Hello,
Im looking after a bunny (Netherland Dwarf named Miffy) for a friend while she is away (at my house) and I’m keeping her in an outdoor run during the day, and in her own hutch at night. I have a bunny of my own (lion head mix named Peanut Butter) who I let run around without a run/cage during the day. They have smelt each other through the bars of the run, and seemed to be getting on ok (I didnt want them to bond, as this rabbit Im looking after is only here for 3 weeks so kept them apart).
I started to notice Miffy was nipping my rabbit Peanut through the bars, and somehow Miffy got out from the run, and there was a small fight between the 2 rabbits before I was able to separate them. My rabbit Peanut has subsequently got a small cut on the bottom of her eye socket…It looked ok at first like a scratch, but now it looks a bit gammy and wet under there. She doesn’t seem bothered by it, but I don’t want it to be infected or something.
Is this “normal” or should I be concerned?
What should I do?
My rabbit is very sweet natured and keeps going back to this other rabbit, trying to eat next to her and smell her, but Miffy is rather aggressive and keeps nipping her through the bars. Im worried she will attack my rabbit again…any advice? Thank you!
