Whoops! Sorry, she’s 2 years old. An American Chinchilla, and a BIG girl. I should note I’ve known her for a while, and only recently got to the point where I was able to adopt her and house her properly. She’s been a show bunny, and lived outside most of her life, which is why I so surprised at how well she’s taking to being a house bunneh. When we first met I think it was love at first sight, as she crawled out of her elevated cage and draped herself across my shoulders and refused to get off. So I think she’s been “mine” for a while.
Clearly, I’m on a steep learning curve here. In the few days she’s been here, she’s figured out how to get up on the couch, and help herself to my lap. But I also see her roll over on her back, belly in the air, and sleep like that. Unusual, I think.
She’s terrific with the two kittens in my house, ages 6 months and 3 months, and it cracks me up to see them take turns chasing each other. Especially since Clover towers over the kittens.
One thing I’m considering is giving Clover free run at night. My house has slick wooden flooring, so to give her traction I have certain areas covered with rubber mats and carpet runners. She has room to run and bink, but she won’t walk on the slick areas for lack of traction. Everywhere she can reach is bunny proofed to a fare thee well.
I’m glad she’s here. It’s clear this rabbit adores me, and I’m going to do all I can to deserve it.
