I assume that you are talking about pellets for young rabbits, since you mentioned babies. Here is the nutritional info on Oxbow Essentials – Young Rabbit Food. They have cane molasses listed as the 6th ingredient. It looks like that is the only source of sugar. The only “cheaper” pellets that I know of are Purina. A 50 pound bag is less than $20. It’s not the best food, but it’s not the worst. I think that any “cheaper” pellets will come from a feed store, and they might not be as healthy as Oxbow or other brands that members here use. I do think Purina contains corn, which rabbits shouldn’t have. I think all pellets contain some form of sugar. I don’t know if the brand you got has molasses listed higher or not, or if there are more than one source of sugar. If your new brand of pellets compares close enough to Oxbow, they should be okay. You are supposed to mix new pellets with the old, when changing brands.
