We currently have 2 male rabbits – Cricket a lop eared bunny about 5 years old, and Ozil a dwarf English spot/Rex mix, – about 3 years old, tomorrow we are adding a lion head male about 3-4 years old. Cricket and the lion head are both neutered, Ozil is not (yet). As of right now, cricket is in a rabbit cage ( he climbs out of the pen made from the wire cubes, and Ozil is next to him in a pen made from the cubes ( today he escaped by squeezingg through one of the larger grids ), I am not sure what type of cage set up L is in – as we are taking him in for a friend who has to move to a new place and pets are not allowed. Our 2 were being housed in our family room, but the amount of pee splatter on the walls, the washer, the dryer, the cabinets etc. got to be too much to keep up with cleaning wise, so they are now on our enclosed porch and taking up quite a bit of space. ( they get run time on the porch, just not at the same time). I feel like no matter what I keep them in, it is just not big enough. For those with multiple bunnies what types of cage/pen/enclouser do you have?
Cricket was supposed to be a house rabbit and only caged at night and when we are not home, until he escaped from the pen and ate through a bunch of my daughter’s clothes ( her draw was open) and her bed spread, he has also tried to eat the couch cushions, Ozil is not box trained ( we are trying) and has a taste for wire chords, not sure how the lion head is free range yet. The mess of hay, pellet, poop and spray is getting to my husband so I am trying to find enclouser so to help contain the “mess” but do not really like the idea of wood hutches ( worry about smell, chewing and wire floors). I do like the “up cycled ” cages but worry they are too small. Thought and suggestions on what you like and why are greatly appreciated ?
