! He knows what he’s doing!!
L4B, Thor looks like he know’s exactly what he’s doing =)
Azerane, those were the most amazing, super-cute binky-vids I’ve ever seen! Love Bandit’s cardboard tunnel!
Kiss on the booplesnoot for clever patient Thor.
Thanks, Q8
I will kiss him but I will take the credit for being the patient one in the Hoomin-Lago relationship, haha!
Thor’s fur IS so shiny! Such a handsome little thunderbun.
Odette tries to train me, but I can be almost as stubborn as she is!
BTB: I hope your first day at college was exciting.
Odette, that reminds me – on the subject of stubbornness… I purchased a super soft baby brush for rubbing Crysta’s head, only to find that it spooked her so badly, she would shoot to the other side of the enclosure. I was like “Wha?!! … just… happened?!”. Next, I tried it on Thor, and got some of the tiny soft bristles near his eye, and he BOXED me! Haha. I thought he was angry because he saw me giving Crysta attention, but I think he also hated it when he got it! He gave me bunny butt for about an hour and refused to lick my hand (that’s how I know I’ve wounded his ego). I am one of those owners who is really patient but quiety stubborn. I never show all my cards to Thor.
Thor boxed you?!
You named him well! That is awfully cute though. I admire your fortitude for standing up to the cute!
I don’t know if I told you this…maybe? My mom’s cat is named Thor Honey. He is also black, but super fluffy. She named him Honey, but he was the most mischievous kitten I’ve ever seen. I told mom he was a Thor, not a Honey, and Thor Honey stuck.

I agree, Thor’s fur looks super shiny and soft! What a cutie.
I just want to squeeze him.
Wow, I really didn’t do much today…..
More bunnies coming tomorrow. Baby sitting. I really need to get off BB and get organised! I’ll be getting overly exposed to bunnies this coming week, if that is even possible!
Nope. Not possible.
Odette- It was vey exiting! i learned my scedule, and my teachers are not horrible! homeroom is a bit strict but thats ok ![]()
I’m thinking not as well.
Okay, can I just say people are annoying? I happened across an article on facebook that was relevant for work. I shared it on my work’s facebook page. Someone commented on it and tried to pick a fight and then claimed they were going to write a better article on their blog. Um… okay? Note: this was not political or controversial in ANY WAY. It was about landscaping techniques…
Your work sounds like you + a bunch of people suffering from arrested development. LOL You just keep doing your job, and they just keep being boobs.

Have you seen “Office Space”, LBJ10?
Pfft! Red Stapler Guy by day, Keyboard Warrior by night.
Q8 – This was a random person on the internet! LOL
L4B – No, I haven’t. =\
This argumentative person reminds me of the passive aggressive character who struggles to assert himself in person, but ends up quiety burning the office down as the grand finale of the movie.
Theo refused to eat on tuesday again. He came round slowly after simethicone, belly rubs and some critical care. But he, again, refused non-syringed food all day. He’s doing better now though, seemed eager to eat his brekkie this morning.
So disheartening because he had been previously doing so well on his new food.
And Thor definitely knows what he is doing – Theo is a total cuddle bug 98% of the time but when it’s about 11 o’clock and i so much as get off the sofa he runs and hides under the coffee table because he knows it’s bedtime – the little tinker!
PS that binky article is way too cute
Theodorus, I’m sorry about Theo’s recurring tummy trouble. I hope it will be less and less often. Hang in there! (i know you will, of course).
I now have 6 poop-counts, so I just need one more. Please?
I hope so, but it feels like we may face this forever. The vet’s stumped as are we. It makes leaving him for anytime at all so hard because I’m scared he’ll become ill and go downhill rapidly like he did the first time.
I’d happily oblige but I’m at work currently (don’t tell my boss I’m on BB
) especially because I’m poop-obsessed currently with Theo haha
Theodorus: Chewie and I will keep sending Theo (((iron guts vibes))).
LBJ: lol Ok. Internet boobs, then.
I LOVE red stapler guy! His face when he’s in his boiler room office cracks me up every time. ![]()
Theo, I’m really sorry to hear about the little guy. I hope he gets better, fast. At least he has a caring Mama who will nurse him back to health. Well, it’s good to know I’m not alone with the Thor thing! Especially when you know you have a cuddlebug on your hands, it’s quite perplexing when they start changing behaviour.
Q8, I will have to youtube that scene to refresh my memory. Milton is the epitome of passive-aggressive behaviour! You never, ever suspect him. Or did you?…

LBJ: I guess some people are touchy about their landscaping. ![]()
Theo: I’m sorry he’s not feeling well. Sending lots of vibes!
Btb: Glad to hear you had a good first day!
Theo: I hope Theo’s tummy stays on the mend.
BTB: That’s awesome. Enjoy your semester.
Jersey – Bunsitting = sitting on buns – I think that’s against BB rules ??!
You should know better being a leader !
Azerane – Bandit’s binkying was brill and that last one, miscalculated and falling off bed – rotfl !!!!! Or rather “rotbl” !!!
There seem to be a lot of boobs on BB lately…..
I’m not bothered. Just saying.
I’m off to London tomorrow eve to see Ghost The Musical (! Yes really !!) – I saw it in 2012 on Broadway, surprised myself by loving it and promised to take Mum if it ever came London way – she remembered, so she bought me a ticket !!!! Cunning plan Vienna !! LOL
Vienna, that sounds lovely
Hope you’ll have a great time!
I’m going to a big dog show this weekend. Best place to buy vet beds for the buns!
!!! A big dog show? Ahhhhhhh I’m jealous !!! I bought a baby’s cot mattress for Kyra a few years ago – a fraction of the price of animal beds, just the right size and nice and soft !! ![]()
Ooh a dog show, what fun
One of my favourite parts about going to the Royal Show here is getting to see all the various dog/cat/rabbit breeds etc. Can’t afford to go this year though, will just have to spend more time with the bunnies instead ![]()
Hazel – it was ridiculous! Especially since I agreed with what they were saying, but somehow what I was saying was not the same thing. o_O
Some people just are that way. No matter what was said, it’s wrong unless they’re the ones who said it. Nothing to do but nod and smile. Or ignore them. ![]()

Yep!
@VB, bun sitting may be against the rules but bun stealing isn’t ! I may steal Zou while you’re in London. Then I can bring my number up to 9. She can play with Sweetie, one of the visiting bunnehs.
Chewie’s latest morning thing: I’ll stretch out on my belly and prop myself up on my forearms; Chewie then backs up between my forearms until his bum is up against my throat; I then ‘lock his sides in’ with my forearms, use my hands to rub his cheeks, and kiss his hot little ears from up above. He tooth purrs like he’s in heaven. And I can rest my cheek on top of his bum between ear kisses like on a soft little pillow. ![]()
Q8!! I do something so similar. I lock ma bunny in between my arms like that too and scratch his cheeks. How funny! Then, I sniff his head, hahah. Crysta always smells dusty (even before she went outside). But Thor has always smelt like a bloomin’ rosebush! I bet Chewy makes the most comfy rest.
Btw, today I realised without a doubt, I’ve been totally had by General Zod (Thor’s other alter ego). He doesn’t even move an inch when I pick him up for his PM run time. NOT AN INCH. He totally let’s me scoop him up like it were nothing. NOTHING!! Like he were in a bunny day spa and I was taking him out for shiatsu – that kind of welcome calm. When it came time to finally surrender Dorothy at the end of play, he eventually relaxed into loaf position, all “FINE. Then carry me away”. What. A. Stinker. Still in a bit of shock he is so smart.
But… you guys already knew all of this, I have a feeling…
Yup. Bunnies are too clever by half.
Friday again
Hooray. Busy weekend coming up but should be fun. Just trying to think of a new meal recipe for Dory because I’ve got to do a big shop for her food prep at the market tomorrow morning.
So far:
Mung bean sprouts (already sprouted at home)
Papaya (already in the freezer)
Bok Choy (already in fridge extra that the bunnies won’t eat)
I need a couple of orange/red veg, maybe a leafy green and some green veg. I usually like to use kale for the leafy green because it’s high in calcium, but I think bok choy is reasonable in that regard so I might buy a herb. Other options include pumpkin, sweet potato, capsicum, carrot, cucumber, zucchini, radishes, snow peas, broccoli, lettuce. I tend to leave out the fruit from her meals because I usually offer fruit in the evening.
ETA: Ugh, just discovered I shouldn’t be sprouting milo, which Dory’s seed mix definitely has. How frustrating. Better to find out now than too late I suppose, but now I have to pick out all the milo seeds
At least they’re a decent size. Time to find a new mix I suppose.
Can’t say Ive ever heard of milo seed!
What about fresh beetroot as one of the red veggies?
Couple pics of my visitors. ![]()

Azerane, I’d no idea about the milo seeds. Scary! Glad you discovered it in time! Dory’s diet sounds so yummy even for a non-parrot like me ![]()
Twinsies, JG
How sweet they look!
Your visitors are precious, Jerseygirl.
Azerane, I agree with Bam. Dory’s food sounds delicious. Does she like sweet potato?
I left the bedroom early this morning and slept until the alarm on the living room couch. I do that when I can’t get back to sleep, but this is the first time Odette has seen me do it. She was beyond excited and curious. Odette probably thinks wake the human is a fun new game!
Also, I weighed her last night. She is up to 4 lbs/1.8 kg at almost 5 months old.
I can’t believe I waited six years between bunnies.
hey Jersey….maybe I missed it somewhere on another thread but I wanted to ask….
What do you mean by visitors? Do you board rabbits? I know I have seen pics posted by you where your room is sectioned off with pairs of buns…are they all yours? How do you keep up with all the play time, cleaning and such?!? Do you have a rotation schedule? Sorry for all the questions I was just curious
They are adorable!!
Jersey has 8 family members and then some come visit for club-med time. Or rather Club Jersey time !!!! Lol
The twinnoes are gorgeous JG…
And yes… how DO you cope with everything??… (and all you other multiplebun owners…..!) ![]()
Twinsies!!!! ![]()
JG!!! THEY ARE SO CUTE![]()
guys if you have bacon poutine chips at your grocery store, BUY THEM! they are amazing!!!!
L4B & Q8: Where did you guys get such sweet bunnies from?? If I got down on the floor and put my arms around Oscar, I’m pretty sure he would blow up in my face like a land mine… ![]()
jerseygirl: Aww, they’re so cute!! ![]()
Well, it’s milo sorghum. Apparently there’s regular sorghum and milo sorghum. I didn’t know there was a difference which is why when I looked up the seeds on the ingredient list I thought it was all good. Then I happened to notice something that said “never sprout milo sorghum”, I double-checked my ingredients and was quite disappointed. I’ve read it’s fine as a dry seed, but sprouting makes the cyanide content skyrocket. So I’ve either been poisoning her, or building up her tolerance so she can resist a lethal dose, lol.
But yes, she eats better than we do. She likes sweet potato, hates beetroot though. I tried it in her chop mix once, and since she didn’t like it, she wouldn’t eat any of the mix because the beetroot stains and flavours everything. It was such a waste so I won’t be doing that again
Here was I thinking she was going to love it since many other parrot owners mentioned their birds just go crazy for beetroot.
@ How cute your visitors are too, tough telling them apart at a quick glance
They look broken black in the first photo.
Azerane – What about squashes like butternut squash? You could also try bell peppers. They come in lots of colors.
Oh my, what a day. I was running all over the place for work. I’m glad the week is over and it’s the weekend.
Question: What is better for a toy for a baby girl? Bright rainbow colors? Or something more “coordinated”? I’m having someone make a wooden toy for my niece and I can choose whatever colors I want.

Noooo. LOL I don’t have 8 bunnies.
Im guessing you got that number from my profile? Anyway, I have 5 bunnehs. 2 pairs and a single. The most Ive had at one time is 6. As recently as early last year when Maple was alive. She was part of a trio in with Gooseman and Potamus. So 5 bunnies, 3 rainbow bridge bunnies (Jersey, Jelly and Maple).

