Hello all! I am a new rabbit owner and new to binkybunny!
I recently adopted my year old rabbit Cooper from my local shelter and I am convinced he is the cutest bunny I could hope for. I did tons of research before I brought him home three weeks ago, so I feel confident I am taking care of him properly, but I’ve begun having a problem that neither of us like.
I live in an apartment where Cooper and I share a room together. When I first brought him home, I put a dog cage around a section of my room so he could roam around in a smaller area. As time passed, he was allowed everywhere except the bed, but soon, he figured out how to get on the bed too.
Now I absolutely loved waking up to Cooper cuddling my face-he would do so many binkies when he was on the bed! Recently however, he stopped using his litter box and began using my bed completely as his new litter box. Now, I was aware of the occasional pee on the bed, but when he started pooping and peeing while completely disregarding his litter box, I grew frustrated (especially when he peed on a guest while they were sleeping!).
I now have it closed off where Cooper can’t jump on the bed easily. As I watch, I hear small growls, back leg thumps, and a frustrated jump getting back on the bed. I hate how my room is blocked off from Cooper, and Cooper hates being restricted from the bed, so how can I get him to use his litter box again but still manage to have him on the bed?
Quick notes about Cooper that might be of interest:
– He was litter box trained when I got him from the shelter
– We had a recent vet visit (everything is okay)
– I’ve been giving him some nose drops for a small cut he got
– I’ve had a guest over these past few days
– He is neutered
Any insight would be helpful! Thank you all!!!!
