Hello
I just adopted a bunny, Muffin, from a rabbit rescue yesterday and I’ve noticed she hasn’t touched her pellets. My other bunny, Sawyer, gobbles his down pretty fast; usually within a few hours. I don’t put a lot of pellets in their bowls at a time. They are around 4 pounds so I give them about 1/8th-1/4th of a cup of pellets a day. I noticed Muffin was a little picky about food. She will take treats from our hands but won’t eat them. Sawyer goes crazy over treats.
Muffin is eating romaine lettuce slowly and is always munching on hay, but not her pellets. I am feeding her the same brand as the rabbit rescue did. I am going to ask them if they noticed her not eating very many pellets if she doesn’t start eating any soon. The rabbit rescue takes good care of all their bunnies. I know all bunnies are different and will have slightly different eating habits. Maybe Sawyer just likes eating more. I will also take her to the vet if I have to, but other than not eating the pellets she is doing fine. She has settled down and looks comfortable here.
I brought Sawyer to meet her and to do a bonding session with her before I brought her home. She is in her own area for now while we continue working on bonding.
Could she just be a little stressed from moving to a new home? It’s only been a day so I’ll keep an eye on her pellets.