They are adorable!!
No, I don’t do boarding, though friends recently were sending me pictures of boarding set-ups as a joke.
The visitors are a friends rabbits, with me for 3 weeks while they take a holiday.
The last pair I had here was someone I know that had been working on bonding their rabbits. They were having trouble getting that to progress and hard to find neutral space. So I took them for a week to finalise the bond. I have had other friends rabbits here for bonding also.
In the past I did some private fostering but I get too attached. So the only rabbits I (temporarily) take now are ones that already have great homes.
As for my own crew, I have my pairs sharing one room with a divider down the middle. They each have a 3 x 1.3 m area. The single boy (Tim Tim) is free range in my bedroom. I took him in at 4 weeks of age. He’s pretty bonded with me.
Re play time, my guys pretty much sleep! Well, Timbu does get pretty active when he wants me to get outta bed though. lol
They have things in their area that allows them to go up levels, and I give them boxes. They basically are mostly interested in food for stimulation.
When the weather is nice, I take them outside for enrichment. And they sit and do NOTHING until right before I need to bring them back in.
Well, thats true for a couple of them anyway.
Rumball is my oldest rabbit so I bring him into my living room on occasion to spend one on one time with him. A few years back I had just Jersey, then brought him home to bond with her. They were free range through out the day. I do miss that. So I like to bring him into the living room like the good old days. I also bring Ailis out on occasion (This is Rumballs companion now) but not both of them together. They are messy together, neat on their own. ![]()
Cleaning… My pairs are a bit messy. They all use the litterbox to pee and poop but there are a lot of poops out of the box also. So its just a matter of sweeping those up. The girls both occasionally do a territorial pee too but thankfully not too often. They’re buggers for peeing when I take the litter box out though!
TimTim is great with litter habits. The only mess he creates is hay strewn out of box, fur tumbleweeds, bits of chewed up cardboard and blankets.
So essentially, I only have 3 litterboxes to take care of. 3 waterbowls to clean & refresh, 3 food bowls to keep replenished with noms. ![]()

L4B & Q8: Where did you guys get such sweet bunnies from?? If I got down on the floor and put my arms around Oscar, I’m pretty sure he would blow up in my face like a land mine…
Hehe, from the reject bunnies from the shelter, that’s who!
LBJ10, I think it depends on the parent. If they aren’t all hipster-like or fussy about decor, I would choose bright rainbow colours.
@Azerane, Yes the pair are so very similar! And they are broken blacks. : ) The single bunny has some grey and tan colours. Im not sure on her colouration. I think possibly an broken agouti. I’ll have to take a closer look at her fur. She has gorgeous eyes.
Jersey: Beautiful markings on your transiting fluffballs
Hazel: I’m sure I’ve done nothing to deserve him, but Chewie is my life’s one and only jackpot. ![]()
L4B – I know, that’s why I’m stumped. She started out saying no pink. The nursery was originally decorated in light gray and lime green. Now I see my niece wearing pink all the time. I guess that’s what happens when you accept free clothes from people at work. *sigh*
I’m leaning toward rainbow… but maybe muted rainbow? And having the colors going in order instead of being random. I dunno.
I’ve heard babies like primary colors. I’d go with the rainbow too.
@Q8, their owner had a dalmaltion also (lived to be 12) so she must have a thing for black and white spots. : )
Since I wrote abit of an essay above, I wanted to write some more. Lol.
I don’t have anything against those with multiple rabbits. It certainly is some work, but these can be quite content rabbits. I have some friends that have upward of 7 but they are either in groups of 3 or pairs and some single rabbits. I have seen situations of larger groups where the rabbits didn’t fair so well.
Kept in same sex groups with most not neutered.
For me, I never envisioned having more then 2 rabbits really. Jersey was a single rabbit for over a year and I really think she have remained happily single. I got her companion Rumball around easter time. I saw an ad for him in the paper and got caught up in thinking about rabbits adverstised at easter and where they might end up. He was already desexed and 2 years old though, so he would probably been alright. Any rabbits that came after him were not intentional. Tim Tim was a “foster”, a baby I took in after a friend found him and I planned to get to an age where he’d be healthy and find a good home for him. But I soon found the though of giving him away to virtual strangers was difficult. But I did struggle with the thought of extending my own number to 3. Hilarious when I think about it now!
Then came Jelly (through same friend), then came Maple (through same friend) And then Maple had babies a week after I took her in. 3 died at birth, Potamus survived. Then came some foster lops (through same friend) …you see the pattern?… which we did successfully find homes for, but Goose was the remaining rabbit from that group. After 18month, I said he was pretty much mine and bonded him with Maple and Potamus.
Back to Jelly. He was either born with cataracts or they developed soon after and he ended up developing a jaw abscess. Difficult to keep under control. He eventually got really ill (unknown cause) and I had to have him put to sleep. In 2013, I lost Jersey – she was in early stasis and I think she may have had a stroke. After she passed away, I took in Ailis (Supposed to be temporary) to give another friend who was fostering her some respite. The now single Rumball showed some interest in her so I decided to try bonding them – which worked. : )
I no longer am influenced by this “friend”. She had a tendency to find rabbits and have this big story that went along with them that she liked to share on social media. She’d “rescue” them but them have various other people (myself included) end up taking them on. She had enough of her own anyway
.
In hindsight, it was a crappy situation and I no longer have much contact with this person. I have seen a real strong pattern with her an acquiring different animals. And that they usually end up with someone else taking care of them for the long haul. I don’t totally blame me number of rabbits on her. I take responsibility for the decisions I made. I also love my rabbits and can’t imagine not having had them. I guess Im really want to say that it is very easy to get caught up in the rabbit welfare situation and setting a limit. A big learning curve for me and I’m much better with it all now. I see it happen with other members here and others Ive met IRL and I know how it happens.

Haha, I was wondering about that! I know a few Mumma’s who are very particular about colour scheme’s. However, in the land of kids, it’s just not practical, long-term. Especially with hand-me-downs. Let me show you what I made for my niece, who is going to be 3 in December. It’s a pillow/ soft toy, but I love the randomness and bright colours. I showed it to the middle schoolers I look after and they loved the colour scheme, so I honestly think as long as you love it, it will be perfect. I did not design this pattern but what I loved about it was the quirkiness. That’s my two cents.
Hmmm… Just re-read and I realised I skipped over the part about it being a wooden toy. With wood, I kinda like to see the grain and have a nice stain with maybe a pop of pastel, but if the wood is not expensive and has no natural grain to it, I would likely choose 2 complimentary and 1 contrasting shade. I like mint, cool soft greys, tiffany blue, soft dusky pinks or lilacs, lemon. Haha, I just think I like colour, full stop ![]()
Jerseygirl, I did not know your story, so it’s nice learning about all your bunnies. I kinda also thought you did fostering as a thing. I know what you mean about being drawn into unhealthy friendships. That’s pretty toxic. Especially when people know you’re a bleeding heart. It’s overwhelming to see so many abused and sick animals, but I just keep thinking about how I’ve probably helped save two animals for every one of my babies. That’s the best way to look at it. At least you figured out that persons behaviour eventually, and those rabbits were so lucky to have you as their mumma. So many rabbit peeps put themselves last, and they need to employ self-care to keep this good thing (rabbit ownership) going. I saw a post on here once, and I thought it was a great idea. What you can’t do for all, you do for one. I think that is a quote from someone that I’ve butchered, but even if I’ve butchered it, I think it makes sense.
That is cute L4B! I love the single tooth.
You’re pretty well on the money re that friendship. I did meet some other bunny people through her though, at least. We all still have contact with each other but none of them with her, so that tells you something. She pretty much ditches people for new people.
Im not one who needs a lot of friends tbh. I mean, I have friends but we don’t need to be in each others pockets all the time. Im happy on my own most of the time and I come from a large family. So when I need a heart to heart, life advice etc, there is always my family. Or binky bunny.
For me, the learning curve with rabbits was steep. I got one spontaneously and had to learn fast. With that came an awareness of how often they are discarded, mistreated and overbred. So I definitely was pulled into that strongly.
I think I know the quote you are thinking of. Or at least, one like it. The story of the boy and the starfish?
@LBJ, do her parents have a sports team they are mad about? You could always do those colours, assuming they’ll want their daughter to become a mad fan of that team also.
A little about a non-toxic friendship, this friend who owns the rabbits I am looking after is a huge animal lover. Allergic to most but that’s something she just deals with. She is so good with enrichment for all her pets. It really is inspiring (read: gives me a kick in the butt about doing better for mine). She is also super organised. She potted up herbs, edible weeds and grasses for her rabbits in advance so she could bring these all over to my place. I already have a yard full of weeds but she wasn;t to know.
Plus, she wants her guys having what they are used to. So all I have to do is plonk a pot of food in their pens for a bit and they free graze on it.

p.s. Sorry I’ve spammed the chat thread so much this last 24hrs!
The tooth is my fave part of the monster! I can definitely relate to being part of a close family who I share with. Yes, she sounds unhappy. Sounds like she’s trying to get her needs met by manipulating people, and people who do that are in self-preservation mode, whether they realise it or not. You never see the real them because they just use others and move on, generally, out of hurt and fear.
Oh my gosh, this morning I saw a video on FB of a dog named Nera who was severely abused by her “owner”. I saw disturbing footage of a man hurting her (I won’t say what, because it may disturb some BB readers). In Australia, they were saying that they are trying to have animal abusers register (much like sex offenders), so they don’t ever get to own animals again, in the worst cases. Not too long before a person takes it out on another person. Unbelievable. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I think I went into some sort of minor shock as I’m not used to this sort of thing.

I wont look it up. I can’t handle that sort of thing.
On a side note; was he filming this or someone just standing by filming this? It’s unbelievable some of the stuff that gets filmed these days, and what we are exposed to because these get shared online.
JG, what a great idea with the potted plants. So awesome. Some people have such a knack for being organised, and are quick thinkers who execute well. I execute well, but that’s about it! Gosh, of you’re spamming, I’m your fellow spamming buddy.

I think a neighbour was filming it from next door, because you could only see some of it. I’m really sensitive, so I don’t know what made me think I wouldn’t see anything disturbing. Kind of a catch 22 because I’m assuming they need proof of abuse to prosecute. This guy was ordered to take anger management classes, but they should’ve locked him up and set a HIGH bail.
Mmm… I think I would have been calling the police. Or yelling at him – not clever, i know. Then I would have been making plans to steal that dog. Also not clever, I know. He would just get another right. Ugh.
Ill be back soon spam buddy! It’s dinnertime for the bunnies and myself. I think Im going to get myself a spud with curried veg and lentils.
Jersey. I said 8 buns because you said if you stole Zou whilst I was here in London that wld make it to 9 !!!

That sounds really yum.
I opted for a tuna one in the end.
Got a serve the curried veg/lentils for tomorrow. Both equally yummy.

Ah true. I did say that! But I was counting my 3 guests. Zou says Hi btw. She’s enjoying the Aussie oat hay but says French dandelions are the best in the world. ![]()

Ben, Zou is Vienna’s bunny =)
Yohio isn’t well. I suspect his teeth. I’ve syringed him eveything syringeable. But he just sits there. My darling boy.
Poor Yohio
eating vibes…
Thank you Gina!
Oh no! Poor Yohio. I hope he gets better soon.
Oh no, Yohio! Bunnies always get sick when the vets are closed
I hope he gets better!
{{{Yohio}}} I hope he comes good soon!
Oh no, poor Yohio.
I hope he feels better.
Wooly seemed off this morning. He didn’t come for naners like he usually does. I picked him up and did tummy rubs while he sat in my lap. He felt a little gassy, but I didn’t want to torment him with simethicone just yet. He told me when he had had enough and I put him back in his room. I offered him banana again. He thumped and turned his nose up. Then I offered him some apple and he took that. So I think he’s okay. Probably just a tummy ache.
About the colors. These are dyes, not paint, so it might limit me a bit. I do like just having finished wood for part of it. Like maybe have the head and wheels finished wood and colors on the segments. And yes, my sister-in-law was very picky in the beginning for color schemes. But she got a giant box of clothes from someone at work and the whole color scheme thing sort of disappeared.
{{{Vibes}}} for Mr Wooly !
Many many vibes for Wooly!
Yohio. Come on mate. You’re worrying your mum and her friends…. ((( Yohio )))
I just went in their room to vacuum and there was the biggest mushy cecal I had ever seen on the floor. O_O Poor Wooly. It’s hard to imagine that coming out of his butt. This confirms that he was having tummy troubles this morning though. He seems alright now, although a little annoyed that I made him move so I could vacuum where he was sitting.

Ben, you worry me sometimes !!!!! ![]()
All these bunnies getting sick
So sorry, LBJ10. I really hope Wooly recovers fast and poops normally.
Lol! Sorry Vienna!
Bad memory here ![]()
Jerseygirl, Your setup is similar to mine. I have a “rabbit room” that has a divider made from NIC panels. One pair of bunnies on each side. I put a screen door on the room because there are also free-flying cockatiels in there. The bottom of the door has a flap that the birds can’t get out of, but Guinivere and Lancelot can. Since they are not destructive, they get free reign of the back half of the house and spend a fair amount of time in my bedroom. Well actually – If Lancelot is in my room, so is Guin. She goes where he goes. I have 1 litterbox for Avalon/Morgana (destructo-bunnies), and 4 litterboxes for Guin and Lancelot in that room, another in my room, and a 6th in the guest room. I can thank Guinivere for all the litterboxes.
Hello everyone, I am new to binkybunny and just wanted to say hello. I just got my newest member of the family today, he is almost 8 weeks. And I have decided to name him gizmo, unless anyone else has any suggestions.
He was lying down just now, but got up and sprinted away the second he saw me. There were 6 misshapen poops where he was lying. I offered him some willow leaves. Nothing. So I picked one up and held it in front of his nose. He sniffed it and then took it in his mouth and then threw it at me! Then he grabbed the edge of the bowl with his mouth and gave it a good shove. o_O Okay, point taken. Well, I guess it’s simethicone time…..
Gah! Wooly! Hope he gets better ![]()
Well, he wasn’t happy about the simethicone! LOL But that’s normal. He let me rub his tummy for awhile after that. After a little while, he arched his back awkwardly and then ran away. Boy did he leave a stink cloud behind! Gross, but a good thing I suppose.

