Hi i am currently trying to bond arnold who is a 3yr old dutch and misty who is 6 month hollond lop. Both are adopted from different rescue centers. We took misty to meet arnold at the center and we mixed them 3 times which went really well both grooming during the 3rd mixing so we brought him home.
Misty had a hard time accepting arnold in the house so we kept the in seperated cages next to each other taking the slow route. We got to the point where they are touching noses and flopping next to each other misty was even buzzing when she was next to him. We upped the anti by giving them their greens together out of the cages which still goes well they share really well. So we moved onto open play time in a pen set up outside on neutral ground. This is where things go pear shaped. Arnold permanently chases mounts bites and pulls fur. Misty has submitted but still arnold will not stop it has been over two weeks now of mixing twice a day for an hour. The shelter suggested putting them in box which we did poor misty went as flat as she could make her self and arnold just kept humping and biting even progressing to ears tail and face so i seperated them.
Both rabbits are neautered/spayed as this was done at the shelters.
Should we continue or give it up as a bad job?
