So I have to bunnies, brother from the same litter. They lady I got them from told me they are rex rabbits. Now that they are almost 5 months old i came to realize that they are a bit small to be rex rabbits so i did some research thinking maybe they are mini rex’s then i found out that they arent those either because they’re coats lay flat against them. I will attach some pictures if anyone can help me find out what breed they are because im stumped after doing all this research.

Definitely not rex (reg or mini). Adorable though!

Not pure Rex. I have a Rex and her fur is the silkiest EVER. I also have a Rex crossed with a new Zealand. And a California/New Zealand, and I use to have a red new Zealand. They look like a mix of those breeds. The red one looks like Red New Zealand. He could be crossed with a Rex, and would lose the silky Rex fur. The black/white could be a Rex/California cross.

                    They are so very sweet!!
It seems to happen a lot, that uppy ear rabbits are termed Rex rabbits.

Are they in a kiddie pool? That looks like a great digging box!

Are you planning to have them both desexed? You will probably have to separate them otherwise. Or else you will have a lot more then just 2 rabbits.

They definitely aren’t Rex rabbits, but I don’t know what the breed is. They may very well be mixed breeds. In any case, they are very cute/handsome! Even if they are the same sex and from the same litter, you will need to have them both neutered. Otherwise, there is a good chance that they could fight and injure each other. Since they are 5 months old, they would already be in puberty, with the hormones that brings, so they should be separated until they have had their surgeries and a few weeks has elapsed.

They will be getting neutered soon, I’m currently on the search for a vet that I can trust to do so in my area. I haven’t weighed them which I should start doing, but they’re are light I would say 2-3 lbs. just wish I could figure out what they are but I love them regardless.

This may help you find a suitable vet (in case you haven’t seen that thread yet). https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/116849/afnp/278073/Default.aspx

You might be able to guess their breed or breed mix once they are adults. The body form and weight might help narrow it down. I was never able to guess the breed of my first rabbit. My best guess was she was a dutch/lop mix. But when she was young and I was not familiar with rabbit breeds, google images led me to believing she might be a rex, or english spot, and one person even suggested American Flemish. Lol. She turn out to weigh 5lbs as an adult. Be wary of image searches because you get a lot of results that are clearly mis-labeled.

Another thing that can be confusing with rabbit breeds is some breed names are also

colour names. But the colours can appear in multiple different rabbit breeds. Some examples of that are Himalayan, Harlequin, Silver Marten, Tan.. I think Palomino also.

Your black and white bunny would be called Magpie Harlequin pattern/colour and the fawn one is possible Palomino (does it have a white belly and underside of tail). BUT that does not mean they are also that breed of rabbit.
Hope I’ve made sense. Doubtful. Lol.

Have you asked the lady who you got them from – what their parents are?

The lady I got them from said the mom was otter Rex and the dad was harlequin. But as far as I know harlequin isn’t a breed it’s just a color patteren. My fawn one does have a white underside and tail. I was doing more research thinking maybe they are New Zealand or its atleast part of there breed but they are still rather small and at there age shouldn’t they be closer to there full weight?