Oh no
Bam I’m so very sorry for your loss. How heartbreaking it must be. Binky free, Yohio.
Can’t believe I didn’t come online for 24 hours and there’s pages and pages of new chat thread posts.
Jersey it was good to learn more about your bunny history and how things came to be. Taking on animals in need is certainly a dilemma, and to be honest I still struggle sometimes with the fact that we decided to keep Dory. She’s cute and funny and I do care about her, but given a choice I would not have chosen her as a pet. We certainly had a choice to keep her, but after rescuing an animal, nursing them to health and waiting 3 months while looking for an owner, it’s easy to get attached and not want to give them up. And I’m not the sort take responsibility for an animal in need, and then decide we can’t keep it. Which I think for me was the main catalyst for keeping her, besides my husband wanting to keep her, I would have felt guilty rehoming her, even though there was technically no reason for me to.
Apollo and Luna are acting all kinds of crazy this afternoon, they didn’t get out at all this morning or yesterday afternoon so I think they’re expending pent up energy. It’s resulting in some chasing by Apollo and some mounting from Luna. I still can’t get a handle on that. Even if they aren’t out or don’t get out, sometimes in the morning I’ll find a tuft of Luna’s fur in the cage that Apollo has pulled out. I feel bad for her being chased, but at the same time, she does hump his face more often than she does the proper way. It’s going to stop soon, right? ![]()
Azerane: Yes, it should stop. I had the exact problem you’re having. Chasing and fur pulling both subsided with time. I experimented with leaving them fully confined for a short period of time earlier on, and this further solidified the bond. It was really only because I noticed the bond wasn’t as tight as it was in a previous room, and Thor was a jerk to my baby girl. Fur pulling happened, but now Thor indulges her requests for grooming more readily. There is hope.
Oh no bam – I’m so very very sorry. Little Yohio (io-io-io…)
Give Bam an extra hug from me, Tisha and Zou

Bam, again, so very sorry to hear about Yohio. I know it was very sudden. I was worried about you so I’m glad to see you’re here. Let us know when you’ve posted the thread. We all loved that little cutie. ![]()
I had an awful dream last night. Sharks were swimming around in the air, swooping down like birds and eating people. A bunch of people ran to an old fashioned steamboat. The kind with the open air dance floor. For some reason they thought this would be safe, no clue why. LOL Well, the sharks disappeared. Then an elephant came lumbering out of the bushes and then climbed onto the boat. You couldn’t see it at first, but once he got about halfway up to the dance floor area you could see that he didn’t have a trunk. It was just a hole there, leading into his nasal cavity. And his mouth was full of big, sharp teeth. He was wanted to eat some people too, but thankfully he wasn’t moving very fast. People were jumping off the boat.
Wow… I don’t know what I ate this time! It wasn’t tacos!
Anyway, I was very worried about Wooly. I gave him some more simethicone and attempted a tummy rub before I went to bed. He wasn’t happy with me. I put out a bunch of food, knowing Leopold would be a pig. I thought if I left out extra pellets, Leopold would get his fill and Wooly would have something to eat when he felt better. I left out willow leaves too and I made a mountain on hay in their box. I checked on him at 3am. He had moved, but wasn’t eating when I checked on him. It’s hard to know if he had eaten while I was sleeping or not. Then this morning, I checked on him. All of the pellets had disappeared and one bowl had been thrown into the hay box. Wooly was sitting in the corner and he didn’t move when I opened the curtains. I grabbed the bag of bananas. He hesitated for a second, but then joined Leopold in the mad scramble around my feet. He eagerly took a piece. I’m assuming he ate something then throughout the night. I just wish there was a better way to keep track. I don’t want to lock anyone up though. =\
OMG Bam that’s terrible I’m so sorry 🙁
Thank you, LBJ,! I’m still in chock. I need to be here because my head is driving me crazy. It’s almost 24 hours now since he crossed.
I dont have any ideas, i hope wooly gets well, we cant loose two beloved bunnies in a week ![]()
BTB – Wooly being eager for a treat this morning is a good sign. He was more or less acting normally, so I think he’s feeling better. I’m pretty sure it was gas yesterday.
LBJ, so glad to hear he’s doing better!!
Bam, again, I am very very sorry about Yohio. I have only been here for a month, but it feels like were all family, if a bun dies, we all mourn together. Yohio is binkying over rainbow bridge.
Thanks Bam. You’re so sweet, even when you’re going through an awful time yourself. I agree with Ben, we all mourn when a part of our big bunny family is lost.

Thank you so much. all of you! Q8, Yes, it does seem unreal but I’m glad all of you got to “know” him, he was a great personality. He was a BB bun from the day I found him. I’ve started working on a picture memorial for the Rainbow Bridge.
I don’t want to hijack the chat thread with this sad event, so please, chat now, all you sweet people
Chat, chat, chat! As Vienna would say!
Can I chat about how annoying Dory is? Seriously, she’s doing my head in. When Pat’s home she’ll make lots of cute noises, as soon as I get home, every 2 minutes it’s “SQUAWK… SQUAWK”. If I enter the room, she squawks, so I leave the room. But I can’t leave the room forever. So I sit in the room, quietly ignoring her. But god forbid I want to talk to hubby or the bunnies, or even her, because then it’s “SQUAWK” all over again. The problem is, if she’s being quite and I want to reward her for it, as soon as I start talking to her or I seem like I’m going to pay her attention, she squawks again. So I can’t reward her because she interrupts
And at the same time, I want to let her out because I think she’d like to come out more, but if I let her out while she’s squawking, it’s only rewarding her for squawking. I’m a bit stuck and frustrated with this one. I just want peace and quiet after work for a bit, but she is so loud, lol. I try to tell her “Good Dory” when she’s been quiet for a while, but she instantly starts squawking again. Not cool, Dory.
Oh well, the bunnies are cute and amazingly tolerant when it comes to Dory’s noises, they seem less affected by it than I am. I was somewhat concerned when I adopted them that there would be issues with the bunnies and how loud Dory can be, but it seems to be working out well and Apollo and Luna don’t seem to care much at all unless Dory does her super loud mega alarm squawks.
Are you mainly the “food lady” to her? Or does hubby give her her meals just as regularly?
I’d be doing “Dory outside time” when you get home from work.
Unfortunately yes I am mainly the food lady
I feed breakfast 95% of the time because hubby often sleeps late after being up late. Which I’m aware is probably part of the problem. Then her evening meal is probably also me 70% of the time. Hubby is more the deliverer of treats, about 80%. I would love to give her more regular outside time, it’s just a mega pain in the butt to get the cage out of the back door because of the high lip on the door frame and the fact that it can’t be wheeled on our veranda because it’s very uneven brick. So the cage has to be carried. However I do like that idea, at least with spring coming there’ll be more frequent occasions when the weather is suitable.
Also I just looked it up, apparently she can go up to 115 decibels. I am not surprised by that number ![]()
ETA: Frequent outdoor playtime would be much easier if we had the ability to put her in a smaller carry out cage. But I don’t fancy getting bitten.
Az – Well it’s obviously “feed me please; go on feed me; feed ME…. FEED. ME !!!!”
F.E.E.D. M.E. (squaaaawk) N.O.W. !!!!!!!!
as for the cage moving…. could the veranda have a section of carpet to make uneven bricks slightly more manoeuvrably friendly ? And as for the door lip… hmmm; I’m thinking a seesaw-motion trolley effort with the cage… weightwise, can you cope alone?

lol, one parrot is enough thanks very much
Some carpet section could help, not a bad idea. Will have to think on that. It is quite heavy, but one end can be lifted at a time on my own, albeit awkwardly.
Oh man… I just finished reading A Dog’s Purpose.
So. Friggin. Good.
Except I cried so much my ribs and face and head hurt now
![]()
Q8, sad stories with animals in them are unbearable. I can deal with people getting hurt, but when there are animals involved I just can’t. The title of that book + the fact that you cried is a huge red flag!
Bam, I’m so sorry.
*hugs*
Binky free, Yohio.
Azerane – is there a way to deliver the treat without you giving it to her? Like one of those treat/food dispensers on a timer?
Oh dear, Azerane, I hope you get some good tips on how to fix this problem. She seems to be extremely loud…
BTW, I shouldn’t be happy about this, but actually I am. It’s always sad if someone has to relinquish their pets, but I’m happy that it happened last week. Someone in our flat, who lives on the second floor, had 2 cats and he refused to keep them inside even after several complaints. They couldn’t get in and out on their own, he took them in and out by dropping a basket on a rope. The poor things were outdoors at all times in all weathers.
One of them was also extremely bold, climbing into other peoples’ houses through open windows and doors. He’s been here in my apartment at least 3 times, because I live on the ground floor. My neighbours’ bird was used as a plaything, when they got back home the bird was ripped to shreds and spread out through the living room. I also lived in constant fear for Breintje, we had to check him all the time when a window was open. Sad for the cats, but I hope they’ll come to live with a more responsible owner. You don’t have a pet to neglect it and to let it cause havoc in the neighbourhood. I wish more cat-owners were aware of this: they’re still predators… Think of other peoples’pets as well please…

I liked a Dog’s Purpose, just found it hard to connect with the characters because well, you know.
If you liked that, try reading The Art of Racing In The Rain. It’s one of my favourites. Also the Dog On It / Chet & Bernie series, private investigator series with the dog telling the story ![]()
Ellie, how awful with the cats and the bird. What a terrible cat-owner! Cats are more or less allowed to roam free here (it’s very difficult to prove that a specific cat did sth, so the law is of little use), but if you live in an apt you must have netting all around the top of your balcony so the cat can’t fall out. More cats than you’d think get hurt/killed by falling from balconies. The netting also of course protects the neighbors pets.
Tonight me and mum and Bam watched the first episode of Downton Abbey -for the fifth time or so. Bam loves that series. He sat in my mother’s lap the whole episode and it felt so unkind to wake him up and put him back on the floor after.
Bam, I am sorry I didn’t see your post about Yohio’s passing earlier. I am so sorry for your loss.
How sweet that Bam will sit in your mom’s lap to watch Downton Abbey.
Odette, thank you.
Bam is never happier than at my mother’s house. He jumps into her lap himself.
My dog also loves my mother. They both think they really ought to be her pets instead of mine. She has that effect on animals.
Ahh that would be the hyponotic, dulcet tones of Charles Carson, AKA Jim Carter that set Bam off.
Bam, is your Mum as fluent in English as you so wonderfully are? Are you both able to watch Downton in VO without subtitles?
That’s awesome. Some people have that gift. Maybe there is a gentleness to them.
My mom has a loud voice and I have a soft voice. But Mom brings treats and toys and excitement, so Odette will come running when she hears mom’s voice. She isn’t yet letting her hold her, but she lets her pet her as long as she isn’t loud. They’re cute together with mom trying to be quiet and Odette growing braver around her.
All of my pets have loved my parents. My dog and cat both loved them. The buns love them, but only because they watch them for a week and somehow go through an entire bag of treats…
Ellie: That’s horrible! I know tons of people let their cats loose outside (which i disagree with), but I can’t believe these cats actually climb into people’s homes, that’s crazy. And so sad what happened to the poor bird. I would have sued that guy’s butt off if his cats did something to my pet! It’s incredible how irresponsible some people are. ![]()
Our neighbor regularly traps cats in his yard and calls animal control to pick them up. He said they refuse to take cats that have a collar though, which seems weird to me.
If there was a loose dog, I’m sure they would pick it up, collar or no collar?
Hazel – With no leash law for cats, animal control will only pick up cats that are “obvious” strays. Having a collar means someone is caring for them. Dogs, on the other hand, are not allowed to run at large. So any dog picked up by animal control will go to doggie jail (collar or not). Having a collar or microchip simply means you’ll get your dog back.
LBJ, that makes sense. Although it sure seems frustrating that this keeps them from dealing with certain nuisance animals. I sure wish there were leash laws for cats.
Mine is an outdoor cat – all neighbours’ are outside cats.
Unless you have a very expensive or gorgeous cat worth stealing (Mozza !!), no cats are kept inside unless they don’t have a garden (appartments…)
Ironically Tisha since becoming ill and who needs to be kept a close eye on, has now become a “leash cat”, wistfully looking up onto the walls and roofs of houses to go explore ![]()
my neighbor has about 7 cats….they all our outside….
They have ripped open my trash bags, knocked over my recycling bins and torment the dogs up and down the block.
The other day I had Walker outside and we were playing fetch….one of the cats strolled into our back yard and Walker proceeded to chase it back onto it’s own property. My neighbor had the guts to come out yelling at me telling me I better learn to respect her property and her pets! She said I better get control of my “BEAST” and that she would call animal control the next time she saw Walker chasing her cat!!!!
****the sad thing is that animal control would come out and give me a notice and a fine….but they won’t do anything about her cats…they tell me I have to “secure” my trash better. the laws are lopsided….
Having grown up with indoor/outdoor cats, and seeing what can happen, it’s a no brainer for me to want to keep cats only indoors, No cat of mine will ever be out unless it’s in a cat run or on leash. Not only is it the responsible decision based on native wildlife, but it’s also so much safer for the cat. My brother’s cat was hit by two cars and bitten by a venomous snake, my cat got into fights all the time which sometimes resulted in infections/abscesses and also injured his leg outside which resulted in him being put down.
Why risk so many dangers. I think what so many I’ll call “normal” people (as opposed to truly pet loving people) like about cats is that when they’re being annoying or noisy, you can just put them outside and they’ll go and do their own thing.
There was recently a big thing here when an owner of some semi-rural property with native habitat on it shot one of his neighbours cats. The situation was that he was concerned about the wildlife on his property, he had asked his neighbours multiple times to keep the cats off his land, the cat wasn’t wearing a collar, had gone on to his property multiple times that week already, he had a gun licence and was within his rights to use the gun on his property. It’s a horrible situation and I would be horrified if someone shot my cat, but the conservationist in me can see he has a valid point. There was a roaming cat that was a threat to native wildlife. He ended up with a several hundred dollar fine I believe.
The laws about cats and dogs seem to be the same here. Really unfair.
Me and mum and Bam and Effi just watched 2 episodes of Downton Abbey. Bam admires Carson, of course (who doesn’t?), but his favorite is the dowager countess (Maggie Smith). She disapproves almost as fiercely as a rabbit.

