And GJ it would be cool if you could make one of your videos with piggies noise. I actually don’t know the sound. Only read about it here. And of course I could Google it, but I’d like to hear it piggies I sort of know. Lol

I think buns can eat melon peel, only scrub the melon first to get rid of pesticide residue. Buns can eat pumpkin peel and zucchini.
My bridge dog Nala loved melon peel.

Shh I missed spelled piggy. Sorry Choco and may I just add that your fur looks better then hooman models hair on tv.
Anyway taking about good peel scrubbing… I’ve heard that puting baking soda in the water and puting fruits in that solution for a few minutes can help taking off pesticides. What do you think about that for buns. Of course everything would be rinsed good after that.
Friend of mine is a chemist and she does that before giving fruit of making salad for her small kids.

I heard on the radio recently that simple washing up liquid does it too…. just wash the pesticides off with soap…. (and rinse well) !

And the word piggy/piggies is one of those that I think goes both ways – generally I would say : one piggy, two piggies….. but seeing as the word is “pig” – it’s sort of a made up word anyway…. like one fish and two fishes …..

This dashing old gent, Is Gus; the oldest member and is 13 years young. He enjoys eating sleeping, and more sleeping. He had cancer last year, but survived it. he’s still a frisky guy and will shake and dance for the right treat.

These lovely men are Cheech(small calico colored one) and Chong(the big grey one), two rescue guinea pigs who are about 3-4 years old and are enjoying their lives. They are known for wheeking at 5 in the morning and waking everybody up, just so they can have their breakfast. Cheeky guys. 

This is Flounder, he is a yellow Severum or whatever the breed spelling is. he’s the big bully of the tank.

Here’s Tabby, a Blood parrot fish. 

There’s two angel fish in the tank named Ozzie and Harriet and 3 catfish called The Rat pack down at the bottom.

Niamian – Totally ok. Chewie gets chilled peel from various members of the melon family (both fruit and veg). We both eat well washed produce since I love the skin on things like apples and cucumbers.

And I too vote from wheek wheeking sounds from familiar piggies.

Cheech and chong are in the living room, which is right off from the kitchen, and if they hear you getting something to eat. Or they hear the sound of a chip bag the start to wheek, Cheech is the big wheeker, and if you tell him hush he doesn’t. Chong looks like a shark when he drinks his water bottle.

GIna – I tried – LOL – but nothing ! My ears are OK, and I stretched them towards the speakers…. but nothing… LOL

I used to have Guinea pigs, then I had one when I lived up north, a friend’s cat found this Guinea pig, I told the cat. “No, sorry you can’t have that its a Guinea pig.” No one knew who he belonged to, so I took care of him and called him Siren, because as he walked he made the squeaking noise, when he was hungry he made the noise too, he was only a baby and sadly died unexpectedly.

He is. I just ordered his organic dried plants so I can make him a fresh batch of biscuits.

Ironically, the plants will be delivered in a few hours, while I need to wait until sunset to order food (been too travel weary to grocery shop, and it’s still Ramadan so no one yummy delivers).

Haha, too funny

I remember I dropped an open bag of craisins in the kitchen once when Bandit was right next to me. I think within the space of three seconds he’d managed to hoover at least 10 of them up!!  He could pick them up faster than I could, lol. It was too funny. Fortunately I did manage to get most of them but it was tough fending off a very excited rabbit.

Yeah, he has the habit of being noisy and try to eat the food you are eating, he once tried to take a bite of my 3 musketeer. I do NOT share my chocolate..

Piggies!!!! I love Gpigs! I had two way back in high school. Love those “boui boui” noises!

I got some weird looks today while at the zoo with my husband and daughter. There is a new sheltered section of the zoo called “Guinea Pig World”. Yes, it’s exactly what you’d expect. A whole bunch of GPigs, including a bunch of babies living in a huge area with fake buildings and houses. I may have let out a few “Squeeees”…… Iol, some people were looking at me like I’m some kind of weirdo. I’m not the weirdo. Not going nuts over that kind of adorable makes you a weirdo. Weirdos…….

