I was using foam puzzle pieces just in the Xpen portion of my cage setup over our hardwood floor. Gilbert had not touched it in till now and I am 100% terrified that he will injest some of the pieces he chewed (lost ny last bunny in my arms to an obstruction it was awful)

I need an alternative immediately. What can I use for flooring? Is tile to slippery?

I used some foam mats for Bandit, he did chew them but he never ingested them. Of course there was a risk of choking, or intestinal blockage should he ingest some, but it seemed pretty safe for Bandit as I knew his habits. Certainly take them away if you are concerned, I also used lino/vinyl flooring, bought it by the meter off the roll at Bunnings (like Home Depot in USA). You can use tile, but if you do make sure they’re a textured tile so that there is some grip on them, you can get tiles that aren’t glossy and slippery.

One thing that i have seen but havent tired personally is using something like tile but finding a nice cabinet liner and placing that over part of it for grip.

I use vinyl too. You can pick up remnants sometimes also. If the vinyl seemed like it would be too slippery, I used it upside down as the back had a slight texture but it was still washable.
The good thing with vinyl is you can get a piece bigger then the pen so the edges extend past the pen panels and cannot be chewed.