I better not let Mozza know you said that, his head will get even bigger!
Poor sweet Tisha. It’s nice that she gets to go outside though, even if on a leash. I’m sure she still loves it, even if she tries to make you feel bad for not letting her climb all over the place. ![]()
LFB: Wow, your neighbor sounds like a piece of work… I find it funny that she calls Walker a “beast” (which he isn’t of course), but at the same time doesn’t find it necessary to keep her cats safely indoors, away from him…
It’s ridiculous that you would be the one getting in trouble with AC when she’s the one not controlling her animals. We have a lot of loose cats around here, luckily they can’t get into our trash, but I always find their little paw prints on top of the trash cans. What annoys me most is the pee and poop. I’m tired of everything in my driveway/patio getting sprayed with urine, and stepping in poop while cutting the grass. Makes me wanna do the same as our neighbor and let animal control take them, but in the end I couldn’t do that, since they might end up being put down. It’s not the cat’s fault, after all.
Azerane: Yeah, I’m sure many people like the convenience of letting their cat go outside to do what they want, and use the potty. But like you said, it’s not worth the risk of your cat getting hurt. And I think keeping them inside (or on a leash) is the considerate thing to do if you have neighbors close by.
Whats wrong with letting cats roam and hunt outside? Rye, my Norwegian forest cat, would rather die than be an indoor cat. she comes in to eat, sleep, and cuddle, then goes back outside all night.
ReeseBun – It’s something that has been debated for a long time. People argue for leash laws for cats because many cats do not stay on their owner’s property. They go onto neighboring properties and can become a nuisance. Roaming cats can kill wildlife, cause property damage, use “inappropriate” areas as a litter box, etc. Others argue that cats running around loose outside are at high risk of being injured or killed. There are, after all, many dangers outside. Cars, wild animals, other cats, places to get stuck or trapped, etc. On the other side of the argument, there is a norm surrounding the idea that cats should be allowed to roam. In many communities, it has been that way for a long time so people don’t want to change it. Many also believe it is torture to keep a cat indoors and cats used to going out can become quite annoying if they suddenly find themselves “trapped” in the house.
My parents have been plagued by a massive neighbourhood cat who comes and does its business on their back porch right outside the sliding glass door (so gross), leaves burn spots on the lawn, and kills but doesn’t eat the birds and bunnies my parents shelter in their massive back yard. They’ve asked the owner to control it better repeatedly but he’s a sphincter so it was a no go and the animal control peeps say that the rubbish must be attracting it (even though it’s in sealed bags which are in sealed and locked bins in a locked shed between pickups). Even the fat raccoon family living in the back thicket is afraid of this beast, who hisses at my mom every time it’s caught in the act.
Kuwait is crawling with feral cats. Some groups do catch and sterilize campaigns, and the government puts poison powder in the rubbish bins once in a while to cull them (they subsist on the rubbish everywhere) but they’re too many to really notice a difference. They are diseased and leave poo everywhere which dries quickly and gets blown around as dust for all of us hoomans to breathe in. Same goes for the pigeons that overrun this place (since the cats don’t eat them) – they carry some gnarly parasites and their poo joins the lovely breathable dust – and then people here are always surprised whenever there’s a strange epidemic of respiratory something or other after a particularly windy period.
Bam: I would love to have Carson in charge of my life.
He’s so dignified and proper and lovely.
I see a lot of cats at the shelter I frequent (how I ended up with my brood!), and a lot of times, unspayed/ unneutered roaming cats breed and people leave a box of kittens at the shelter door. I see it so many times because I share posts like that on FB. And that is just from one shelter. Someone I know leaves their cat outside only and feeds it, and the poor thing is matted and lives a feral life. I’m allergic to cats, but even I wish I could take him home. For those reasons, I think overall, it’s best to keep cats inside. I believe animals should have the freedom to be outside but so many kittens are unspayed and go on to have babies of their own. And then people abandon them.
Happy to report that I’ve had continued success with herding Thor in our backyard. He and I seem to be coming to an unspoken agreement (Mum is the Big Boss), so even though he whines, he cooperates, and he gets lots of kisses, treats, and ear rubs for doing so. And he ices me out less, haha. Miss Crysta is starting to pick up some of Thors behaviours, but she still allows me access to her, which I am grateful for. Bunnies are so much like teenagers.
I’m trying to eat healthy. I made chicken pesto zuchini noodles with toasted almonds and parmesan (the good kind of pesto & parmesan, which made all the difference). I’ve never spiralised vege’s before but they came out good and I am proud of my efforts, since everything that’s not a curry turns out… half baked. I can only cook Indian food without a glitch. Beware the plastic spiralizers. I returned the handheld pencil-sharpener one because the little spikes fell of and I nearly ate them!

Whats wrong with letting cats roam and hunt outside? Rye, my Norwegian forest cat, would rather die than be an indoor cat. she comes in to eat, sleep, and cuddle, then goes back outside all night.
While it’s seen as the norm, and for me growing up it was certainly just what you did and seemed normal to me. But not only is it dangerous for the cat; think diseases spread by fighting or mating, accidents with cars, chased by dogs, attacked by people who don’t like cats (more common than you think), snakes, fights with possums/raccoons etc. There is also the huge detriment to wildlife. Songbirds are thought to suffer the most from cats, in my opinion native wildlife should not have to suffer just because I want to own a cat. While it may be natural for a cat to hunt and kill, it is completely unnecessary in a domestic setting, and owners need to take responsibility of their pets and take responsibility for the action of their pets. Which includes defecating on other people’s lawns, roaming, and killing wildlife. In my opinion it’s unacceptable. You don’t just let your dog wander the streets killing small animals when it wants to, so why should it be any different with cats. But aside from all of that, I couldn’t risk the safety of a beloved pet when so many accidents, injuries and illnesses can be prevented just by keeping them indoors. If they love the outdoors, there’s always cat runs and leash training. I keep my bunnies and parrot indoors because it’s safer for them, so it’s just as good a reason for keeping a cat indoors too ![]()
L4B: That looks so delicious!
I literally just finished breakfast and my tummy’s growling at the sight of your meal. lol
Aw, thanks Q8. I’m happy to say, it tastes as good as it looks. I’ve made a few picture-perfect meals in my day that look good… and that’s it, hahha.
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day (I tend to enjoy it as “brunch” cos I’m not yet a morning person).
I do miss Mum’s dhal puri’s. Especially for breakfast with a good cuppa. Right now, I’m settling down to a nice cup of darjeeling (made the Aussie/Pom way) and The Hobbit. I prefer the LOTR, but I can practically recite script, so I figured it’s good to broaden my horizons (only a tad).
Oh my goodness, I missed the photos of your food. It looks amazing!
We had a smorgasboard on Saturday night for my dad’s partner’s 60th. Boy did I eat way too much food. But it was all so amazing and delicious (and free)! I would do it all again in a heartbeat, lol.
Thanks, Azerane
I love a good b’day bash. Sounds like you had a lotta fun chowing down!
Okay, so is it just me, or do other people love the scent of their doggies? Beary & Lovely smell like corn chips a week after their bath, haha. It’s the most comforting thing after a stressful day. TMI?

Too late![]()

@ L4B That food looks yum! I forgot all about making zoodles. I was given one of those tube style spiralisers as a gift and honestly, it’s too much hard work.
My hand cramps badly when I used it. I picked up a julienne peeler like this instead. A lot faster and easy to use. Your new toy looks like a mini version of those apple machines.
So what makes bad pesto vs good pesto in your opinion?
Thanks, JG! I’m sorry to hear that it hasn’t worked out for you. The one I got is easy to turn. It came from the UK and took a week to ship. Oh, yes, I have one of those peelers. They are great. I nearly cut my fingers, they are so sharp! I have to use a fork to hold down the food when I use that one. Yes this ICO trading co. spiraliser, is very similar to an apple slicing machine, and I think you might even be able to use it as an apple slicer by removing the attachment. The reason I went to all the trouble of finding this metal spiraliser is because I got this one:
and 2 plastic spikes fell in my food. There were lots of unusable potato scraps, and it took me about 45mins to make hash browns. I was all, “forget it!!”. So I took it back. But it worked well. It also hurt my hand.
Hmm, I am no pesto expert BUT I have super-sayan senses (hearing, smell, tastebuds). I was too lazy to make my pesto, so purchased an imported pesto from Italy. The brand is Delallo. It’s “all natural, no sulfites”. Normally I buy the best value one, but am ALWAYS unhappy with the results. My chicken and fish dishes are super oily and the flavour is nil. I almost gave up on eating pesto again, I thought they all were that bad in the US. I think good pesto is drier and not as oily. This one contained two cheeses – pecorino and another cheese, as well as sweet basil. It was thicker in consistency and tasted saltier than regular pesto. I didn’t feel sluggish or heavy after eating this pesto.
Just thought I’d let you all know I’m not dead lol. =P
I’m just extremely busy, and am generally too physically and emotionally exhausted to find time to post *sigh*… But hi! *waves*
What have I missed? ![]()
Hey Moxie! *waves back* I was wondering about you! Hope you’re at least looking after yourself.
I’ll have to appeal to VB to give you a summary of what’s been happening on BB. ![]()
Hi Moxie!!! Yes, Vienna is the official update person. ![]()
Hi, Moxie
I wajust wondering where you were the other day.
Moxie, I hope you remember what I told you: living life to the fullest is great – as long as you look after yourself first and don’t spread yourself too thin. Buns against burnout! Buns against burnout! ![]()
Someone recommended a show to me and I’m enjoying it so far: Da Vinci’s Demons. It aired on Starz for three seasons. Anyone else know it?
In the meantime I’m having the biggest problem to keep Breintje cool. We’re in the last day of a week-long heatwave. My house is facing north-east, so it’s always pretty cold. But after a week even our indoor temperature has gone up to 24 °C this morning. Breintje was laying flat and breathing quickly. He refused to lay down on a damp towel, dislikes frozen water bottles, ran away from the blowing fan, hates getting his ears misted and continues to find the warmest spots he could find. Hiding in his box, in his shredded paper box, and even laying flat in his bunny toilet… Do I have one of those suicide bunnies, just like in that comic???
Eventually I fished him out of his litter box, and took him to the stone floor in our bathroom. I put a wet towel on the floor and stretched him out. He was kicking and protesting, but petting him eventually calmed him down. When he stopped panting I let him into the living room again, where he continues to avoid the damp towel. At least he’s eating a few slices of fruit from the refridgerator now.
Boy, you’re a handful… I wonder what will happen if we ever move to a house which will be even warmer in summer…
Yeah, I’ve definitely been very busy! I’ll try to keep up with you all more! ![]()
How about a damp towel draped over the fan?
Ugh, I’m so tired. I had to get up early to go to this tour in another city. We had to drive there so we had to leave early this morning. The tour was SO boring and I felt a bit cheated at lunch (they didn’t give us much to eat).
Well, whatdya know, I’m not sure what to say in the “update post”…. it all seems so far away yet so close….
First off very sad news and goodbyes to Yohio, our very own bam’s little baby, taken suddenly. I know that he knew he was the luckiest bun to have been saved, rescued, loved and pampered by bam.
Also, not sure if it happened before or after, but Grimm couldn’t stand up to a terrible infection in his amputated leg and said goodbye too.
On a more happy note my Tisha is still going strong. I put that down to the fact that I stuff as much liquid food as I can down her to keep her energy up. When she has her antidepressant once every 3 days it’s like having a kitten in the house. She is losing more and more fur from her neck, chest and front legs and looks like a cross between a Sphynx Cat and Gollum !
Sage is growing and expanding and exploring and becoming a beautiful beast.
We are helping Barrett with his coutdown to GOTYA day (tomorrow!!!) when he and his menagerie (sorry, hooman family!! lol) go fetch Patton zee head and put him in zee transport cage which doubles as a child’s ‘time out’ box when they’re naughty.
New scottish/usa member JNg has found out that buns can cause ££$$£ damage, but are (alomost) worth every penny.
BB members experienced going under the English channel (glug glug glug) when Vienna and Tisha posted from beneath the fathoms when travelling to the UK.
Oscar’s solo party got bunnymobbed by 2 fearless feline bouncers, headed by Mozza, and Oscar hasn’t been seen since…
A debate (shouting and huffing and uummmming doesn’t come across with typed words, phewie) was had whether cats should be keep inside or outside.
The 2 opposing parties will never be in agreement and have silently agreed to not bring the subject up again.
Angora rabbit breeding (for fur) in France made headlines yesterday, not in a good way.
Lancelot still having bladder problems and Vanessa has got bunnybutt nappy wrapping down to an art.
Reesebun’s photo competition thread took off in a big way and some ridiculous (Thor flopping on Crysta) but cute (Resse yawning!) photos are being posted.
We discovered that simply ALL Australians in their red land spend all day, every day surfing, SCUBA diviing and saying “Gday Sheila. Stick a prawn on the barbie, will ya love”!
GinaJenny increased her bunny family to SIX and has disappeared temporarily as she prepares her offspring for uni. She’ll be back when they’ve flown the nest. I suspect the extra furry creatures will help with the boy-sized-holes that will be left in her home.
And to finish off, we all remember every day how the BB family keeps us company whenever we need it (just log on), supports us when things are going bad and makes us laugh like donkeys on weed as everyone share jokes, anecdotes, daily mishaps and things that our bunnies & children have been up to.
Ta daaaaa
(Please feel free to add if I’ve missed a major moment in last month’s goings ons.)
Who ARE you, Vienna, and WHO are your people?!
Jeez Louise, that was a lot of info! I can see why you do updates.
What tour are you doing, LBJ10?
Relaxing on the couch on a Friday night, watching the Pride and Prejudice movie, the one with Keira Knightley. Been a long time since I watched the movie because I much prefer the mini series with Colin Firth from the 90’s. Still fun to watch though, I just love how cheeky it is at times.
That’s it. I’m moving to Australia. ![]()
Q8 – You know that you can watch films in Kuwait on a couch on a Friday night ?!! LOL
I’m three chapters away from beating Uncharted 2 so I decided to take a break from gaming to make it last longer. LOL
So instead I’ve been gorging myself on Da Vinci’s Demons Season 2 all day, doing absolutely nothing more productive than dishing out a bowl of stew before reclaiming my indentation in the sofa. ![]()

lol, nothing like that welcome groove on the couch, perfectly moulded to the shape of one’s buttocks. ![]()
Y’all all need new couches!