He is shedding in the most hilarious way. Wish I could get a good pic to show you just how funny he looks. He’s like mega molting and it started with his head and neck. He’s got this long skinny chicken neck.  Can’t believe the fur that is coming of this thing. Like handfuls. And I expected a big bunny to be more patient and less of a pain in the butt to groom….Nope. He is a nightmare to groom. He won’t sit still on the table and is all over the place and pushing me…..Will be very glad when the molt is over.

The two cats do not get along well at all! Rye is like the alpha female, and Sweetie is the weird one who digs at the window when they are fighting through the window. Rye goes full force and attacks the window. As you can probably tell, rye is an outdoor cat, and sweetie is indoor. Sweetie and Reese like to play “Bop then Charge” Where sweetie bops Reese, and Reese charges Sweetie. then when they get tired, they lay down together.

Haha, I wonder what was going through Cinder & Red’s minds? TimTim was doing that pose like Cinder when he first met my bunny slippers.

Cinders always poses like that if anything changes, she is such a Scaredy-bun. If I move anything around or put something new in she walks one foot at a time towards it, head bobbing up and down whilst moving forward, sniffs it then hops away to her hidey hole. I wish she was braver. Only chance I get to stroke her is when she is in her carrier accompanying Red to the vets as I don’t pick them up any other time

I have a timid girl too AxGizmo. She’s been with me 3 years but it seems to be ingrained.

Vienna: Cinders is quite a bit smaller than Red, mainly because she doesn’t eat much and because he is so outgoing I get the sneaking suspicion that he gets all the treats from any visitors that pop in!

So let me introduce you to the Puppy know as Rocky  too. As you can see one of his trainers is also Sir Redford himself who says that Puppy shows some serious promises to become one proper rabbit one day.

Anyway this just reminded me. I always wanted to ask you. Anyone have some idea what’s the name of Redfords coloring? I kniw about Biancas. lol

It’s a bit hard to tell, but I think he could be a broken tort, I’m not sure what colour tort though, maybe a black tort?

Actually, Redford looks like a broken red agouti to me. In pictures of him as a baby, his fur is definitely lighter at the base near the skin.

“Rocky to” is very cute indeed – I volunteered at the local animal shelter yesterday somehow got the biggest heaviest pulliest dog to walk – my arms is no wout of its socket – even if i was attempting training “you pull, I stop” and going very slowly – I’m trying over here, but methinks I shall soon be getting very frustrated that a 30 min chaotic, pulling-like-a-motivated-husky walk is preferred over 10 mins very slow but very productive gentle training.

It’s a vicious circle – they will get adopted and be completely uncontrollable , non channeled adult dogs and either get abandoned (not gentle), not walked at all (too powerful) or trained with a very heavy hand (this is the way to discipline!)…..

I would so like to be around dog trainers whom I respect….

Vet assistant just came and took them for a safe keeping for 3-4 weeks. Since we are going on a first holiday in a years.

Timber is not a very nibbly bunny (yet?). But he has found some stuff in my daughter’s room that he loves to nibble.

I know that I’m very late, but Sterling is SO CUTE!! He seems so calm. I’ve heard big buns are calmer than smaller buns; I’ve always thought having a Flemmie or a French Lop would be nice! And Azerane, that’s a beautiful setup for Dory!

Vienna: I like to get the smallest baguette I can find (make an almost closed circle using thumb and middle finger and you’ll get the idea). I then slice very thin slices, pop in toaster oven, and toast until golden and then butter lightly. Way better than dainty crackers – the delicate flavour of bread vs crunchy biscuit type confection is an amazing canvas for a nice beluga caviar. Personal preference, and an unorthodox one, I know, but YUM!

PS I can confirm that as a Canadian, if Sterling is kidnapped to overseas, his government will do nada nil zip. Upon first arriving in Kuwait, we were invited to the Canadian embassy and told in no uncertain terms not to expect any assisstance in the event of any kind of emergency, as they are here for economic reasons only, not to help out citizens in need or trouble. LOL

Well when whoever steals him realizes how much $ he costs in hay and veggies, I think you will bring him back. He eats almost as much as my horse!!!!

