So my daughter and I adopted two bunnies from a 4H leader. They are an unfixed female and the male is neutered. They have been living side by side in seperate cages for at least 2 months since we got them. I believe they were housed next to each other before I got them. After spaying the female, I hope to bond them and let them live together. During the 2 months, their cages are literally next to each other. The female will actually eat hay out of the makes manger when it sticks out on her side. There is never a sign of an argument, they casually sniff each other thru the cage wire and they also share an exercise space (separately of course as the male was only neutered last week.)
I’m assuming this is a good “pre bonding” experience? What should my next step be after altering the female? Is it necessary to put them together in a neutral space since they are already used to each other and share common spaces? Or can I put them together in the exercise pen already?
Thanks for any info! Want to get this right as I want to put them together in the condo and eliminate the cages altogether :-)!