I just finished watching this 3 days ago, Azerane. Colin Firth has lost so much weight! He looks so much better filled out. Also, I do prefer the Mum from the Keira version because I think she better portrays the character. The mum in the mini-series yells all the time and is too overt to be believeable. Brenda Blethyn is such a good actress.
Colin Firth makes me melt. Not enough to watch the third Bridget Jones at the theater, but almost.
I’m home with a broken forefoot and four broken toes. I slept off the pain med on the couch. My girl is too little to jump on the couch, but she sat on the floor right below my head while I slept. I know I’m a terrible human for this, but I gave her an extra barley treat as a thank you.
Odette – OUCH !!!! How did you do that ? – I broke 2 toes and that was “ouch” enough…. poor thing.
Why are you a terrible human letting your bunny sleep ?
You’ve forgotten the Colin Firth of Mamma Mia !! LOL He had the shirt scene at the end again !! LOL ![]()
![]()
Vienna Blue, sorry, the pain meds aren’t helping my clarity! I meant I was a bad person for giving Odette an extra treat. She was just so sweet sleeping on the floor beside me.
I jumped out of the car in a pair of flip flops and landed on my pinky toe. The foot went out from under me. It rebroke along an earlier break, so it didn’t take much. Just a silly thing ![]()
Ahhhh the spiral fracture of the pinky.!!!
Soooo much more common than one would think…. that’s what I had (or 4th and 5th!) and when I was waiting to be plastered (hic!) everyone had the same thing almost – a very common injury when you miss the last step of the stairs, or imagine that the bus step is lower than it actually is (or jump out of the car…!! what do you have, a Range Rover?!!).
I “fall” out rather than “jump” out !!…. :blnk: ![]()
You’re going to laugh…a Chevy Malibu.
I left a soft drink on the back of the car and didn’t notice until I stopped at a red light. I jumped out to get the drink so it wouldn’t hit the car behind me.
Mamma Mia! Now there’s an hour and a half of my life I’ll never get back, lol.
So sorry to hear, Odette! Get well soon!
Azerane, I hear ya! *fist bump*
Get well soon Odette! <3333 May the power of dry ice and sweet sweet painkillers be with you!
ps. I just cleaned the bun’s butt glands for the first time (he never needed it… guess he got lazy with summer)
… =.= we both need a drink, it was nervebreaking lol
Hope your foot heals quickly Odette.
Muchelle, those scent glands are pretty powerful, fortunately I’ve never had to clean out any.
Bought some new veg for the bunns today, they get to try out fennel this week (they’re already on cos/romaine lettuce and bok choy (with occasional dandelion leaves/flowers and fresh grass). I’m hoping it lasts in the fridge, everything I’m reading says it doesn’t often keep long, which is a pain when you can only introduce it slowly.
Thanks!
Good excuse to have a Colin Firth movie marathon this weekend. Not that I need an excuse ![]()
Vienna does the BEST updates.
L4B – It was a green infrastructure (stormwater) tour.
Yowa Odette! ![]()
Odette: I feel your pain (I used to dance on pointe and have broken a number of bones in various mishaps)
Feel better soon. But I must ask: how did your drink even make it as far as the red light? LOL
Azerane: I found that fennel lasts longer if wrapped in newspaper and kept cool, not very cold.
Odette, I was totally expecting you to say the injury was from skateboarding! ![]()
Q8bunny, that’s a mystery! We were on a service road merging onto the interstate, so the speed wasn’t high. But still pretty wild. I did ballet too and still do plié squats– you pay for it later for sure. Worth it though. I think
Jerseygirl, I think the orthopedist was too! He treated me last time. When I was cleared for activity last break, I asked if I could skate. I think it took all his strength not to roll his eyes at me!
Odette, I’m sorry about your toe! I’ve never broken a toe, just my right fibula a couple of years back. It doesn’t take much if you land awkwardly.
My niece (13) had recently started her Pointe classes, and she injured her foot……doing a cartwheel in her bedroom and hitting some furniture.
She had to miss some ballet classes. ![]()
Pfff… youngsters… ![]()
LBJ10, that stormwater tour sounds… riveting, haha.
Hubby broke his pinky a while back. Nothing so fancy as ballet, or normal like a trip. He was playing chase with Beary and ran foot-first, into the chair leg. Stay classy, San Diego.
Odette – just hecking out the Chevy Malibu 2016 on Googe *whiiiiiiistles*
Nice car – looks like a beemer from a distance…. but not sure how you can trip up getting out… LOL Unless you’re a dwarf (sorry, “little person”)
Bam, that is one bone I haven’t broken! A fibula fracture sounds like a difficult heal.
Jerseygirl, I bet she was disappointed. Its so exciting to start pointe. I hope she is doing ok and healing well. I still can’t do a cartwheel– I’m guessing its not going to happen at my age!
Love4Bunny, that sounds like me. If your husband is anything like me, the chair attacked him
Vienna, I jumped out of the seat running…briefly…then down! I’m 5’5″/165 cm, so I am on the shorter end of average. The doctor thinks the bones were weak along that previous break. I think that was his nice way of saying (without actually saying) “you’re a klutz…and I’m not clearing you to skate this time.” But he will. ![]()
A double tib/fin fracture is (apparentyl) one of the most painful (after femur) – ouch.
I thought bones were strong where a previous fracture had been as the ‘new’calcium builds up and makes it extra strong – but I suppose the bits at each side of the extra strong areas would therefore become relatively weak….
Anyhoo, sorry it happened, that’s life and “Pat” (Pattonzeehead) will be with us soon.
![]()
I have no idea, Vienna. I don’t think I really let the break last year heal well. But, it could well just be a wild coincidence. No big deal.
Hopefully Barrett won’t make us wait too long for photos. I know they have a 10 hr round trip drive, but we need Patton pics ![]()
Jersey- Several years ago I severely sprained my neck on the first day of dance class. My neck was wrapped and I was on pain medicine, but I was still determined to show up. ![]()
I refuse to believe we have crept into the second half of September already!
And there’s less than 100 days until Christmas now. My word!
![]()
Thanks for the tip on storing the fennel Q8.
Just got back from a wedding, hour drive each way. Beautiful and wonderful and happy to see them so happy, but I’m exhausted and I have to be up at about 5am tomorrow so I can head out and do bird surveys. I would have planned to do them this morning if I’d known the weather was going to be so perfect for it. Nevermind.
L4B – Well, it would have helped if half of the projects weren’t incomplete. LOL We were on two tour buses too so it took forever to load people on and off the buses at each stop.
Just made lemon meringue cupcakes (everything completely from scratch), it took a while, but I’m glad it’s done! I felt a strong urge for baking all of the sudden and had to get it out of my system lol.
I probably won’t eat any though since I’m trying to eat healthy. ![]()

L4B – Well, it would have helped if half of the projects weren’t incomplete. LOL We were on two tour buses too so it took forever to load people on and off the buses at each stop.
I dislike dealing with so many people cramped on little buses. Not my thing at all. I did that for many years in the Aussie rail and bus system, and although I miss Oz, I do not miss cramped spaces with people with bad B.O. But perhaps yours wasn’t that bad. Was it a work thing or a day out thing?
I can picture an imaginary tour guide, “And here is… uh.. Whoops. We forgot to finish that one”.
![]()
L4B – It was for work. They were pretty large tour buses. I think they held 50 passengers each. But yes, there was a lot of “we were hoping this would be done in time for the tour, but this is what it will look like when it’s complete…” *holds up picture of rendering*
I just felt like it wasn’t worth our time. I mean, I know what all of that stuff is and it isn’t all that interesting looking at mud and dirt.
Moxie, I hope you made enough for everyone. ![]()
*sigh* We stopped in at the humane society today. They had 4 bunnies (which is a lot for them). They were all so cute. I felt bad because a little black Polish-esque bunny was sitting in a cage away from the others. His sheet said “No Children” and “Reason For Surrender: Previous owners reported that the rabbit bit their daughter in the face”. Poor thing. I’m sure that there was more to the story than that. =\
That is sad, LBJ10. Last saturday, I went to a local country fair (quite large, actually), and I don’t know what possessed me but I visited the small animal section. Well, aside from geese, ducks and chickens, they had 4H rabbits. Some were crammed, 3 or less, in small cages and at least 2 other rabbits had noticeable eye infections with weepiness and missing fur (separate owners). They were clearly sick. It upset me so. I just walked out, kinda shaking my head at the cruelty. They brought a mother with her 4 kits. And with another rabbit, I overheard an older man exclaim, “That rabbit bit me!”, and I felt like saying, “Well, what did you expect?”. So sad.
L4B, is there any way you could send an e-mail to the local 4H group voicing your concerns about the health and conditions of the animals. Nothing will change if no one complains.
Apollo is so fussy with his veggies. I know he wants to eat them, but for some reason I think he doesn’t like the smell of them. He won’t eat them from my hand, and even on the ground or a plate, he’ll spend 5 minutes sniffing them before trying anything, during which time Luna will have eaten half the plate, lol.

L4B, is there any way you could send an e-mail to the local 4H group voicing your concerns about the health and conditions of the animals. Nothing will change if no one complains.
That’s a good idea. I didn’t realise I was allowed to do that. I will look into it.
I agree, you should formally complain. At the very least, they will put on notice that people are not happy with seeing rabbits in such condition. I don’t like animals on display at fairs. They require that animals stay for several days because these competitions last for days. Ridiculous. People should be required to take their animal there, show them for a couple of hours, and be done with it. Take them home. For some people though, they come from hours away to attend the fair and they camp out for the entire time. I just can’t imagine leaving a rabbit in a crate like that for a week or more. =\
4H has regulations. That’s one of the points of children raising animals–to properly care for them and house them. I’ve mentioned before how much I dislike 4H, but I do believe they’ll address any issues of neglect if you contact them.
When I came here, I mentioned Odette and I found each other at the right time for both of us. She was being sold for 4H that weekend. I’m so glad she came here instead.
It sounds that many of us feel this way. I also agree that 4H has regulations, and believe they would address complaints. I also don’t go to the small animal section at fairs. Earlier this year I saw rabbits at a sheep and wool fair. I tried not to look. Small cages, wire floor, nothing cuddly for the rabbits, no food for them to graze on, no water crock, loud, noisy, no fun.
I think the treatment from rabbits at fairs stems from the way they are judged. Must be well groomed, nothing stuck in fur, no wet fur, no poop or pee stains etc. So because of that and to avoid those things, what is provided for the rabbits is minimal/no food and a wire bottomed cage so that they can’t sit in their waste.. I also believe many rabbit clubs have maximum sizes for show cages because they need to fit lots of rabbits on the tables. I think it looks bad because they’re in cages but if you compare it to dog shows, the dogs often have as much space as the rabbits but it seems as if they have more because they’re not caged. A short time in a small show cage isn’t going to hurt a bunny, although I agree it’s tough to look at. The absence of food and water does concern me though.
Also this is probably a no no-brainer, but I have the option to take the bunnies to a club for super cheap vaccination, or heading to the vet to get it done. My only concern is that I’m super paranoid about the new RHDV strain so worry that going to the club and being around those other bunnies is just asking for trouble. Again on the other hand, the group is run by a rescue and I’m sure they’d be happy to see how the buns are doing since I adopted them, plus the saving money thing ![]()
I know virtually nothing about 4H. I understand that breeders have a different philosophy to rescuers, and while I hate small cages, I was so disgusted that they would bring sick rabbits to the fair. I have a good eye and intuition, so I know both bunnies were not 100%. Thanks for the information, guys.
Azerane – Yes, I think they should rethink the entire process. Judging should not be a long, drawn out process and who cares if a bunny has so hay stuck in their fur, etc. It seems so silly and petty in this modern time we live in where people actually care about the welfare of animals.