During last night’s extensive cleanings (yeah, it’s 40°C and I decide to clean my place) I have found the little plush toy I made for Kuro when he was given to me… he was about the same size of that plush bunny. I hadn’t realized he’s become so big!

Hazel: I usually mush a banana, add oats and warm water (half and half), a tablespoon of honey, and pellets and bits of hay until everything is thick and sticky. Since I had them, this time I also mixed in dried echinacea and lavender. I then plop a teaspoon full at a time on a waxpaper covered baking tray, and pop them in the oven on the lowest temperature until they’re nice and hard. Cool and enjoy or make lots and freeze. I prefer less but fresh.

A bit of picture spam, the trouble trio has been moved to the basement because the room they were in was too hot and we’re renovating it into an apartment for myself anyway, so they’ve been downsized temporarily, until I have a day off to build them a bigger cage. 

I don’t know why the pics are blurry, or if it’s just my computer.

Besides the bunny’s move, I have some other animal spam, including a special rescue. 

Zeus got upset about me being on the other side of the fence. 

Pepper doesn’t know how to use beds properly (Featuring Lucy.) 

And Bagheera was confused about the plumbers using a jack hammer, in HIS domain. 

And last, but not least, a single day rescue from my naughty little panther, Bartok the Bat! He left as soon as it got dark, but hid under the box flap I coaxed him into and stuck up on our balcony where the cat couldn’t bother him, and he drank some water I gave him. I was fawning over him, but didn’t want to bother him too much so I took a few pictures and left him alone while I called all the wildlife rescues in the area (Surprisingly, none could help me, they weren’t admitting at the moment, or their numbers were out of service.  Thankfully he wasn’t hurt by Gheer, I wouldn’t have known what to do.)

Bats are a pretty specialised rescue animal so I’m not surprised that several places couldn’t help you. You need vaccinations to be able to handle and care for them. Looks like things went pretty smoothly though and it’s good to know it’s off in the wild again

Enjoying his hay in his litter box. I don’t have a hay holder so I just pile up more in the front. This way he always sits with his rear to the back.  Then every day or so after he’s done a lot of pooing, I shift some the hay (that he’s already pick his favorite bits out of anyway) back to cover it a bit and add fresh hay at the front again. Working nicely.

Still pretty hot here in the Netherlands, everyone is completely cooked by high temperatures and high humidity. That’s our problem: it’s so humid that at 28 °C it feels as if you’re in a sauna.

Breintje has been doing well, though he refuses frozen water bottles. He just flips them out of the way, let’s say he hasn’t caught on yet. Today he seemed to be a bit too hot, so I dabbed his ears with a wet washcloth. He seemed to like it so much that I put it on his ears and back, and he sat there for several minutes with his chin on the floor and his eyes closed. Seems we found a way to cool him down ^_^

To keep Reese cool, I keep the fan on in the room and I keep her hutch top closed down, so she can get into and out of the fan whenever she wants. (the fan on the ceiling)

Sadly I can’t have any strong air currents in the room because of my illness. Large fans and AC are not possible. I have tried to put a small fan on the floor for the bun, but he seems to dislike the sound. Weird little bun…

He was eating his treats from my dad’s hands but he was too lazy to properly “sit at the table”, so he kept one paw down. My foot was there so I poked his paw with it (to disturb him, cause I am eeeevil) and he just owned my thumb.

At this point, he’d probably let you have it. He’s molting, poor little bug, and every time he grooms, some of it ends up stuck in his nails. LOL I try to brush as much of it out as I can throughout the day, but I swear, bunny fur is like the fishes and the loaves – it just keeps on coming. Less than 2kg of rabbit, 5kg of which is fur.

Which yes is a lot of money, but for Australian prices at least is really cheap for the size and quality that it is I rang around many pet stores inquiring about prices of similar cages and they all ran at least $450, mostly for a slightly smaller cage. Thank goodness for ebay

Ermagah! I just noticed! Oscar has a beanbag? So jealous…

Aaand… is it weird that my little guy doesn’t have a fleece blanket to love? He used to have a blankie in every room of our house, but he completely ignored them for a year, so I donated them to the animal shelter. But he loves to rearrange my sofa throws or my duvet so now I feel bad.

