He could be responding to the little boy the way a dog can respond to a small child. When my dog was a puppy and severely mischievious, you know the stage when they steal shoes and bite their leash and refuse to come when called, she would be perfectly obedient with my then 5 year old niece. My niece could get “stolen” things back from Ephi, sth that absolutely no grown up could do. Ephi didn’t pull at her leash when my niece was holding the leash, and so on.

I agree with Bam. Some animals act differently around small children- more gentle, obedient, patient, etc.

I used to ride horses and their was this one horse, Johnny, who was considered a higher level horse. He was very stubborn and he would test his riders to see what he could get away with (not in a mean way, he was just mischievous). However, he was used in a lot of lessons with kids because he was a completely different horse around children. Very calm, patient, understanding, forgiving. If a young rider halted him, he’d stand perfectly still like a statue. He’d never misbehave if a child was involved- like a nurturing instinct.

Perhaps it’s a similar situation with your bunny. For some of those commands, they may be words your bun has picked up on, like “come”. For the others, such as “play dead” I couldn’t tell you how he understood them or if it was a coincidence. Anyway, it seems your bun might have a soft spot for kids