![]()
I shoud go to bed. I just read, “club” and “vacation” in that sentence !!!!
![]()
Our internet is so slow. It’s killing me! ![]()
Just got back from getting the bunnies vaccinated. Went with the cheaper option of getting them vaccinated at the club. Arrived early so I was the first one there
Both bunnies jabbed for $30, can’t beat that. At my vet it was $75 each, because they include the standard consult/health check and they won’t vaccinate without doing that. Probably partly duty of care I suppose. The bunnies were very displeased and made a complete pee mess of the carrier, whether it was bad timing or bunnies that pee their pants when scared of car rides, I’m not sure. Now they’re hoovering pellets like it’s their last meal ever. A fresh fleece in the bottom level of the condo, now to get some fresh hay. I’m such a slave to their needs ![]()
Azerane, it’s a hard-knock life, being a bunny-slave
Never a moment’s rest. Cinderelly! Cinderelly!
Az. Nicely done !!! ![]()
Yes, once a bunny slave, always a bunny slave.
Bunnies were both doing well this morning, no side effects from the vaccine which is good. I’m going to need a different carrier for them, one with a top opening because trying to get them out and control two bunnies with a front opening carrier is a nightmare, lol ![]()
Uh, that’s two different things Bam. LOL
Azerane, check this out:
This is the carrier I own, and I’ve had no problems with it. It’s a good fit for both my rabbits and they can even turn around in it. Your bunnies are bigger than mine, but I still think they’d fit. You could always wrap a luggage strap around the middle to make it stronger for 2 rabbits.
LBJ, they’re both catchy songs
So, I sent the email regarding the health concerns over the rabbits at the fair. Hopefully someone goes in and checks it out.
Thanks L4B, there’s no Bed Bath and Beyond here
Was looking for something more traditional (square with the grid lid door, if that makes sense). There’s a reasonably priced one at a cheap store that I’ll check out, but I want it to be a touch bigger than what I’ve got. The bunnies fit together, but there’s not a great deal of room.
I had a light bulb moment today. Why would I line Dory’s cage tray with wood pellets (which uses a tonne since it’s 100cm x 60cm and makes it really heavy), when I can use the wood pellets like they’re intended, expanded soaked in water. I used two scoops (maybe 5 cups) of wood pellets, which is maybe 1/5 of what it takes to fill the tray with pellets alone, soaked them in a bit of water and voila! I got enough to cover the whole tray, plus a bit extra which I can use for spot cleaning on her main poop zones. I can’t believe I never did this before. It’s going to save me so much in how many wood pellets I use. And I can’t believe how much they expanded. That’s a win
I also started sprouting for wheat grass the other day. I’m excited to see how that goes, bunnies can have the grass, and Dory can have all the roots and seeds from the bottom.
You’re so resourceful, Azerane. Good luck with the wheatgrass.
Today, I tried to save a bird that was paralysed at my workplace. It was just lying there, belly down on the concrete, laboured breathing and not moving. We have squirrels galore near my work, so I put him in paper towel in a box and rushed him to the local shelter just down the road. In the car he started flapping his wings several times. I gently tried to keep him down so he wasn’t flying around the car, but then he stopped moving. He was gone by the time I reached the shelter. He was a pidgeon, and I think he was paralysed. I phone hubby up and cried my eyes out. I hope my restraining him didn’t make him worse. I was so affected by this but I know that death is a normal part of life. I just really wanted this little one to make it.
L4B: that was a beautiful thing you did. It’s very sad that it died, but if you would have done nothing it would have died as well. You aren’t to blame for anything, sometimes animals are just beyond saving. It’s great that you have such a strong love for animals that you tried to save it, and you can really make a difference with that sometimes.
LB4, I’m sorry the pigeon didn’t make it. You tried to help though. I’d have cried too.
Thankyou for the encouragement, Ellie & Bam. I kinda blamed myself but I’m realising what you’ve both said: I tried and there was nothing else I could’ve done. It’s true, Ellie. I knew in my heart he (or she) was dying. My coworkers (younger males) were also very obliging, (albeit likely wondering what in the world I was doing with a sick bird) and they drove me to my car so the bird could be transported carefully.
Ah I’m with you L4B on that one – I witnessed a horrible babynapping at work by a magpie (gggrrrrrrr) in a beautiful Wren’s nest that we had following for weeks as the babies hatched.
The noise by the parents was chilling as they realised what was happening and they knew they were physically unable to stop it. (It was the racket they were causing that brought us out of our office) I was in a zombie state all afternoon
![]()
PS I’m very confused when I write LFB and L4B……. very similar. Did you both do it on purpose to confuse me ?!
It worked. ![]()
I think I missed a step, Vienna. Is there someone else with the same name as me? Or was that a reference to “deja vu” ?
Gosh, that is horrible about the bird, Vienna (sorry my responses are a but out of order). Yes, I’ve been really out of sorts today. Zoned out.
Vienna, that’s horrible. Or when the magpies attack a pidgeon’s nest. The parents can’t stop it. It’s so cruel, I don’t know how any of the nestlings survive to adulthood. There are crows and magpies all over the place. The clumsy, not-so-bright pidgeons that do no harm to anyone.
My mother chases the crows and magpies off with a broom when they try to go near the blackbirds’ nests in her garden.
We tried to save a baby crow this summer but a cat took it.
Love4Bunny L4B – LFB LuvFurBabies….. too similar for my little tired head !!!
Ohhhh, I geddit. Hahah ![]()
Because 4 begins with F you see, so it’s confusing….. ![]()
Tried the Magic Mushroom (pizza place) tonight. It was kinda gross. My husband wanted to try it because it’s his birthday.
Heheh… what a name.
Happy hubby day, regardless. ![]()
I’ve just realised, it is 6 months today since we got Podge! Off to get the carrots with tops from the market to celebrate ![]()
Yum yum! ![]()
Bunny Update!! We’ve had the bunnies for a week shy of two months now and we’ve finally reached the end point of their weight loss. I’m very happy about that since I was worried Luna was going to lose too much. This week her weight difference was only -1 gram, so nothing really. Apollo was up in weight for the first time, though only by 11 grams so no big deal there and I’d say he’s levelling out too. Apollo now weighs at 3.07kg, down from his initial 3.53kg, and Luna weighs 2.56kg, down from her initial 2.79kg. Looking back at their photos from the day that I adopted them, I can definitely tell they were a bit hefty and now they’re just sleek and beautiful
(Not that they weren’t beautiful the day I adopted them of course
).
I don’t know exactly what their diet was before, definitely unlimited hay, not sure on pellet amount, and probably few veggies. Now they’re on hay, 2 tablespoons of Burgess Excel pellets each (split into two meals), and a big plate of veggies daily (maybe 2 1/2 cups).
We have two very happy and healthy bunnies ![]()
ETA: Thanks L4B, the wheatgrass is growing well so far, should be ready to harvest mid next week.
Congrats bunbuns ![]()
Yay, happy healthy bunnies! Well done Azerane ![]()
I think I should come to the Az spa hotel – if it’s gentle weight loss and caring cuddles, i’ll be there tomorrow !!
I’m sure Zou could do with ‘slendering up’.(too! LOL) .. but hey…. she’s not rolling around… !!
I have NO idea how many pellets to feed her (there’s no guidelines on the pack for such a big bun) – she gets a 2 handfuls a day. She jumps on them but still eats hay so I reckon thats balanced…
And she eats a big endive (chicory) per day and a chunk of carrot every 2 days. And mache when I find it. I don’t have a whole load of choice for bun friendly veggies. And of course loads of willow !!
Unlimited dandelions in the summer and will get rationed dried dandelions in winter.
Lol. Apollo, Luna, and Dory all eat healthier than we do, so I’m not sure the weight loss transfers to humans
Haha, it sounds like enough. They really don’t need terribly many pellets to keep healthy. Bandit weighed more than either of my current two and he got the same amount of pellets. Endive is a good idea, another one to add to the bunnies green rotation. Everything I read about fennel said it wouldn’t keep very long, but I’ve had it a week and it’s still going strong and I have enough left for another week.
Aww, nice to hear that my little Finny and Amelia are doing well. ![]()
Hahhaha
Watching the third Bridget Jones. Lots of LOL moments so far, but man… poor Renee’s face… what did her doctors do to it?? ![]()
Q8, her poor face. Why?? Whoever came up with that idea? She now looks like anybody.
I think sometimes people try so hard to prevent signs of aging that they end up looking like PlayDoh gone wrong ![]()
I’ve been wrapped up on my sofa all weekend with a froggy throat. Am now watching Mechanic: Ressurection and man oh man, that Jason Statham can come rescue me any day. So scrummy! ![]()
And finally: I’m a pretty huge fan of Kiwi movies, so check out Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Great adventure comedy/drama.

poor Renee’s face… what did her doctors do to it??![]()
What do you mean?? It’s only the anti-ageing cream doing its job….
![]()
Q8 – Hope you’re feeling better. Any excuse for a film marathon with your little man, eh? (and I’m not talking about JS!! LOL)
I’m the opposite, when froggy throat comes a-calling, I go out for brisk walk, get the heart a-pumping to frighten the little tadpoles away…
If it doesn’t, THEN I feel sorry for myself in front of t’tele ! ![]()
I would have if there were any oxygen to be inhaled outside ![]()
Ah yes, tricky one… ![]()
One of the reasons everyone gets sick during the warm season ![]()
I had a weird dream last night. I woke up to find rose petals all over the floor in the bedroom, leading out into the hallway. I thought to myself, “that’s romantic”. I walked out into the living room to find rose petals and leaves all over the floor and the buns sitting there eating them. Then I realized they had somehow reached a vase on the table and knocked it over to get the flowers. Then I saw a bunch of half eaten potatoes on the floor. Oh no, they must have gotten into the potatoes in the kitchen too!
Haha, LBJ that’s too funny
I often have dreams about bunny destruction too.

I was already thinking rabbits as soon as I read “rose petals all over the floor”. My brain didn’t even go to romantic.
Perhaps they were showing you how much they love you, but then thought you might be upset at the mess so started to eat them to clean up. And then… Potatoes. I don’t know where the potatoes fit. ![]()
Lol about the dream, LBJ10. I know where the potatoes come in, JG. When my little sis and I were kids, I overheard her sleep taking, “Don’t cover the potatoes! NO!”. It’s a sign. The potatoes are supposed to remain uncovered because the bunnies are SUPPOSED to eat them. That was from the year 1990. Boom. Prophecy fulfilled ![]()
LBJ
LOL I’m with Jersey- straight away my mind shot to buns ![]()
I’m sure we used to give potato peelings to our 2 buns when I was tiny.
I think in those days it was “if the animal likes it then it must be OK”…. ![]()
And we certainly would never have offered them roses as treats ! ![]()
LOL, we often keep the potatoes in a bag on the floor. I don’t normally worry about it because the buns typically don’t go in the kitchen. They are in their room and if we let them out, they are supervised. So when I saw all the half eaten potatoes, I was really worried. The roses, on the other hand, were just a mess. No danger if they ate those.
I had another weird dream last night, but it wasn’t bunny-related. I think I need to stop watching TV.
There was some show on about evidence that the Yeti exists. They had re-enactments with people with furry legs. Well, I dreamed that my legs were covered in a thick coat of fur!!!! LOL
LBJ, that IS scary!!!

Too much cheese before you go to sleep !!! ![]()
Vienna – You can never have too much cheese!
Work sucks today. We’re already run off our feet when the big wigs come along and tell us we have to make a bunch of changes before we leave for the day. What’s to be done I suppose.
In regards to cheese, I agree, you can never have too much.
I’m having cheese as I read this ![]()
I am a HUGE cheese lover…. I didn’t say stop eating cheese, just limit it before you go to sleep !! (all food actually….) heavy tummy = remember weird dreams.
Did you know (I heard this weekend) we ALL dream every 90mins into sleep (so about 4 times each night) but we just don’t remember them…. ![]()
I’m lactose intolerant and I have pills to be able to eat cheese
Cheese is awesome, that’s one thing I could not give up! I’m going to eat so much cheese when I go back to Portugal for Xmas ![]()
“Lactose intolerant” – my nightmare…. I’d wither away ![]()
I’ve developed it about 4 years ago… but then I found enzyme pills! Now I can eat cheese, with moderation. And hard cheese, my favourite, doesn’t have much lactose to start with. But it’s an adjustment for sure.
Oh, man, Jo, I’d perish. I have milk AND yogurt AND cheese every single day, plus other stuff like buttermilk and sour cream randomly. I need my own cow, that’s how much my life craves dairy.
I just wanna say for the record that I would give up dairy for Chewie. It’s the only way I’d even consider it. Like, if it was a choice between dairy and the furball or something extreme. Hell, I’d chew my own arm off if Chewie needed me to. I love my little fuzzy butt. ![]()
Give up dairy for Zou, yes.
Chew my arm off….errr….
![]()
Hehe, it sounds like you would all be in heaven here in the Netherlands. We love to ripen our cheeses to get a better flavour, most Dutch don’t consider a cheese properly matured until it has ripened for at least 9 months or a year.
And if you’re ever here in the Netherlands and love dairy, don’t miss out on “vla”. It’s a kind of custard pudding with the consistency of yoghurt. It comes in a myriad of flavours ranging from vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee and more exotic flavours like pears poached in wine.
Ellie: Yummy yum yum. My mouth is watering.
Vienna: He is as close as I’ll ever come to having a child and I love him dearly. ![]()
Ellie, it does sound so yummy! Makes me long to go to the Netherlands. I’ve been twice, but the second time we were just staying over night in Swolle, so that doesn’t really count.
Ugh… I believe that the frog in my throat is turning into a head cold. Why can’t they ever turn into princes, like they do in fairy tales? ![]()
Q8, here there’s a good variety of milk, cream cheese, sour cream, etc that’s lactose free. I’m just sad the lactose free greek yogurt is stupidly expensive, so I usually get the 2% fat. Boo. It’s a lifestyle change for sure.
I’ve had some Dutch cheese before! Not while I was in the Netherlands, I was rushing about because of a conference… but my bf did field work in Curacao, which is Dutch, and brought back some cheese. Yummy stuff
in Portugal we also cure our cheese a lot. It was a big chance when moving to Canada ![]()
Q8, I think frogs turning into princes is a myth
Get well soon, Q8!
1 – Plenty of frogs over here – I’m in France !!!