Don’t feel bad. Sounds like typical contrary-bunny-itis to me. I keep a fleece blanket across the end of my bed and Tim Tim often sits on that, and chews and digs when the mood fits.  Then I gave him it on the floor and replaced the one on the bed. He ignores the one on the floor.  They just want our stuff!

Speaking of Timbu… I found this old photo on the laptop. Look at those ear veins!  

Im a little worried about him at the moment. I just fed the buns their evening pellets and he’s normally keen. He’s bun-loafing up on the bed, not in his usual spot, not interested in eating.

I gave a bit of massage when I got in. Not sure if was tummy or bladder prob or if massage even helped. But he started show more interest in food and started eating hay. Poops were a little smaller. He was excited this morning for pellets this morning. Yay!

What powers I have !!!! So glad he’s feeling better! Phewie !! I bet the massage helped a bit.

Caught this kitty exchange the other day. They were fighting over the top tv watching spot on the cat tree. There’s a second one below that, but nobody wants that one of course. Just a few months ago he was such a sweet tiny thing, now he’s a big jerk…

This week I’ll be feeding a friends cats while he’s on vacation. He has 2 young cats who love to play and cuddle. Looking forward to playing with them, I hope I can manage to stay there for a while with my allergy pills.

Breintje has been super adorable all week, maybe he knows that my boyfriend is away and I miss him. Breintje is in heavy molt, so all cuddles leave a big mess. I tried to brush him, but he doesn’t like a regular pet brush. A barbers’ comb however…he loves it. The handle on the comb is also very handy, because he likes to sit just out of reach.

This was Breintje after the most epic combing session known to bunny-kind:

He was so happy about the grooming that he almost didn’t let me comb him. After each stroke of the comb he just kept licking my hands. At one point I decided to gently lay my hand in his neck, and he finally sat still and just enjoyed it. Eyes half closed, gnashing his teeth softly. Afterwards I sat in a cloud of bunny fur, and he decided it was time to groom me. Never had such a clean face in my lifetime

I know what you mean about mega-moults !! Zou’s bum looks as if she got a skirt on with a dozen petticoats on underneath it, all puffing it up !! I can’t resist plucking bits out as she passes by… but she’s not impressed

@Hazel – Tish is on the third floor of bunny condo, hence why the door is shut (no parachuting buns please!), but there is a hole in the floor to access the other floors which are not enclosed !!

@LFB – Sage is just adooorrable !! And she’s got a lot of growing to do.

Are you keeping a track of her weight and length….? It may be interesting in a year or so to see when she stops growing. 

Butterscotch is shedding too!! Too much further for me and makes my eyes water… so I just vacuum her. She loves it. I am very gentle of course and then she loves to go outside (supervised) to show off her new hair do! In the bottom pic she is looking for her chickens… she has 2 cat pals too but she hates them and loves to chase them and tries to bite them. My kitties thinks it’s lots of fun too.

I would like to formally introduce Sages big brother….Walker my 2 year old German Shepherd 

Sorry…I just had to get in on all this photo sharing of our furry family members!!! BTW you guys all have some adorable fur babies!!! I want to just reach through my screen and snuggle them all!!!

Yes, I don’t know why she acts like such a pussy with him, she has no problem kicking my butt (she literally launches herself at my neck). I know she’s not scared of him though, she actually walks up to him sometimes to start something, nipping at his feet. But she usually ends up rolling on her back. We always thought she would be the “dominant” one.

I think I got something, on Zou’s left, pretty close to her shoulder/front leg area. Looks like a little grasshopper or something like that, sitting on a leaf?

And thanks guys, those kitties are pretty crazy!

I got Walker from a breeder in Pennsylvania, his clientele must be picky looking for the perfect specimen and he was having trouble getting a home for him. The breeders child accidentally shut a door on his tail when he was 8 weeks old and he has a permanent bend in his tail and a bald spot. I personally think it adds character
