Hey, everyone!
My name is Juan and I’m a new bunny owner, three months ago I adopted a lionhead rabbit and since then Ive been doing lots of research and whatnot.
When we got him the store clerk said he was about 3-4 months old, he’s an unaltered male rabbit, we have full intentions on gettim him neutered, however we had an incident and decided to wait until he got over it, let me explain.
Ender, our bunny, used to live In a cage. We would let him out all day but would place him back inside every night, to which he would start rattling and bitting-pulling his cage bars. He was very enthusiastic one night and my wife and I noticed the next day that he wasn’t eating very well and it took us two days to realize the poor thing had broken his upper teeth!
Since then he’s a free range bunny, we took lots of care with his food, slicing his veggies in very thin pieces and hand feeding him. He’s perfectly fine now, his teeth have grown back and he’s very energetic and is eating his veggies normally again (I like to joke around saying he lost a battle but won the war since he’s free range now :p)
But that’s not why I’m looking for advice, its been a couple of weeks since he’s perfectly fine, but recently he became very vocal and we started noticing some behaviour changes . first of all. He’s always been very independent and would only request petting once in a while, but he will always ask for attention now, we basically pet him dozens of times throughout a day, while we only used to to it a couple of times (not because we didn’t want to, but he would always ignore us and hop away)
He also started being very nosy, whenever he rests and gets up running to my feet he would do so by doing a sort of honking, soft grunting noise. He does it even when he’s hopping around
I thought it might be sign of something being wrong, but he would flop right there in my feet or ask to be petted, he eats normally and poops normally as well.
I’m a bit confused with his behaviour, however I believe it might be his hormones? I’m not entirely sure and that’s why Ive come here to ask for advice, were looking into getting him neutered sometime next week.
Thanks for any insight on this! He seems happy all the time but Im a very paranoid dad :p