2 – they call us Brits ‘Roast Beef ‘

But Chewie is your prince!
He has a crown and everything ![]()
I was so tired last night, but try as I might I just could not shut my mind down. Too many bunny related things on my mind ![]()
Ugh September, nearly October and this Tonsillitis will NOT go away, if anyone does not have tonsils they can have mine for free, just take them, all this talk about cheese sounds nice I love cheese but can’t swallow, so cheese is off the shopping list
So me is off to bed for a few hours, take care all.
Ellie, that sounds amazing. I’m sensitive to lactose. Went off it and my body felt great. Went back on it because I have a cheese addiction. That sums it up. Trying to eat harder cheeses instead of softer ones.
Vienna, so if I understand this correctly, you are a Pom by birth, but you now live in France? Or did I get that wrong?
Q8, at Ikea you CAN turn your frog into a prince. Yep. They have these reversible fairytale soft toys and once you’ve had enough of the frog, you flip him inside out, and voila: Prince Charming.
L4B – yup, a Pom through and through who somehow made her way over to France and stayed here ever since (I’m still trying to remember why really….)
Currently in a rather major ‘Shall I stay or shall I go now….” mid-life crisis at the moment…. I’m waiting for a sign to help me, but I haven’t seen any yet… ![]()
Here is Prince Froggie from Ikea ! ![]()

This reminds me of an anecdote my BF told me. He and his family went to Canada this summer for the wedding of one of his cousins. There was a store in town which advertised: “Artisanal Cheese, cured for 2 weeks!”. They actually were proud of that curing time… Here in the Netherlands the stuff doesn’t even leave the storehouse until it is at least 4 weeks old, and then we call it “jong” or “young”. The cheese is still very soft and sticky then, and it doesn’t have a lot of flavour. We have these classifications for Dutch cheeses (shamelessly ripped from wikipedia):
| Dutch name | English | Curing time | Flavour and texture |
| Jonge kaas | Young Cheese | 4 weeks | Sticky, soft, bland. Often served as party snack cut in cubes. Difficult to slice with a cheese grater because of the stickyness. |
| Jong belegen | Slightly matured | 8 – 10 weeks | Slighly more firm and flavourful than young cheese. Often used on sandwiches, easy to slice with a cheese grater. Great for melts. |
| Belegen | Mature | 16 – 18 weeks | Firm and flavourful. Often used on sandwiches, easy to slice with a cheese grater. Great for melts. |
| Extra belegen | Extra mature | 7-8 months | Very firm and very flavourful. Used on sandwiches, slighty difficult to slice with a cheese grater. |
| Oude kaas | “Old” cheese | 10-12 months | Brittle and has small salt crystals. Flavour is a mix between a hint of caramel and salt. Difficult to slice, but store-bought slices can be put on sandwiches. Often served as a party snack in cubes. |
| Overjarige kaas | Over 1 year old cheese | 12 months or more |
Very brittle with clear salt crystals, flavour even more pronounced than oude kaas. Mostly served cut into cubes, delicious with mustard and also, surprisingly…with thick apple syrup. Its salty caramel flavour combines wonderfully with the tart sweetness of the apples. It’s seen as a true delicacy and can often been found in the box of delicacies that employees get from their bosses as a christmas gift. |
Dutch food is all about rustic comfort food. We’re especially known for our cheeses of course, but also for our hearty and heavy winter food. Best kept secret? Our love for everything sweet, we have so many recipies for baking, especially for the Sinterklaas feast on December the 5th. Think huge chunks of spiced cookies baked with brown sugar (speculaas), pastry dough filled with almond paste (amandelstaaf), small spiced cookies with oriental spices from Indonesia (kruidnoten). In the summer we love our fruit pies from Limburg in the south: vlaai. I usually bake several for my birthday in June. My favourite: apricot vlaai, with a large dollop of sweetened cream on top ![]()
You won’t find a lot of haute cuisine, but if you’re looking for a hearty meal on a cold winters’ day, look no further: http://www.thedutchtable.com/
And to everyone who is currently ill: get well soon! {{healing vibes and best wishes!}}
Ellie, I need to move to the Netherlands! I LOVE pastries.
Hehe, Vienna. That’s awesome you can do that, though. You don’t have too much tying you down. Yes, that’s the Frog Prince. I bought my niece The Big Bad Wolf for Christmas. His stomach opens up to swallow a mini Grandma, haha.
I LOVE the juice aisles in NL….. never seen so much choice in me life ? Never drunk so many so quickly either. Yum bubble gum !!!
Yeah, Canadian cheese is so mild! The Quebec stuff is quite yummy, just not as flavourful I guess.
Speculaas!!! They have it in Germany too. My bf gets them in care packages from his family. So good! I really like them
I was raised with a ridiculous amount of pastries, Portugal is also a little crazy about them.
Hmmm… I’m creating a list of food I want to eat when I go back!
Jo: I keep forgetting that my likely future province is in a country that cares about stuff like that. Been in the sandpit way too long.
Bam: Thanks
Vienna: I know! I’m used to being bathed in golden light when I wake up, and now it’s dull gray out. So depressing. NOT motivated to shower and go to work. Reading BB with fuzzybutt instead
Az & Ellie: I think I’ll get my little prince a frog prince and see what he makes of it ![]()
Man, you guys are killing me here. LOL
Well, I will be learning my fate tomorrow. My probation (work probation, not jail probation) will be up here shortly. If my review goes well, I will be official.
GOOD LUCK LBJ
![]()
After 2 yrs of carpet walking, Zou had decided she’s not tile-phobic..
Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
(I found her outside of the kitchen area last night UNbunnyproofed……..)
I have NO idea what I am going to do now…. ![]()
OMG – I swear its like having a toddler that just realised he can toddle – fast !!
(is “toddle” even a word?
lol – yes of course it is!)
And she’s like a stealth-machine !
I think I know where she is then suddenly she’s passed under my chair and is licking (I hope, not chewing, but I doubt it!) the tyre of my bike which lives in the living room at the other end of the house!!! Having of course passed by many electric cables, wallpapered walls (DON’T TOUCH!) and other bunny-unfriendly things…
So no free-roaming inside until I can work this out… (fear not newbies, she’s free-roaming outdoors!)
I’m not sure the new potential lodger signed up for segreated kitchen areas ! ![]()
LBJ, good luck!!!
Good luck, LBJ and Vienna ![]()

Well, of course, good luck Vienna as well. Buns do the most unexpected things at the mist unexpected times :/

Watching the third Bridget Jones. Lots of LOL moments so far, but man… poor Renee’s face… what did her doctors do to it??![]()
OMG yes,
I hadn’t seen her…. here’s a recent interview and around 1′ you can see the pulled down skin on her throat, not knowing really where to go when she turns her head…. as you say – poor thing – and sooooo skinny !! Far too skinny imho.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQydrPWBPG4
So… I can never figure out what Renee exactly did to her face. They say nose job but I think it’s her forehead or something or other. And her chin.
Thanks guys. I’m officially official now. Although I don’t feel any different. Hmm……
Yay, congratulations LBJ!
Congrats LBJ, it’s usually like that. Such as a big birthday. Hooray, I turned 18/21/30 etc…. well now what
Hoping for an easy day at work today, but I get the feeling that it’s not going to be the case, lots to do and no idea how we’re going to do it.
Congrats LBJ! That’s pretty awesome news ![]()
Congraaaaaats.
Celebrate !!!
Oh great.. Breintje just had a “Frozen” moment. He was loafing on the couch next to me, being petted for a long time and really relaxing. He appearantly was too comfy to drag his fluffbutt to the litter box, so he just *let it gooooo, let it go..!”
Luckily only poops, and he immediately ate them. But that was quite enough for me for today. He’s sitting on the floor in front of the couch now, purring and being a disgusting little stinkmonster. I’d swear he’s proud that he has hit a new low in the field of lazyness.
Haha, shortly after I adopted them, I found Apollo in a dead bunny flop, with a little poop just sitting on his fur just outside the exit zone, lol.
Soooo tired of being micromanaged at work lately. Just let me do my job like I’ve always done, and things will get done. I’m so glad I have time off coming up soon, it has worked out to be perfect timing. ![]()
Aww, you guys are the best. I got a raise too, but even that wasn’t all that impressive sadly. I was more worried about what my boss was going to say, but he didn’t say much. Just said he thought I was doing a good job.
Azerane – I don’t like being micromanaged either. At my job, it’s pretty much the complete opposite of that at the moment. I do have to make a lot of judgement calls on my own though. Mostly with people (not coworkers) and how to deal with them.
Yes, it can be a real pain. I just want to get on with my job and do it like I know I can. It would be much quicker too.
Also, I really need to stop getting distracted and head out to get hay for the bunnies and put the car away before the major storm front comes through. It’s closing in rapidly and I’m not having my car crushed by our gum tree!
Congratulations, LBJ!!!
Many congrats, LBJ10!
Ellie, your comment about him hitting a new low made me laugh ![]()
That moment when your ENTIRE STATE is without power and probably will be for another 10 hours! Thank goodness for gas stoves (and mobile phones)
Azerane, that sounds worrisome! Mobile masts need electricity. Stay safe!!!!
Wow Az, you were right about putting the car away !! What a storm ! ![]()
LBJ:
Felicitations!
Az: Be safe (your car too)
Ellie: Thanks for making me LOL myself to tears. And I bookmarked that site because I live for comfort food (I call it peasant food) and love cooking savoury stuff (not a dessert person – except for fresh fruit pies!) ![]()

Hang in there!!![]()
I have a question about neutering and hormonal behavior and I don’t want to hijack someone else’s thread so maybe I can ask here?
Patton is 3-4 months old now and I’ve been reading a bunch of threads over in behavior about hormonal bunnies. I know that this is about the time where things may begin to change for the big guy.
Which is sad because he’s been so incredibly awesome so far! He’s got a litter box in his room, as well as a box in the corner of the living room. I often see him get up suddenly, bolt to the litterbox, sit for a moment and go right back to his hang out spot. Perfect.
I’ll gladly have him neutered when he starts spraying, urinating in other places and trying to make tender love to my children’s appendages! ![]()
But here is my question: Before Patton, I had 3 other bunnies in the ‘modern era’. All males. All un neutered. The first 2, an American Chinchilla and a Checkered Giant, never showed ANY signs of hormonal outbursts. I guess I was lucky? Then my Holland Lop Halsey arrived. (Cue “Hound Dog” by Elvis Presley). He was quite a… prolific little guy. I ended up getting him some stuffed balls that he loved until a few weeks before he died of old age.
So I’m wondering, how often does a bunny still behave even without neutering/spaying? Should I wait until I see unfortunate behavior before I have him neutered? Are there OTHER benefits to neutering like prolonging his life/reducing stress?
Sorry if this is supposed to be an off-topic thread!
Barret, you can always start a new thread of your own by clicking the “Add Topic” button to the upper left un your sub-forum of choice. But since you already have asked your questions here, we might just as well answer them here
There’s no telling which bunny will develop hyper-sexuality and which won’t. I got my Bam when he was an adult, I had him for a year before he developped a crush on my dog. We have members here who have problem-free intact boys. I think tge chances increase vastly if the bun is an only pet in the household.
As for neutering early, I did that with my bunny Yohio. I was hoping to bond him to my first bun, so I had him neutered asap for that reason, before any adverse behaviors had surfaced. I never managed to bind him and Bam, but litter-training-what se it was a huge success. He slept in my bed and he spent a good deal of his day on it, but he never once peed there.
Thankfully it wasn’t off for as long in our area as they said it would be. We went to bed early and I think within 15 minutes of going to bed the power was back on. There’s still more rural areas that are without power though. The mobile towers must have backup power because I had phone reception the whole time. More of the storm coming through today so possibly some more outages on the way. Funny story, I boiled water on the stove for a hot drink, thankfully I checked the water with a torch before pouring it in my mug, a moth had flown into the pot while it was boiling! I would have drank it if I hadn’t checked! I had to tip it out and reboil some more
Also, very random. But I had a dream that my husband and I owned a home somewhere and we had a greyhound x kelpie called Chase (he liked to run)
We had to go and get him bathed and treated for ticks after he ran through a lot of bushes ![]()
That’s an interesting mix Azerane. How did you come up with that?
My bunny guru vet swears by altering boys and girls for health issues. She says in her experience things like UTIs and cancers are dramatically less frequent in altered buns.
I have no idea LBJ, I just know that in my dream he was definitely a greyhound x kelpie. Kelpie is an easy explanation because I love working breeds, but I’m not sure why greyhound. I googled the mix after I got out of bed and found a dog that looks just like him
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/mike-allen/IMG_0203Small.jpg
Power went out again today, played some board games with hubby and spent extra time with the pets. Right now I’m putting off cleaning out the litter tray because it’s cold outside ![]()
LBJ, belated Congrats! Being out of probabtion period means more job security, right?
@Q8, sorry to hear it! Feel better soon {{{vibes}}} coming your way.
@Azerane, the greyhound have been in the news a lot lately. Maybe that’s why it made it into your dreams? To those unaware, one of the States here recently abolished Greyhound racing.
Im in fortunate situation of having gas at home also, so I wasn’t too badly affected by the power outage. I still had a hot meat and hot cuppa and was able to read a book.
My sister had her fire going so she heated a meal and boiled water in a billy can. Her kids thought it was great! My other sister were using the BBQ before the daylight disappeared.
Having all the street and traffic lights out was interesting. I was really impressed at how careful drivers were being and the flow of traffic was surprisingly good when I was on the roads. I think people were probably less distracted then they normally are also, without businesses being lit up and no flashing signs etc.
You’re right, it could have been because it’s been around on on the news. We have a gas stove but I didn’t fancy cooking much in the dark so just had boiled eggs
We lost power again for about another 4 hours today, we just played some board games
My brother and his family only got power back around lunch time today, theirs was out for 20 hours and I don’t think they have gas cooking. There’s always the BBQ, but no one wants to be outside in this weather.
Just looked at the forecast, Thursday next week is supposed to be 27! Very exciting, I love the heat.
Yeah and we’re down to 15 and rain…. the joys of autumn…
Oh? They banned dog racing?
Jersey – Yes and no. I’m considered a permanent employee, but my position is still grant funded. We just heard that our state funding (we have several funding sources) is being cut by half over the next 2 years. If we can’t make up for it in some other way, a large chunk of my programming (I do education) might be done away with. Right now, my boss doesn’t think anyone will lose their job. But I suppose anything could happen. It’s been rather hostile here with fighting over taxes, etc. Our mayor actually filed a lawsuit because city council refused to balance the city’s budget.
Congratulations on the promotion, LBJ. I’m sure your boss wouldn’t be so quick to reassure if they couldn’t pull from other funding sources. The mayor and city council thing sounds like a mess. I worked for the state for two years and that was always interesting. I enjoyed it though and would consider going back if the right job was there.
JG, I saw the undercover vid a while back of how they disposed of greyhounds overseas (live dogs sent from Oz). I cried so hard and my heart broke a little, seeing all those dogs watching their mates die. I mean, it was always about the people and never about what was good for the dogs. Do you know if the dogs are allowed to run for fun on a course, or if all racing, full stop, has been banned?
LBJ10, that is crazy how people are with money. Just wow.
Also, can everyone believe this is almost October?
We are going to a Celtic Fest this weekend. Neither of us have any Celt blood (I wish), but the fest is so much fun. The bf is trying haggis this time, he says. He said he would last year too
This vegetarian is not trying haggis, but I will definitely indulge in some fest food.
Also, Odette gets her first pumpkin (!!!!!). I’ve never had a bun who would eat pumpkin. I bet Odette drags the whole pumpkin off. She’s a handful– literally and figuratively.
L4B, I hate greyhound racing. I can’t watch that, but how heartbreaking. I am so glad Australia abolished greyhound racing, JG. I wish the US would follow suit.
Unfortunately it wasn’t all of Australia that banned it, just one state. But I’m hoping the others won’t be too far behind. There was a big scandal a year or two ago now where they came out with a bunch of footage showing that trainers were using live baiting to train their dogs (absolutely heartbreaking to watch). Which is of course illegal. So I think this is possibly follow-on from that, which is great.
Odette, I don’t think greyhound racing is legal in very many states in the USA now either. I know Florida is one where it is. Wikipedia tells me it’s only legal in 9 US states, which is better than nothing, but really not good enough.
To be honest, greyhound racing really wouldn’t be a bad thing if there weren’t so many problems with the industry itself in live baiting, dog ‘wastage’ etc.
Az, that’s horrible.
I just looked it up and my state is one that outlaws greyhound racing. Which is a relief to me.
Hopefully, there will be an outright ban here and there. Or at least the trainers will adhere to regulations on proper animal welfare.
Greyhound racing is legal in a neighboring state. Gambling is legal there too. Not here. But people go over the border all the time to gamble and bet on horse and dog races. There is a greyhound rescue here that adopts out retired racing dogs. There used to be one that lived in our neighborhood. His owner always put a human T-shirt on him.
Oh gosh, things have been very unsettled for some time now. If it isn’t one thing, it’s another. Our local politicians have been at each others’ throats and many citizens are angry and frustrated. It makes it very difficult to work for city government. There are times when I worry. The way things are done doesn’t always line up with my morals, if that makes sense. =\
And in other news today, Chewbacca Rabbit has decided that one month between moults is long enough. His furless mother was seen surreptitiously plucking tufts of hair from his hind quarters while he vacationed in Club Bed yesterday evening. There is no information as of yet as to whether strings of poo will soon follow.
Kuwait private school teachers celebrate as Ministry of Private Education declares three-day weekend in light of Monday’s Islamic New Year. A number of teachers were seen pumping their fists in the air as they pulled their cars out of school parking lots on Thursday afternoon. They were last seen speeding in the general direction of the local Chili’s. Unfortunately, sources say that at least one teacher was subsequently up all night with heartburn and a terrible student-gifted head cold. Tragically, the teacher in question woke up before dawn thinking she needs to go to work. Our thoughts are with her family.
The forecast for the next three days is very promising for you weather watchers out there. After the seasonal shift last Thursday night, you can look forward to sunny skies, increasingly cooler temperatures, and pleasant easterly breezes. Get out your paddleboards! It’s beach weather again.

Oh my gosh, Q8, you are hilarious!
Haha Q8, you’ve taken Chat to a whole new level.
Enjoy your weekend! We have a long weekend here also.
Anyone spot this koala video doing the rounds in the Internet? It was only captured on Monday & it appears it went viral.
This is actually at a local business here in my state.

Yes, I just saw that earlier today in fact. It’s very cute ![]()
I’m actually enjoying all the SA storm memes that are going around. ![]()
That is very sweet, JG.
Az, I like the gif where the electrical towers are playing jumprope
Gosh, it is 2am now and I am up late. Aaand the bunnies have come alive… Crysta morphed into speedy Gonzales and is like a bucking bronco, and Thor picked up a second wind. Please, someone tell me this is not a permanent shift in their clocks! We have just entered Autumn. Did I just bugger up their internal sleeping patterns?
That photo !!!!! Brought a huge smile to my face. How cute !! ![]()
I’m glad it did, Vienna. She stood there staring at me for about 10-15 seconds as I took this pic.
She was surely saying “Come on peasant. Press the button. COME ON !!!!” ![]()
Cuuuteeeeee! ![]()
Super cute!! Another you could enter in photo comp, L4B.
I havent seen any storm memes. Will have to google.
This page has most of the main memes on it, including the jumping towers

Crysta is so cute peering out of the box fort!
“Adelaide maternity wards 9 months from now” !!

There was a surge in baby-births after the big power-out in New York sometime in the 1970ies I believe I’ve read.
A couple of years ago there was a big bunny show here and a storm caused the roof to fall in while all the bunnies were caged up for the night. Quite a few of the buns seized the opportunity to fraternize and many mixed-breed baby rabbits saw the light of day a month later.

Sadly I live near the Greyhound tracks, I’m in the UK, it breaks my heart to see these innocent animals tied to lampposts, when I go past on the bus because their dog didn’t win a race
How can humans be so heartless?
Thanks, guys
She’s my little doll face! I just want to hug and kiss her all the time but she’s a bit fraidy, so I have to pick my moments to shower love on her.
Lol, Vienna.
Yes, JG! I thought of meme’s straightaway.
Bam… well that’s one way to do speed dating. Yikes.
Charlies Angel, that is so sad. Those dogs basically lose their “family” and everything they know because of selfishness and greed. As part of a penalty, they should have the breeders race on all fours instead. Now, I’d like to see that. I am intrigued by sighthounds and if I had the money and space, would get an Irish Wolfhound. I’ve done a bit of online research on Whippets, Iggies, Afgans & Borzoi’s and they just seem like very interesting pets. I’m okay with the aloof personality. I mean, you have to be with bunnies. I think my dream home would also include some smaller reptiles and a skunk (I’d be okay with de-glanding her). Here is a link on a skunk in a wildlife education facility. She is also a pet. Her name is Lollipop:
Imagine how cute some of those bunnies would have been!
Then again, all bunnies are cute
The baby boom has been mentioned here quite a number of times, haha.
State just has a flooding issues now. Bad for many homes and businesses, but fantastic for our environment which rarely gets this much rain or water flowing through rivers. They were probably due for a flush.
Crysta is such a beauty.
Stay safe in the flooding if you are in that area, Az. Is the rain from the storm off the coast?
Azerane, well at least that’s one positive. I remember visiting Fiji on a layover. The flood had practically levelled Nandi/ Nadi and had risen to the rooftops. So sad, since I’m guessing tourism brought them their wages.
Thankyou, Odette. Nice to know I’m not too biased
I almost named her Galadriel for her etherial “mane”.
Wow, in 3 hours it will be the first of October! ![]()
Soil hydrology has changed. We had a severe drought. Now we have torrential rains in the spring. I’m talking 7-10 inches in one go! The water table is higher than it used to be and water underground has been finding new paths of least resistance. Everyone is having problems with their basements. Our basement was dry as a bone for the first 12 or more years we lived here. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that we suddenly started having problems. Water seeps up through the concrete floor. We threw out so much stuff because it became moldy. I’m just horrified. But it’s the same story everywhere and we get a lot of complaints at work, but I don’t really understand what they expect us to do. We can’t control the weather. =\
I feel like I got so little done at work this week. Now it’s the weekend and there is too much stuff to do at home. I’m just not feeling motivated to do most of it. Hopefully everyone else has fun plans.
Odette, thank you
We’re fine where we are, I have some family in rural areas that have been flooded (though not their houses) and my Nanna was completely cut off yesterday due to flooding road closures, but all is well
LBJ, it’s amazing how things can change like that. That is so much rain in a short period of time, I’m not surprised that the water table has risen if that’s happening regularly. It’s tough to be expected to do something about it when it’s only natural and there’s nothing to be done.
Azarene – It makes sense. With such extremes, shrinking and swelling of the soil (which is high in clay) is likely to occur. Water takes the path of least resistance, so changes in the soil also mean changes in the way water moves within it. Since this change has occurred over a relatively short period of time, people are just bewildered by what’s happening and they want to blame someone. It’s frustrating for me because I have a grant program and people for some reason think that it’s meant to help people with flooding and drainage problems (and, therefore, the city is somehow admitting they are responsible). But the grant is not meant for that at all and, in fact, will not reimburse for anything related to water-proofing a basement. But these are the kinds of phone calls I get every day. *sigh*
WATERFALL OF PEE!!!! ![]()
Seriously. I’m just sitting here watching tv and I hear a strange noise. I look over and there’s Luna, sitting on the top level of the condo, right in the corner and she just lets it go. Not a small pee either and it just cascaded over the edge like a beautiful waterfall and down into their water bowl, and onto the carpet etc.
My only theory is because I’m cooking a roast and they’re scared of the meat smell, she didn’t want to go downstairs to use the tray. Such a pain ![]()
I guess I better clean it up, it was just so unexpected that I felt the need to quickly post here first before cleaning it, lol.
![]()
Wowser, Azerane. That’s hilarious and disgusting all at once. Poop, I don’t mind. Pee… that just takes longer to clean. May the Force be with you.
She must have really needed to go, because while I was still cleaning up the first mega mess, she peed again! Fortunately I caught it before it went over the edge. At first I worried that perhaps she was ill, but I think it was simply a matter of holding on too long, and the fact that shortly before hiding upstairs they shared a giant plate of very wet greens.
Lesson learned, don’t feed lots of greens before cooking meat, lol.
Cooking meat in front of the fuzz balls is a tad mean….. ??
Well it’s hardly like I can help it.
I had to take the old space of the condo for Dory’s cage because birds MUST be kept away from cooking fumes, so the condo had to end up directly opposite the doorway with the oven. Maybe they just shouldn’t be so sensitive, lol.
Girl bunnies!
I dont cook meat but TimTim still acts funny whenever I have oven or stove on. Maybe residual smells or the sound of the gas? Idk.
Psst! Oct chat is up!
Oops. I see you already saw that! ![]()
